I think the 7" iPad might come mid-late October and with luck the iMac might be released in the next 2 weeks... that said I thought we'd get it back in June and was sure it would come today so what do I know

H iMacs would never be released under an iPad mini event I think. I'm guessing it would be even more important not to clutter that event with other products than the iphone5 event. It's a brand new product. iMacs will either come between these two events or after. I'm hoping for right after the back to school program, it's happened before.

Is it just me that found the iPhone event to be a boring watch. I knew everything about the phone - and the iPods I don't really care about. Without Steve's way of presenting things it just got so boring I didn't even watch half of it. The others just use too many superlatives and they It just sounds too obvious/faked. At least Steve managed to bake those superlatives naturally in. When you hear "this beautiful gorgeous display" 10 times in a row it's too much. Even jony Ive seems to become a bit to repetitive ...it's the same "when u think of an object and think of what you feel, it just seem so obvious" kind of gobble every time. I love apple, if not I would not be here, but some times it's a bit of an overdose. Especially when there's no iMac ad I get pissed on top of it all ;)

Yeah I hear ya, especially when they spent so long looking at some plastic headphones. When do you think the 13 inch mbp will be released? With the iMac?

From previous experience, does anyone know how much the current iMac will be worth after the launch of an update? Or in other words, how much the current model will decrease in value in the days/weeks following an update?

Ballpark figure.

Ballpark figure.

10% or so.

iMacs hold their value very well (especially if they can still be updated to newer OS')

Dont forget: "It's the best iphone/ipod we've ever released!"

Be patient the new iMac will be soon. We saw 2 iMacs on the stage yesterday. Why not use the rMBP? Because they wanted to send a message. Within the Keynote they boosted about the success of the iMac.

Expect great things soon! This is not going to be a spec bump. They would have done that back in July.

I would hazard a guess at Late Sept for the new models. After the back to school promo.

And shut up about iPad mini!! who cares!! the iPhone is bigger now!!

Dont rip my head off! its a guess. :p:p:p

Because they almost always use iMacs when they have computers on stage for these things.

Yeah even apple understands that an imac is easier to work with than an laptop, but still they seem to give it less love.

The last 2 events they have used MacBooks. And wouldnt it be a great chance to show off the performance of the rMBP a few months after its out.

It might be me looking into things to much but many people have been saying Apple are all about MacBooks and iPads etc and that proved they still need them and use them. Thats all im saying.

I didn't pick up on the iMac's on stage being a signal, but it's a good point. If it were my call, I'd say let's use the new MBP as it was very recently released. It's almost like free advertising. Perhaps the iMacs were a subliminal message, one can hope.

I think there is a very good chance of a refresh hitting late this month or next month after the back to school promo is over. I see that promo as a liquidation of current stock.

Not really, since Samsung may get the sale of it blocked for violating LTE patents. Just saying.

Frankly, I can't muster the will to care anymore. If it gets blocked, they had it coming. If it doesn't, I still don't care. That feud displays horrible copyright laws worldwide, takes up court resources worldwide and is a plague on both their houses.

No. Two iMacs = redundancy in case one fails during the keynote. Come on now. How long have you been around? They've always had redundant systems on stage. Even in the days when they used towers up there (one monitor, with two iSight cams attached).

You don't "show off performance" during a LIVE event, you need redundancy, period. You need to think before you post...or you're 12. Not sure which one.

Even trying should get Samsung kicked off standards committees. The patent royalties should be covered in the cost of the Qualcomm chips, period.

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF MAC PRO USERS. SEAT YOURSELVES, BECAUSE YOU"RE ON YOUR OWN!!

In all seriousness, several product lines are due for a refresh. But that's only because we look at the average life of a given model.

Apple is free to sell whatever they want for as long as they want to sell it.

Without comparing the current iMac to a newer product from another company, what's wrong with the current iMac?
