It's not hard to see why when you consider the following:
- the Capsule itself is $10 cheaper, and $7 cheaper on shipping+handling
- customer support from Capsule seems better; quick responses by e-mail
- Capsule came out 2-3 weeks before the Slider

Incase customer support is really good. I called and was talking to a rep immediately. He also gave me his email address and responded to my emails instantly.

Unfortunately for me and some of my friends, our experiences have not been anywhere as good. I've read the same on other forums as well. So it's not like it's an isolated incident either.

Pictures of Black Incase Slider for iPhone 3G

My local Apple Store had a new shipment of the Incase Slider case for the new iPhone. I traded out my Orange Incase Protective Cover for the black matte Slider.

Very nice.

Is the new case as slippery as the one for the original iPhone? That's one of the things I didn't like about the Slider. The other problem was that the soft plastic rails inside the case stained the back of the original iPhone...

Which Apple Store did you go to?

I just called around a bunch of Apple Stores and most will have the matte black Incase Slider in stock. Many just received them half an hour ago actually.

No word on when they'll receive white or black colors.

Does anyone know how the black matte case holds up against scratches? I had the Black Capsule Rebel and the case got scratched up so easily and looked terrible.

Ordered the white one 2 days ago- just spokento cust service. It shipped today but won't get it till next week beacause I'm in NY.
They told me that the white ones were delayed and just received by them today and they were rushi g to ship. Don't know if it's true, it at least it shipped.
Off will go the Ghost Armor which didn't come out great and the I case protector which already has a small tear. I'll keep the anti-glare film on though.

Well I think no matter what case you use, it will get scratched. Just think it's better for the case and not your iPhone!

Anyways the Slider for the original iPhone wasn't that scratch resisitant... I had the white one and it was covered in scratches in no time.

well since it's a matte case it shouldn't scratch at all
the capsule rebel got scratched on the shiny part.

I bought it at the Apple Store in Boulder, Colorado. I've only had it for a day, but it seems like it should hold up well and the matte finish doesn't seem like it will scratch too easily.

bought mine today. matte black

Local Apple Store - Memphis, TN

I went back to Apple in NYC (SoHo store) this afternoon and they had the black (even thought the person on the phone said they weren't in yet).
I couldn't resist and bought one. Very cool! I'm glad I bought it.
I have a white one (glossy) on the way which I ordered because I have the white iphone. The matte finish on the black is a little to get used to and there is one tiny imperfection on the top (barely noticeable- I'm just being anal). Overall, it's great. I'm very happy with this. I'll probably return the white when it arrives unless it's better then the black (I doubt it).
I gotta say, for a hard case, it hardly adds any size. Not to mention it really preserves the feeling of the curves and lines of the 3g design.

One thing to note, when I first pushed it in to the top part it created some air under my Power Anti-Glare film. I think this happened because the film wasn't on totally straight. I messed around with the film and screwed it up. I wound up using the 2nd film from the 2-pack I had making sure to put it on very straight and put the slider back on....PERFECT!

BTW, the slider won't work with any of the skins (IS, Ghost Armor, etc). I took the Ghost Armor off the back and now I have the Black Slider and Anti-Glare film on the front. Seems like a great combo. I'll post my thoughts about the white when it arrives. I'm happy to post pics if anyone wants....

I'm tempted to get the black slider, but does it mess with the iphone look? From the pictures it kinda takes away from the simplicity of the phone.

The slider and the anti-glare is the way to go. Crystal gets screwed up by the slider from my own experience but now I have the anti-glare and it's amazing.

I'm loving the case with the anti-glare too. Regarding that imperfection on the top I had mentioned, I saw in someone else's pic, the same little mark (in between the headphone jack and sleep button).

I wonder if anyone else has that mark on their's as well. Here are a couple of pics of mine:

What you have there is what is called an edge gate. Part of the injection molding process. I will say it is something they should have done a better job on cleaning up.

Thanks. I figured it had something to do with the injection molding, but I'm surprised they didn't make the tooling or finishing more precise. It doesn't bother me, just wanted to see if it was unique to the one I bought.
Thanks.

I just bought this case two days ago, and I'm loving it. It's thin enough not to add bulk to the phone, and the matte colored one has a nice texture to it.

I use with with a power support crystal clear film, but there's a trick to it. I originally had the film already placed before I got the case, and when I slid the phone in the case, it would induce air bubbles under the film at places where the slider would make contact with the film. So I took the film off, and reinstalled it with the slider case already on, and it works perfectly, both fit amazingly well. Just wanted to share my experienced

I've got it on my white slider for my 2G. It's going to be there no matter what.

Does this case cause scratches from sliding your phone in and out like the Agent18? I'd be tempted to buy one if it didn't cause 'em.

One thing i noticed immediately about the iphone 3g vs the original iphone was that because of the tapered/contoured edges, the 3g feels more comfortable/natural in your hand.

does adding the incase slider make the iphone 3g lose the tapered/contoured feeling?

thanks

gloss white, matte black AND glossy black? Is there a glossy black?
Anyone know whether it's just the soho store in NY that has the slider?
