Issues or not to one side, what cannot be denied is that the phone looks uglier with a notch than without .

This is nothing more than merely a subjective opinion. Again, average consumers don’t care about the notch, they don’t sit and have conversations about how ugly it looks. They use their phones every single day and take far more appreciation in other things the iPhone offers.

The notch is a blemish. Yeah, the round/pill-shaped cutout on the S10/s10+ is also unsightly but then the "blemish" is smaller in size so it is less ugly and intrusive .
Which is uglier you ask? I'll offer up a subjective opinion. That hole in the middle of nowhere. The notch gives the iphone some character and houses electronics more sophisticated than the hole.

Personally i wouldn't pay full price for one, 64gb is $1229 here, i got mine new off gumtree for $700, and sold my 8 256gb for $700, so was a no brainer, plus i had a silver and didn't like the white front.

As an owner, I’d say the XR is overpriced vs the competing market, and sure it’s technically “outdated” in departments like display, etc....none of which personally matter to me. (The screen looks great in day-to-day use).

But I’ll gladly pay $749 for this phone, that works seamlessly in conjunction with my other devices in the Apple ecosystem, vs less for something that stands alone on its own. Best phone I’ve ever owned, even if it is technically overpriced vs the market.

I’m a firm believer that many things go unmentioned as to the experience of owning a smartphone, and particularly one in a robust ecosystem of products. Being able to handoff to multiple devices at any given moment, seamlessly transition AirPods to-and-from devices, iMessage across multiple devices, etc all go into the experience of using my XR.

Other than the screen, what do you think is outdated? Camera? SOC? 2x2 mimo? wifi chip? Obviously the screen is the biggest difference, however, there are people who seemingly prefer LCD, due to headache issues. Apples calibration of its' LCD screens are spot on.

Aluminum siderails, lack of a dual lens, and maybe outdated is not the word for those things, but it definitely lacks newer tech trends. Either way I love it, but I think it could have been $699. More than ecstatic with it though for myself, even at $749.

Marques Brownlee said something like the 10S E from Samsung was a better option than the XR, and one thing that matters is the screen res compared to what Apple did with the XR... You could go and check it.

Apple fans are not happy to see not the top notch tech on new phones, cpu is not everything nowadays...

Apple fans, at least the ones I have met over the years, don’t care that much about spec sheets.

What many people however do care about is a well established ecosystem, great customer service, privacy considerations and the like.

The funny thing is for Samsung fans, when they talk about spec, Samsung is extremely poor for the dollar compared to other brands like Xiaomi, and then Samsung fans pulled the BS of support, which is ironic.

Every new cell phone will be outdated in 6 months when the next best thing comes out.

Well if you look at it from that angle then pretty much any smartphones screen “looks great”

Mainly bc, if you ask me, the screens aren’t that big to begin with.

But if you compare it to the competition, has the hardware fallen behind?

Are we back to the Specs race? What do you want your phone to do, that the Xr can't? I've owned every iPhone since the OG, not including the Xs Max... IMHO it's the best phone I've owned, considering the price... The Battery life is amazing, and maybe one of the best and least discussed features... And the screen... Maybe it's my old eyes, but looking at my brothers Xs... I can't tell the difference and my phone lasts hours longer than his...

It comes down to, does the phone do what you want it do; regardless of the Specs or what other people say?

Of course, I could be wrong.

One of the best battery life on a mobile, class leading software and hardware inside. The screen looks good as well.

Well-summed. And a lot of people on this site will knock the XR display and say it looks dated, fuzzy, etc. When I first saw the XR display back in November 2018, (I was at my carrier store), and I was surprised actually how good it looked at the time. A customer next to me was having his XR activated at the time, and the display looked just on par as my iPhone 8 Plus (Work phone) did.

For those long time users of galaxy, going back to LCD is a major downgrade. Only those that have been using LCD (most iPhones have low resolution screen :) ) can find the XR screen "acceptable"

I would disagree. I don’t care for the washed out, cartoonish looking colors on the Galaxy phones, and I have had plenty experience with those phones to make a fair evaluation/opinion. I would gladly accept Apple’s Liquid Retina display over a Galaxy phone.

"Washed out"?
I think you are describing iPhone antiquated LCD screen :p

Must be my old eyes as well because I’m with you. Next to my daughter’s XS, I just don’t see much difference at all. Not only does my battery last a LOT longer than hers, but my XR gets much better cellular reception. I often have service when she doesn’t (we are in a fairly rural area).

Took this screenshot of my home screen on my XR. I see nothing wrong with it. Letters are crisp, colors accurate and easy on the eyes. Those who say it’s blurry, fuzzy, etc please point it out to me. I love this phone, up to 12 hours of screen time use and great ease of use. I think it’s great.

That's not really a picture of the actual LCD screen.

But I agree, the screen is great.

I think long time galaxy users viewed the oversaturated, uncalibrated displays as norm and have a hard time adjusting to fully calibrated displays.

You mean hard time adjusting to pixelated, lousy viewing angle, washed out color and piss yellow screen...of course :p

Which iPhone do you have?

They seem to adjust to battery drain easily :)

Wait... you didn’t clarify, are you describing a Galaxy display? Because if you are, that seems somewhat accurate what you’re saying, but I just wanted to ask to verify.

Nope sorry. Judging from the responses on this thread, it seems people would prefer an apple calibrated lcd display, over a cartoonish, uncalibrated oled with high-end specs that display an uncalibrated picture.:p
