I don't see how that would work either? if the ipad is on a table it won't be moving?
When the iPad is lying on the table the accelerometer is not moving, that is right. Well, the accelerometer is not measuring movement or speed or anything like that, in fact it's measuring forces. For example even if your iPad is glued to the floor it will show you that earth's gravitational force is acting on the y-axis (i think). That is btw how the accelerometer is helping to calculate the orientation of the iPad (I think many people believe that it is measuring that you turn the iPad around, when in fact it is just measuring that the gravitation is acting on a different axis).
It should work very well.

Updated imovie for iphone a little while ago. I was extremely happy about it. It has ALL the features of the iPad version minus the precision editor. I was very happy to find that. I originally thought the iPad version was going to be its own and there wouldnt be a solid update for my version. So glad thats not the case.

I made a quick little movie using all of the new features and was really happy how much more you can do with it. Not to mention the interface is much slicker. I love the movie poster front page. I actually was hoping for this update bad because I need it for a media project making a movie. Now that its updated, it has everything I need for the project.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Please note that it only works on iPhone, 4.2.6 or later. :/ jailbreak isn't out for 4.3 yet so I can't get it :/

So stoked that GarageBand works for the 1st gen iPad.

I can't wait to get home and download this!

GarageBand is very nice on my first gen iPad. I play real bass and I enjoyed playing while waiting the migration of my old MBP to the new one that arrived today.

I love garageband on my iPad 1. I have no talent for music, but it is a very nice toy. Might use it for podcasts.

Hey, I play bass too! :D

Enjoying the hell out of GB, and I haven't even moved past the drums yet. Seriously, these drums are amazing!

Garageband is an awesome app, but does have a couple of issues (which I'm sure will be sorted with an update):
Firstly, if you have an external keyboard connected, renaming songs doesn't work: It doesn't bring up the dialog box to type the new name into.
Secondly, it crashed a few times
Finally, I exported a song via iTunes and Garageband 11 wouldn't open it and said I needed a newer version. I checked software update and there's nothing available yet, but I guess an update will be coming soon (at least I hope it will!)

Thanks for that - it worked perfectly and iMovie is now on my 1st Gen iPad and seems to work great :)

What's New in Version 1.2
- Three new themes - Neon, Simple, and CNN iReport.

A theme for CNN's iReport = another nail in the coffin of professional journalism.

Big Media only has itself to blame for its demise.

I have Garageband running on my iPad, and it performs very well. Excellent response (no lag anywhere), loads of different instruments, looks beautiful.

I can see this is a very polished App, well done Apple! (1 glitch, hit the high-hat and the floor drum animates too, whoops!)

Not a glitch. One finger does what you describe and two fingers hits the high-hat only. Check the 'Help' icon on the app and you will see.

Wow I'm impressed by GarageBand. The thing is awesome it's got a sampler on there and I've never know they were this much fun until tonight. Need to get something that will let me plug my guitar into my iPad now and it'll be a nice way to record quick demos. Really amazed by it though.

Import loops?

Ok, I have no musical talent when it comes to playing an instrument, but GB on the iPad gives me a little advantage. What I can do well, is record songs using loops and loops I bought for my Mac. Plus I also use the loops and sound effects for pod casts and recording intros for other people.

Does anyone know if gb for the iPad will import loops from the Mac? I want to use this instead of stuido.hd (that I bought earlier) for my podcasts. I am used to doing my podcasts in gb on my Mac.

One thing I hope they fix, is giving us the track view - with out having to pluck an instrument recording first.

Outstanding — and no jailbreak required!
But there is a problem when attempting to sync in iTunes:

This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPad “NAME iPad”. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?

If you do not authorize this computer, the app “iMovie” and its data will be deleted from this iPad.

If you Cancel, the menu disappears but no new items can be synced. If you Authorise, Account Name and Password need to be entered. Upon entering this information "This computer is already authorised" appears and pressing OK brings back the same menu.

Does this have lessons for the piano to actually learn intervals and chords and such from scratch? also I did read that you can use the camera kit to plug in usb keyboard I think it was in someones review on itunes.

I guess I'll have to wait. I sold my iPad 1 on eBay today, but I'll be picking up my iPad 2 tomorrow. :D

Oh that is you!! :) I have been watching ebay on the iPad auctions. The basic wi-fi models are going for around $350.00 and basic 3G for $405.00. Did you get a good price?

The sampler is wicked.

Yeah!! I did not even know what a sampler was. Recorded my voice and I can play that with the keyboard. It took me a few seconds to even know what is going on.. Very cool!! What else can I do with this? Practical applications?

I can not believe it is only $4.99. It is going to to break all sorts of sales records.
