With all the possible manufacturing glitches and imperfections these days, I would only buy a case like this in a store, after I popped it open and checked it out, looking for rough edges, bumps, gaps, etc. Almost $50 shipped is bad enough...shipping back a defective one would suxor.

For some reason I thought they were releasing a "clear" slider case.
Oh, well.

I don't know how I feel by the matte black. I had the white version for the last iPhone; very good case.

My favorite part about the slider was was that it did NOT scratch the bezel and it let about 80% less junk in it. And there aren't plastic strips on it... There are some sticky-ish strip that a soley for holdin it in place, but they are softer than the rest or the case and couldn't possibly scratch it.

I've touted this case on macrumors a lot because it is so thin and well made, I hope the 3G version lives up to those standards as well. Assuming they ship fast I should have mine this weekend, then I'll post pics and a review.

Well I'd look up the case then, because there are post and threads about it scratching the chrome, and also leave marks from the rubber pieces it "slides" against when it's pushed into the top piece. Just cause it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it hasn't happened to others who own the case.

I had the glossy black InCase Slider on my 1st Gen iPhone for about 6 months and never had any issue with the bezel being scratched (well nothing major, yes it had little minor ones that just about any case will cause when dust gets trapped between the case and bezel). I did not have any parts on the bottom from the slider part and I used it rather frequently (took the bottom off 3-5 times a day to put in charger at home, work, etc.).

I also never had a problem with the case itself showing scratches (though my gf had the white glossy version and hers did show scratches and got marks all over it frequently).

When anyone gets the matte black will they post pictures? Thanks!

InCase had the glossy white and glossy black for the 1st gen iPhone so I will be waiting for the glossy black to come out since I loved it. Did they have a matte black for the 1st gen phone?

Yeah, they had a matte black for the first gen, but it didn't come out until a while after the glossy black and glossy white were released.

Black Matte

I recently purchased the Matte Black for my 1st Gen and it's absolutely the perfect case. It has a slight grip to it, but it's still hard plastic. Not too grippy that it brings out the inside of your pocket with it, and hard enough to protect from drops. Now that it's available for the 3G, I may upgrade my phone. I may wait a few weeks and see if others come out...i.e. clear.

Matte Black Peeling

I read some reviews about the first generation iphone Matte Black cases peeling.......does anyone own the matte black for the 1G? If so, is it peeling? How long have you had it? Do you have any photos?

Also, the description says it's a rubbery grip......does it pick up lint in your pocket like other silicone ones?

Black gloss now available! I'll try to post some pics of the black matte once it arrives.

Edit: Oops. Sorry. No black gloss yet.

Anyone know the best way I can get my hands on one of these in the UK? Their website doesn't ship there.

Have been waiting for this case since launch :(

I've had mine just over a month, and dropped my phone one time. There is a scuff in one of the corners. Even if I pick at the scuff, I get no peeling. Best case IMO.

that's good news, was your phone still in good shape after the drop?

Say it with me: CHILL! I was giving my point of view and recommendation, no big deal, ok?

Also, have you even owned one? Yes, the sticky strips leave a sort of residue, but 2 seconds with a cloth cleaned it off FOR ME. So, I bought one...

I got an email from Incase today stating that their stock would be arriving at their warehouse tomorrow (Thursday), and my order would ship out on Friday.

order shipped

my order shipped this morning, should be here on monday

I got nothing from incase except a receipt for overpriced shipping (and product). Just the generic, "we'll email you when we ship.". I am psyched for this case no tried too many other options. Is it as thin as it looks (1mm)?
I hope they ship soon. My current set up leaves a lot to be desired.

After all the talk and hype of this when the 3G was released I would have expected more people to be excited about this release, but somehow the capsule is getting the hype now.

It's not hard to see why when you consider the following:
- the Capsule itself is $10 cheaper, and $7 cheaper on shipping+handling
- customer support from Capsule seems better; quick responses by e-mail
- Capsule came out 2-3 weeks before the Slider

I liked the capsule, but its too loose all around as far as fit. Having a clear or ice case that shows off the iPhone itself is what's cool about it also. Wish incase would make a clear type case also.

I returned my capsule and ordered this one. :)

From reading the posts though, it seems the fit of the capsule isn't even spot on. Not saying this slider is, but from what we know right now the capsule still fits loose.
