Improve the appearance of the dock shelf

Ah, cool, great work! Those screenshots are nice.

If you feel like a challenge, wanna do your custom indicator/frontline magic on the rainbow dock, as I just posted above?
 
its getting there, but I have class in a bit, so i might be able to finish it today.


I plan to have pucks as the indicator lights as well. and maybe some 3d goals on the ice, if I can find them..

Also it might take me a bit to figure out how to get rid of the out lying dock so we'll see what happens..

That's a function of the indicator png files themselves, not the dock png files. Just download my indicator_no_reflection and replace those files and you will no longer have the frontline reflection on any dock.

Ah, cool, I understand now.

Still need that rainbow frontline.png though. The default one isn't 100% right.

Can you make a rainbow frontline.png from the main dock png images? Would that match?

I guess the easiest thing to do would be to make a spectrum strip that matches the res and width of your menu bar, and attached it across the top of whatever desktop picture you are using. There are free apps that will set the menu bar colour now, but a spectrum replacement might be a bit much (the free apps offer opaque colours only).

Having said that, a rainbow dock with rainbow menu bar would be pretty freaky :cool::cool::cool:

A) For some reason I only get the readme file when I unzip that archive at the link you have...???

B) There is probably a very good reason that he didn't make the frontline that way, it's impossible (or very difficult) to have it match up exactly to the dock itself. The frontline.png file isn't as wide as any of the scurve png files. So if you post your frontline.png I can make it darker, but I won't be able to make it 100% and have it line up correctly.

I'm at work on a PC at the moment, so I haven't had a chance to try and download the rainbow dock files.

I see what you mean about the frontline problem. Hmm, tricky. Is there any way it could just be a translucent glass image of some sort? Might be less jarring that the white line?

Edit: Downloaded the rainbow dock zip at work, I get the whole lot of files plus some preview images and other stuff.

Thank you! Awesome. Yeah, the app indicator a hockey puck or a red goal light would be cool. And my Pittsburgh Penguins logo at center ice!

I've been making different colored docks all day. Finished off with this sweet dock:

These are all sweet looking fellas.... but I have one question... are there any side dockers in here that don't like the new 2D only option? Anybody been able to get rid of it?

I was able to get back the glowing orb indicators, and I can make it look like a darker Tiger dock, but I want the 3D shelf back.... can anybody help?

So here is as far as I am going for a while, because i am at the point where everything is making me mad, and I just cannot get the background to look any better.

I did make the icons smaller and added what looks like the board line as the frontline.png

I am sure my roommate thinks I am nuts as he hears me cursing, and slamming my mouse and chair every once in a while.

If you really want it, even though I think it looks horrible, i will put it in a .zip for you.

i'm now on vacation, and monday back planning on getting it the weekend of that week so 10 or 11 November, but i'm not sure, my dad is going to buy a family pack, but i'm not sure i can convince him to buy it so early, maybe it i show him some videos on the apple site he will be selled.
