I did watch it, and I did not agree on the idea of limiting the 4" form factor to just be an affordable entry level phone back then, and I still don't. I think there is a lot of missed opportunity with having a 4" device which still comes with the improvements that each generations does. The SE have just not offered enough for a device upgrade for people wanting the 4" and having 5s for example.Did you watch the March 2016 Keynote when the SE launched? Greg Joswiak stated they introduced the SE to be an “Affordable” entry-level iPhone with a 4 inch form factor. In order to make it that way, they didn’t include all the latest technology, which also made it affordable for other countries where the higher iPhone models are exorbitant in price.
Engineering is a factor, more screen is more space, but also bigger battery to power that screen. Considering that on the resent models most of the space is used for the battery I do not think it would be to hard to make an SE which have the same internal components as the X and 8Might be an engineering limitation. Having a bigger screen = bigger device body = more physical space to fit all the components in. Just guessing.
What about home button? Theres no cutoutHonestly. I think this is just a cut-out for the speaker. I'd say they moved the speaker closer to the edge... and the screen protector just covers the entire front of the device... doesn't mean that the actual screen will extend this high!

Sketchy claims that Apple's "iPhone SE 2" could boast an iPhone X-esque display apparently refuse to go away, with the latest addition to the rumor pile coming courtesy of Sonny Dickson.
Earlier today the parts leaker posted an image on Twitter of a supposed iPhone SE 2 screen protector that appears to share a similar notch-design to the one Apple uses to house the iPhone X's facial recognition sensors in lieu of Touch ID fingerprint recognition.

The comparison shot also shows an actual iPhone X screen protector (right) beside the allegedly leaked one in order to highlight the smaller notch that would presumably be destined for the smaller form factor phone.
Unconfirmed renders and dimensions of the next iPhone SE obtained by MacRumors from casemaker Olixar claim the device will have a length of 4.7 inches and a width of 2.1 inches, making it slightly smaller than the current model but with a larger display thanks to the fuller-screen design. They also suggest the device's notch will be around half as wide as the one on the iPhone X, but the idea that it might house facial recognition sensors still seems far-fetched.
Apart from the technological hurdles that Apple would have to overcome to achieve the unlikely feat, it's hard to imagine that Apple would include Face ID on the iPhone SE at all without hiking up the price significantly. Including the feature on an iPhone that starts at just $349 would reduce Apple's gross margins and risk cannibalizing sales of the iPhone X, which starts at $999.
Those issues put the whole notch-design in doubt, given that the lack of a home button would require some other method of user authentication. Some rival smartphones have recently featured integrated screen fingerprint sensors, but Apple has suggested it won't be following that approach ever since it developed its TrueDepth camera recognition system.
Apple hasn't properly refreshed the iPhone SE since it launched back in March 2016, but it did double the available storage capacities in March 2017. Rumors about an updated model have been contradictory in recent months, but they can be distilled into two camps: one hoping for a iPhone X-like design, and another expecting a minor refresh.

Its just a screen protector. I don’t believe this means anything that an iPhone SE will launch with Face ID, which would hike the price considerably. If we were To start seeing more component leaks for an iPhone SE with Face ID, that would be more substantial.
If the iPhone SE is updated, I think it would be minor with an improved resolution, camera upgrade in a similar form factor retaining a familiar price point.
How are you going to unlock your phone?I suppose if they took out the face ID kit, they would be able to reduce the notch. If they brought out an SE with an iPhone X style design, I would snap that up.

1. No iPhone SE Redesign
While there are a lot of discussions that Apple will make the iPhone SE2 (likely called ‘iPhone SE’ again) look like an iPhone X Mini, the reality is it will be the same design with upgraded internals. It’s not clear whether the iPhone 7 or iPhone 8 will be the source device, but the cost will increase significantly from the current $350 asking price.
I agree that not spec'ing up the Macs and iPads is rude / offensive to those of us that choose to be in this Apple ecosystem. When my Mac Mini HD died I bought another mac mini and I felt shame buying an incredibly old-spec'ed mac for like $700. (I did replace my HD in the old one and sold it, I was just in the middle of a project so I couldn't wait for the new hard disk to arrive.)I don`t f. care if it has a notch or not, if it has Face ID or not.
The LEAST that I expect from Apple in 3 Days and a couple of hours is:
1. spec upgrade of iPhone SE
2. spec upgrade of Mac mini
3. spec upgrade of iPad mini
4. spec upgrades of all 3 Notebook lines, if not a major update of the Macbook Air
5. spec upgrade of iMac together with space gray option.
If there are any other major redesigns, fine, great, total happiness,
but if Apple continues with its boolschitt like "oh hey, we have been so busy, check out the newest Watch OS and look we are number one in the smart watch market" ... AND CRAP, i will be FURIOUS and I will immediately demand the FIRING OF COOK!!!"

I did replace the HD in my Mac Mini (2014) with a 1 TB Samsung SSD, thank goodness for Samsung they care enough for people that do actual work on a computer and want improved components.
They can at least have some substance besides a picture of a random screen protector and literally nothing else to back it up. Anyone could do that.I suppose, I didn't think of that. Maybe then they've improved the Face ID tech to make it smaller. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
