i work at an applecenter...
we sell all laptops with the brown box...
we dont receive desktops in the brown boxes...

look again

Look at the alleged elevator picture, the one with the person's hand included in the shot. This thing, whatever it is, is smaller than a 17" display. It looks more like 12", maybe 10".

Gosh... Almost looks like the image from the European hand-held computer patent filed by Apple...

The second alleged pic, it's a little tougher for me to gauge scale. Is the screen on the box the same size as whatever appeared in the first pics? Not sure, but the shape of the "screen" is similar, in that it is very rectangular and boxy, with a bulge on the back.

I want a G5 iMac Tablet computer that attaches to a base station G5 with another processorr the G5 gets even faster in its tasks and provides touch screenn acess to the airport express and other computers mac and pc with new firewire-less ports among its most shocked features are the new Voodoo X secretly in development since the 90's *evil laugh*

Woodgrain for Woodstock

how long until apple dumps the aluminum look for woodgrain?
Right after they introduce the new iMac which will simulate a giant lava lamp. A G5 iMac should be hot enough to get that lava pumping!

Hang on, what exactly did that recent Apple 'chameleon' lighting patent say?

I was wondering when the pre-Expo product "leaks" would begin. Ta daaa! :D
All I can say is, that while the photos do seem fishy for all the reasons mentioned (and what's with that cheap-looking metal prop that seems to be all that would hold this thing up?!?) such an all-in-one display with wireless mouse and keyboard would make a pretty cool new iMac.

Nah, it would be disappointing. I have a Vaio (V300G) that's exacly that. I'd like to see a whole new concept from Apple. Not a tablet, not a "Vaio", but something near-revolutionary that none of us have thought of.
Oh, and that is without a doubt a Powerbook box.

Seems like the 'ol elevator photo op job.
In the past Apple's requested every now and then that certain images be removed like Tiger, etc.
Pal photos were not requested to be taken down and eventually turned out to be fakes, now this hasn't been removed I wouldn't be suprised if they were fakes too.

However, it does slightly fit withing the ThinkSecret descriptions, although, someone may have just read it and then produced this.

It's only 3 days away, I'm sure we can wait.

we'll see.

is all i know. first if apple has them there they aren't in bulk they aren't going to have a shop set up selling them at the expo. most likely there will only be one there, and if they have a booth, ten. now would they really leave one in busted ass box, in an unsecure area(which looks like refuse from the setups) with other junk stacked on top of it? come on people you can make yourselves believe it all day, but this is not it.

NOPE

I think it is real..
I think there is enough room in the box for the stirofoam.
its just a odd angle that makes it seem like its touching both sides.

its the new All in one Imac. for sure

check my attachment ive quickly enhanced the white parts to get a better look

people are asking where is the software or the identifcation on the packaging.

these units are for the paris expo for display purposes not sale..
so these un branded blank apple boxes seem typical.

I don't think these are iMacs. I reckon they could be eMacs. Especially since the guy said they are really heavy. Sounds robust. Good for education market.

If Apple go AIO, then that pushes the price up if they plan to have different size displays (which ThinkSecret and others are expecting) because that would mean extra tooling up on the production line.

With the iMac G4, that was greatly simplified by having the separate display and base unit. It wasn't until they went to the 20" they had to do anything different, and event that was fairly minor (adding a bit of ballast).

I like AIO, but after the iMac G4 (which isn't technically AIO), I've been spoiled because i love the functionality it gives.

Things that bother me about these photos...

Why no picture of the box cover with a nice image of whats inside...did Apple ship them in unmarked boxes?

Why no picture of any external sticker describing contents?

Wouldn't there be lots of plastic seals and stuff to get through that would have got the photo taker busted?

Why no picture of the back or any ports of the actual machine, and why no picture of the little writing that must appear on it somewhere saying iMac G5 or whatever?

Its all a bit sus as most people are saying.

Wish it were true but without a full sized photo with all the metadata I err on the side of caution

Ehh..

I don't believe it. Plastic foam looks all wrong for it to be a retail product or a floor model. I think if anybody had the product in an elevator for long enough to take 3 distinct photos they would have been able to just take one good photo that didn't obscure the product so much.

My Take:

I'm not here to say if it's fake or not, cause either way I don't really care. A computer's a computer. It's what's inside that counts.

I do have two questions though.

1) For major computer announcements, isn't there typically a month or so gap between the announcement and actual shipping of the product? If this is the new iMac it's kinda early to have such a finalized-looking box, isn't it?

2) Shouldn't be Apple be much more secretive about this sort of thing? Locks, bolts, armed guards, cyanide coating, etc? I thought Apple would be much more cafeful about this sort of thing, rather than, "Hey, Joe Blow, go bring this up to the show floor!"

the aluminum photo is the iMac. thinksecret says the new iMac will have optical out, making it a perfect hub of the home entertainment center.

The 'white' photo the educational model described in thinksecret. They just didn't get all the details (happens sometimes)No optical drive, just a screen, airport, processor, and HD. Apple is refocusing on the Edu market.

And box color is barely consistent with whether you are getting a pro product or not - my isight and ipod and G5 came in black boxes...

It should be noted that Apple supposedly had the iMac G5 prepped for launch at WWDC but held off for Paris because of low processor yields from IBM. I'd guess that because of this, Apple already has done the design work for the product's packaging.

As far as the first images go, the bottom styrofoam packaging looks identical to the bottom packaging of that of my 17" powerbook. My batts. in my camera are dead, so i cant post up a picture, but what are the chances that the Powerbook and new iMac just seem to be able to share the same packaging.

Not much I guess...

Nor did anyone think those Tiger screenshots where real and you know the end result of that. Personally real or not its fugly. It doesn't have any of Apple's typical curves but then again its partly disassembled in its current state so who knows.
