I'm going to max out my iPhone X support. iOS 17 is likely to be the last release for it, so, I will get one more year of OS support and another year of security updates which means, iPhone 17 Pro Max in fall 2025.
Might be a smart move actually. According to Ross Young, 2025 is when ProMotion LTPO screens will come to the non-Pro lineup as well so you may not need to spring extra cash if you don't need the camera enhancements.

Most customers probably prioritize a big screen and the best cameras, but I hope the regular iPhones retain regular sizes.

Yeah, I'm sitting here in my little world dreaming of a lighter XS sized phone with higher refresh rate, more RAM and an "average" camera without a colossal bump for the 1-3 pictures I take every month when I scan a document. But I don't see that happening, well here's to hoping those 2025 base models don't grow.

Just release the 55" inch version and get it over with. Everything will fit and stunning battery life.

I keep my devices for so long I might as well splurge a bit.

This year’s iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max should get a significant battery boost thanks the more efficient A17. In fact, I have a feeling that may be the most significant new change this year, bigger even than the addition of USB-C, at least if you’re getting the periscope-less 15 Pro.
And the efficiency boost will mean nothing after Apple Proportionately reduces the capacity of the battery.

Even larger sensors to be trashed by Apple Airheads that pushed airbrushed, HDR overprocessing.

I still haven't forgotten the horrendous way Apple monkeys with skin tones. We all rave about years of software updates, but apparently this is not fixable years later. Until this junk is fixed, I'll sit out iPhone "upgrades".

I've never been happy with the photos my 13Pro takes, specially at night or indoors, they look paintings. Very disappointing

I miss when you had the option to take hdr photo & it will automatically save an original photo

Due to a bigger size, It would be ideal if Under-Display Face-ID debuts with the iPhone 16 Pro lineup.

To hell with Face ID. Bring back Touch ID. If Apple won't build it into the power button like on iPad Air, then they should use Samsung's new OLED display with in-display fingerprint sensor

Looking back that iPhone X design was pretty much perfect IMO.

The increased size of next year's iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max allows for upgrades including a periscope telephoto camera and a 12% larger main camera sensor, according to a new report.

iphone_12_pro_sensor_shift.jpg

The rumor was first shared on Chinese social media site Weibo by a user who says that they have obtained industry insider information. Corroborating several other reports that next year's iPhone 16 Pro models will feature larger displays, the individual claims that the increased size of the devices will provide more internal space for components including a periscope telephoto camera system. Earlier today, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said that the larger size of the iPhone 16 Pro models could help facilitate improved camera hardware or bigger internal batteries.

While the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to introduce the iPhone's first periscope telephoto camera, the feature is expected to be exclusive to Apple's largest iPhone at first. With next year's iPhone 16 Pro models, Apple is reportedly planning to bring the telephoto camera to both of the "Pro" models. The increased size of the iPhone 16 Pro, is, therefore, at least partially explained by the need for more internal space to implement the periscope camera on the smaller Pro model.

For the iPhone 16 Pro Max or iPhone 16 "Ultra," the additional internal space will apparently allow for a larger main camera sensor that is 1/1.14-inches in size. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max currently feature a 1/1.28-inch sensor. No sensor size increase is expected for this year's iPhone 15 Pro Max. This claim has since been supported by the Twitter leaker known as "ShrimpApplePro."

A larger sensor could improve the main iPhone camera's dynamic range and background blur. It could also substantially enhance low-light photography capabilities since a bigger surface area can capture more light with the same shutter speed and aperture.

What Happened to the days of Apple making their devices smaller while innovating & making room for new components on the inside??? Now they have to make the device larger just to fit new components into it .

I "guess" iPhone 17 is gonna get a major camera upgrade compared to my 12PM. So, may be I'll wait..

Yep. Me too. I don't know why they took that away other than it's clear that Apple wants their "smart" features to do the thinking for you, to take the photos that it thinks look best, but that's not always what I think looks best. Some of the HDR photos I take look ridiculous; the HDR effect exaggerates the shadows and highlights so much that turning "View Full HDR" off in the macOS app makes the photos look much better. At this point I mostly shoot in RAW when I really care about the image quality (and the fact that RAW photos look great shows that the camera hardware is plenty capable without all that over-processing), but there's no way to permanently switch RAW on, you have to turn it on manually each time you launch the camera app. :(

Yet Canon and other manufactures sell a lot of printers (and a ton of ink) every year. Likely for home decorations, apparently.

As a photographer, I always look forward to better and better cameras being used in iPhones. And that's a major reason why I upgrade.
So you think most people are printing their photos instead of posting on social media? There are many other uses for printers and things that get printed.

Remember when year to year improvements were enough to justify getting a new phone every 2 years? Now it’s barely justifiable every 5 years. My wife has an iPhone 11 and is sees no compelling reason to get the 15 this year or the 16 next.

it just means Apple devices are great built with longevity. I don’t see how that’s actually a bad thing? I’ll also hold only my iPhone 12 PM for yet another year. I used to upgrade every 2nd year when the prices were still „reasonable“ but not anymore

but what if iPhone X support gets drop this year and not get IOS 17

They tried it out with a mini and the public were not so happy, apart from a small minority, consisting of me and 3-4 other people I know.

Apparently, people wanted more size & weight per $/€, etc., just as with their food purchases. ;)

And this is why Apple "retired" iPhoto years ago! It won't be released as "iPhone 16 Pro", it will be named:

"iPhoto 16 Pro"

with "One more thing" proclaimed: It will come standard with cell service.
