I'll be amazed if this isn't leaked in a big way before the end of the weekend. With so many people involved (manufacture/shipping/pr/show organisers and staff) how can Apple prevent it. Security doesn't exactly look tight in the Paris shots.

I agree that paris photo in the white box is probably more likely to be the new iMac then then one in the black box. But that doesn't mean that the thing in the black box is bupcus. There have been rumors of Apple making a flat screen TV (although I don't know why they would want to enter into this field?) and if they incorperate features like Airtunes for movies and pictures wirelessly from the computer to the TV, well that would just be cool. I have no idea how they would be able to transmit that much data wirelessly with keeping the same quality as an HD or even ED tuner.

Apple did say that they wanted to get into the living room. And thats what they did with the APex. :p

Don't know if that makes it any clearer

we need someone with NSA grade image enhancement gear to get on to this. I've watched 24, they had some good image filters, AND they used macs so it's in the national interest :p

Anyone know if thats just some existing non-Apple LCD Flat panel screen in the white box?

thanks for posting that

Re: flooring material in Paris airport

All I know is that the floor in large parts of the paris airport are made of that NORA Floor rubber with dots... I just checked some pics from a family vacation.. .so it was like that 2 years ago.

If you squint a bit...

... and read between the lines and fill in the gaps and generally fake things its looks a bit like this to me.

Even with that box, am I the only one who thinks it's wierd that Apple is shipping an unannounced product in that packaging? Wouldn't it in something else, you know, that DOSN'T have the unit's picture on it? I just find it a little too early to have finalized packaging done, unless they will ship it ASAP.

I think that the above is a pretty good rendition of what is on the box. Just can't quite tell if the back od the display is rounded or a chopped pyramid type shape. All in all, I thin kwe are very close to getting our first detailed leak.

Sticker over the top right corner?

I have assumed in my sketch that there is a white shipping sticker or something like that obscuring the top right of the monitor on that box. i can't see it being actually the shape it appears in the lores image. But hey, I suspect it may be some other LCD monitor, not Apple, and not an iMac.

i think that is...

either a monitor box (they do have other companies at the expo... or a box from an OLD school apple lcd display...before the cinema display. i also don't think that looks like apple photography... and they would have a better sense of balance on a package than to have all that white space to one side and no text or anything..

not it either... also, it would be to top heavy if all a computers components were cramme dinto teh top and then suspended from a neck

Call me a sceptic (which I am), but I don't believe any of it...

If the 2nd pic is real (the 1st is an obvious fake and I'm surprised it made it to page 4), then I will be very disappointed to see that even the iMac has fallen victim to the new trendy angular styling, like the uninspired-looking new displays...

Yes, good point - I'll also be suprised if the new iMac isn't by far the largest iMac yet...

Ok, Sorry to burst everyones fun bubble, (but the thing is ugly anyway, whatever it is), but here is an enlargement (That I did not doctor) of the so called "imac". As anyone can see, the Apple symbol that is applied on the side of the box is COMPLETLEY an add-on. You can see this by the difference in the pixels surrounding the apple and how their texture is different from the texture on teh box. It provides a nice little edge that is only distinguishible when you zoom in to see it. (a VERY poor job at digital photo manipulation...whoever dids this needs some real Photoshop lesons...if they even used Photoshop) Granted, this only proves that the box is a fake, but the chances of the item within it being phony are now greatly increased....I'll take bets with anyone on it.

Umm, sorry to burst your Photoshop-expert bubble, but that looks a whole more like JPEG artifacts (remember: this was taken by a camera which saves only in JPEG, on a lower-than-usual quality setting, so likely also on the lower JPEG quality setting, then editted in Photoshop 7 according to the EXIF records) than a bad photoshop job.

[edit:]Wow. Beat to the punch not once, (by eSnow), not twice, but at least three times ...[/edit]

...and NO, it's not the sticker. Since when do their stikers have straight edges?

Two things:

1) What straight edges are you talking about?
2) My impression of the "sticker" hypothesis (which was my guess as well, a couple pages back) was that the Apple logo on the object itself (not the box, which ... why the blazes would they go to the trouble of counterfeiting the box? There are enough PB boxes around that they wouldn't have to!) was most likely a sticker of otherwise glued-on prop. At the resolution of the image, that would certainly be easier than photoshopping it, and pretty much indistinguishable from a "real" logo.

Thought i'd join in the excitement :)
This white box on iPodFrance - sure it's not one of these?

It may not be the G5 iMac, remembering this:

All models should include stereo speakers in the enclosure, and should support up to 2 GB DDR memory, airport extreme, standard Apple software package, and a wired mouse and keyboard. Additionally, all models should have optical audio-out like the G5 Power Macs.

Of course, ThinkSecret, could by some horrible chance is wrong this time.

Now, here's the conclusions I have after a little sitting and taking in what we've seen today:

- This white box picture could be a stand for that display we were looking at all day today. But, the picture in the white box has a white frame for the screen, so it makes me not think the stand is right. A mounting iMac? A mounting tablet? Something?!
- Taking mvc's sketch, it seems like color will be brought back in the iMac. It sorta looks like the old Bondi Blue color! Oh, how I miss those days... But since the photo is low-res, it might not be any color at all.
- Apple usually hides the new hardware in black shipping containers with locks and bolts. The white box is out in the open. I find it odd how the photographer did not get a close-up of the box. It sorta sticks out.
- Somehow, I have doubts this white box photo is even the iMac. It could be another display or whole new device. It's lacking in design and isn't wowing me so far. I somehow find it hard to believe to fit a G5, and the rest of the iMac hardware into that space. Not to mention how bend-able is the neck going to be? Will it even be flexible with all of that weight?
- The hardware we've seen today is making me believe we're going to see some new digital devices from Apple. We're still missing a remote for the Airport Express, add-ons for these new iPods, Airport Express add-ons, some appliances, etc. There's so much Apple can cover, it could be anything. I have doubts that black box flat screen device is anything from Apple, but if it's something, it's not a computer.
- I think we're going to see a huge number in quantity for devices at Paris.

Well I know that it isn't a box from an older cinema display. As far as it being top heavy, possibly. We have no idea how heavy the base in that picture would be. Also, we all know how talented the engineers at Apple are and I have to believe that the arm holding the display up would consider all of the center of gravity issues that they undoubtedly faced with the current flat panel iMac. It could also be another company's LCD display. But I haven't seen any other company's packaging look like that. So, for now, I am still thinking that this is a legit pic.

<disclaimer>
Hey the colour means nothing, it just looked white and grey to me. Its all wild interpretation of a crappy image anyway. And just cos I drew it, doesn't mean I like it or believe it. ;) </disclaimer>

My vote is that it's some other monitor box.

I know the colouring is off but if that white box is not an already exsisting 'iLamp' mac then i'm pretty sure its Apple's original LCD display;

A possible match?

This may have been posted before, but I believe it matches the white box iMac.
