Well, in principle it could be possible, depending on how the proxy works.

A speaks to Siri, query sent to Apple server
B speaks to Siri, query sent to Apple server
reply comes from Apple server, but is it to A or B?

Unless the server does something to prevent this, I guess it could happen.

On the other hand, Siri probably gets your name locally after the reply comes back from Apple, which should prevent it.

I am an engineer and agree with u on this. The server could redirect unless done to prevent. But I guess the socket ( combination of ip and port number) would be unique.

Also, a point to note is that my Siri wasn't working for 6 days and then imzdl people helped me out with another assistant.plist file. That definitely made it work but I got this name goof up only after that. I was using it before that for a few day and never did it goof up.. So may be to do with the assistant.plist file..

Siri is working great for me thru imzdl. After I sent money I got an email back within 10 mins.

Has anyone signed up for this service from iMZDL?

$20 for a year of access to their Proxy Server, so around £12/£13 for us Brits.

Cheers.

As another UK reader, I'm interested to know: Do us Brits get the 'full' Siri by using this server or is Siri limited here?

I've heard, for example, that certain Siri features such as finding local places, only work in the US.

Is anyone else using iMZDL proxies having issues placing outgoing calls? That's the only thing I've found not working for me.

Doesn't seem to be a problem on other proxies.

It finds the correct number in contacts and says it's dialing but I never get beyond this:

So will Siri call the number or not?

umm, well your pic displays Siri CALLING the number hence my question.

Have you tried a respring or reboot?

Yes. In any case, it turns out it was MyAssistant (which doesn't actually assist with anything it seems). Too bad because I loved the potential of that tweak.

Given that each request is authenticated, against the device that is it sent from, it is not possible.

If you think that this is possible, then it is also possible at Apple's servers level.

Same here; I uninstalled that piece of crap. What a joke. I'm using SiriToggles quite happily and with 100% success rate.

But doesn't the proxy fake that authentication, so we all share a low number of keys? Will Apple assume that two requests with the same key comes from the same phone, or is there an additional way it identifies the phone? That would be bad news since it would allow Apple to detect shared keys.

Basically, how Siri works is by using a unique id per transaction.

After yesterday, I had one more instance of wrong name display.. This time it said "rob". Something's definitely going on here. So many instances can't be a coincidence.

Also, has anyone for a com.apple.assistant from
Imzdl? I did and then only I have started facing this goof up..

What is your "purpose" on this thread?

Did you pay for the service, and are having problems? (what probs are u having)?
Did you not pay for the service, and you're just being obnoxious?

Because it's a forum and I can say whatever I want. Have a problem with that? Tough.

This is weird.. But while I was just using Siri through imzdl, Siri showed a different name than mine. It showed the name as "Ali" instead of my name "Dhrumil".
I tried again several times. But all the other tries Coundlt produce the problem.

I forgot to take a screenshot but m sure it was a wrong name.

The cocern is that is it possible that the data is routed to other device. Some sort of cross connection. Does this put our information at risk??

M not being paranoid or too much concerned about it. Just want to have others opinion..

Edit: happened again.. Took the screenshots..

All of the above replies to you are mostly incorrect.

Knowing your identity (name) and other data is based on 4 keys of data being sent- acehost, speech identifier, assistant identifier, and account (view the com.assistant.plist file in ifile and you will see those 4 keys). Since multiple devices are sharing 4S data on proxies (since they use the 4S data dumped to the server to authenticate with Apple's servers), it is highly possible to be crossing connections with another user. There is no authentication on the device, as some suggest above, is occurring because you don't have a 4S and are not using unique keys every session from everyone else out there; you're sharing 4S data with approximately 10-20 other people (or more- whatever the server value is set at).

Other servers say to just delete the acehost key itself leaving the rest of the data to fix this issue (as their servers don't send this data to Apple to protect the keys, so it's not needed), but I don't know how IMZDL has it set up. You may want to tweet/email them directly for that answer.

Could suggest deleting the com.assistant.plist file in var/mobile/library/preferences and rebooting the phone to let it generate that file (it does on reboot and reconnecting with the server) with a whole new set of keys.

Actually, you CAN'T. There are rules on MR, and if you are simply posting in a thread to be combative, or to raise a rukus, you could be banned for Trolling. ;)

I think he's just regretting his 4S purchase now. Maybe he had an iPhone 4 before and upgraded just for siri, i would be pretty pissed too!

Actually I can if posting facts and information. The only one being combative starting crap here is you because you seem personally hurt by my comments somehow.

Don't like what I say, well that's too bad. Doesn't make it combative nor give you any right to come after me and you start the arguments. I can have whatever opinion of Apple, these guys, or any person I want and post that since it's backed by reasons and not using any crude language or violating any forum rules. If you're somehow personally hurt by my opinion of this service, then I guess it sucks to be you.

Um actually no. I wasn't a sucker who paid $20 to get Siri on an iphone 4:rolleyes:

purchased today, using the london server. works perfect :)

oh for peeps that dont know they now have 5 servers up and running

I think it was a good sign that they closed for payments while they solved their problems. They seem to have gotten through the crisis now. Have been using them for a few days, no problems whatsoever....

.... that is apart from Siri having trouble understanding my accent. :D
Non-native English speakers beware.
Me: "When did Cleopatra live?"
Siri: "Should I do a web search for 'when did kill a Petronka'?"

And beware of abbreviations in your address book
Me: "Play album Genesis"
Siri: "I don't understand 'Play GKOK Genesis'"
Huh?? My accent must be worse than I thought. :D

Thought I would weigh in.

Purchased my slot today, and it has been working flawlessly in the past half-hour or so of testing. Hopefully it keeps working well.

I purchased a slot earlier today. It didn't activate properly at first because when I did a copy and paste of the UDID I cut off one number.

After that was pointed out by the iMZDL team it worked properly, almost.

I have full functionality except voice? I googled around and found that Siri has her own volume control accessed by activating Siri and quickly using the up volume button.

Mine was initially all the way down and I thought I had solved the problem but upon testing Siri I still have the same problem. I have the United States English voice chosen and Siri turned on.

I did do a Launch Daemon mod found HERE and only deleted those on the "Safe" list. I also reviewed what I removed and saw nothing that would have affect on Siri's voice.

Functionality is seemingly unaffected as all applications work properly. She just doesn't have a voice.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I primarily wanted Siri for her voice actions but don't have that function at the moment. I am using an IP4 on 5.0.1, jailbroke with the latest untether less than a week ago.

Make sure volume on your iphone is on (as opposed to vibrate). If you still don't hear Siri speak to you, I would recommend uninstalling/reinstalling Spire.
