Available at my local store for pickup today, but 4-5 weeks if I order online, wow. I want to pull the trigger on the MacBook rather than the Pro, but in thinking I should hold out since the Touch Bar and Touch ID will probably come to next springs model....hmmmmm

At a minimum Thunderbolt 3 should be in the next revision since it's native to Kaby Lake without an extra controller.

I don't know what kind of street drug you guys are smoking, but my loaded 15" is wicked fast. It's also stunning.

I think this is the best example yet of how well the hardware integrates with the OS. It's just ridiculous. Not one hang-up. Even running many VST's and plugins for audio. I finished a nice, 4K training video on it last night as well.

I'm sorry, but it's already exceeding my expectations. Maybe an attitude cleanse?

I think many just can't get over its price! I also think this could be a good breaking point to keep people where their needs actually are. If you can't justify $3500 for peace of mind in an ecosystem you must have, there are plenty of Asus ROG's out there for your $2000 to keep your spec and worthless (yet future proof) 32GB of RAM.

I'll tell you first hand... You get what you pay for!

Is that with Cubase or Logic? Good to hear. I'm always on the limit with my late 2013 rMBP

I run both, including Pro-Tools for my audio on video post-production and ADR.

Logic definitely needs an update. It's not speed, it's just buggy... Cubase laughs at me and begs for more. I can't kill it. I'm sure I could, but NI11/Sylenth1 on the SSD is just too fast. I don't count any UAD plugins because they go through my interface's DSP.

Edit: And that's why I'm very happy I got the 1TB to fit all of my kit on the drive (NI is some 360GB compressed). I work off of an external, but everything running from the internal SSD.

Yeah I'm on Cubase. Since v8 or so it has really improved at low latencies. My rMBP is only 512GB so I didn't install all the NI sample libraries with Komplete. But then I don't need acoustic pianos anyways.

I wonder if the unboxing video people returned it after making videos of them unboxing it....lol.

I know it wouldn't make a difference to many or probably ANY one else, but I would HATE to get a device that was unboxed/returned. I would feel so ripped off, if I pay full price for a device I'd want to be the first person to use the damn thing. (I think that is the case though, I think they only use the returns to replace faulty devices under warranty etc or does anyone know for sure?)

Sounds like a bunch of $30k/year "millionaires," to me. Some people buy enormous trucks... Clearly a lot of people buy computers that are overkill. Compensation, guys?

Plenty of trolls on here..Macs are worth every penny.
I upgraded to a 2012 macbook pro which is all I need for what I do.
In a couple of years this or next years model will be my upgrade.
Enjoy! I can't wait to try one out!

You know what really annoys me.. I also went in store to look at them and all of the 15" display models have the Intel Iris Pro 580 chip along with the 450 Pro (checked in About this Mac)... Shows they could've actually included a decent integrated GPU but chose not to due to cost saving measures. Also shows that they want it to run smoother for the in-store display models with all of their demo software.

Pardon? Can you confirm this? I thought all 15 MBP comes with integrated GPU HD 530, and none of them have HD 580? Does Apple really have HD 580 models for display?

Why not simply enable the dGPU?

I think it would make a difference to a lot of people. I know I always inspect boxes in stores to make sure it wasn't a return. You are correct, Apple doesn't sell opened product. It goes back to the warehouse and eventually becomes "refurbished" stock.

LOL, yeah. You get an iPhone 6 and pay for the privelige of an unnecessary repair right. Like that you mean?
Also who is compensating for what.
Ever heard of the law of diminishing returns, it kind of implies that you don't always get what you pay for.
Who cares if it exceeds your, low, expectations. Stunned were you? Really? Hyperbole.

Do you mind sharing your reasons?
Sure.
I was very impressed with the machine. Amazing display, light, beautiful design and very powerful. Everything we (I said we) are complaining about in this forum is not really an issue or deal breaker. Except the price tag. Despite having all the nice features, I can not justify expending all this money, especially when my 2014 MBP still rocks. For those who need a laptop, I would not recommend any other laptop.

Yes, the low cost entry level 13" model is available in some stores.

The other more expensive 13" and 15" models are in high demand reflecting a December 30th delivery time.

Why does that surprise you?
They're all available here except the new 15" model and that says December 30th, so assume stock isn't in yet. Maybe it will change in a few days but doesn't necessarily seem like they are in limited supply as we've seen in prior releases. There is too much uproar to ignore, I'll wait until they quietly drop the price in six months or so when they bring out new MacBooks or iMacs. Hopefully they don't get in some pissing match with MS over who has the most premium (expensive) hardware.

Damn, a model appeared in a store close to me, but 2 minutes later when I got around it ordering it it was gone. So close.

Not even interested enough to check it out IRL. Sorry Apple, after decades of loyalty, you've lost me with this one.

I know some are tired of all the negativity surrounding this release (and others), but it's far too easy to dismiss it all away as trolling posts. The reality (in my eyes, at least) is a lot of the negativity is coming from longtime customers like the one above..and Apple should be concerned. This is a corporation with some of the most loyal customers ever, and they are pushing that loyalty to its limits.

That said, I know Apple has the capacity to turn this around with future releases that say "we've heard you loud and clear", and that is my hope for them.

LOL @ all the suckers going to buy this overpriced crap.
[doublepost=1479423747][/doublepost]Costs Apple $225 to make iPhone 7 in China. And they sell for $750 + TAX when they pay NO TAX themselves. all those offshore accounts..
Imagine how much profit there killing us with on this MBP.. SO OVERPRICED. 1 YEAR OLD CPU??? NO THANKS.
Apple pays tax in whatever country the product sold. They have "offshore" accounts because they did/do business "offshore".

Point taken but you are missing the fundamental point. The trend from Apple is towards disposable hardware. While you praise the performance of well integrated the software and hardware, the same has always been true. Except now, if anything goes wrong with the hardware, you'll probably have to junk the entire thing. Broke the power button? Well that is soldered to the logic board... gonna be $2500 and two weeks to repair. All of your data is gone too because that storage was soldered to the logic board. There is nothing elegant about that.

I wouldn't call it disposable. I think they are just minimising repair labour costs. Basically if anything goes wrong pull out the motherboard, put a new one in. 15 minutes done.
The cost of labour in countries like Australia far exceeds the cost of another motherboard.
20 years ago electrical repair stores used to do pretty well. Now you can buy a new blueray/ TV/ whatever for less than an hour or two of someone's time.
