My order status went to "Preparing to Ship" today. Arrives Dec 4 - Dec 11. Mac mini 16GB/1TB. I am in staying in India, but there is no reference to where the product is shipping from.

I feel like I am qualified to answer this one, as I have ordered through the online store in a few different countries.
In the UK (and I assume the US etc), if you order online, your order gets shipped from China so you get a preparing to ship and shipped notification quite quickly but then it takes a while to get to you.
In Dubai and India, they import the products in bulk, so you will be on Processing for ages and then move from Preparing to Ship to Shipped to Delivered fairly quickly, in a matter of days.
It's just how the different markets are handled. So if yours is on processing, don't worry. You might see it in a few days. In India at least, Apple is usually on the later end of the dates they provided (so if they say 4-11th, expect it around the 10th).

Dell pricing in India is ridiculous. Why would anyone buy it in India is a mystery to me. Its not any better with Lenovo for example.
Apple is also bit higher but it is due to customs and GST (its 18% right !!!).
Atleast with apple, you get the same models in India at almost same time as they are released worldwide.
With any other brand, they only release few and usually low config models in india, and there is little option to customise.

My MBA is supposed to be delivered between 26th Nov and 02nd Dec. Still in processing. Lol.
Please keep us all posted here once your MBA ships. My timeline is between November 27th and 3rd December.

I didn't pre order from the online store. Looking forward to pick an MBA at the store. however each store is giving a different timeline for arrival. Some saying Dec 1st week, some mid-dec and some dec-end (different cities). I'm really hoping to collect one asap. do they arrive in stores at the same time first pre orders are delivered? In that case I can expect it in the first week itself?

Don't worry, I shall keep posting the updates in this forum.
You can visit the nearest Apple Store and ask them, but in case you want a BTO (Build to Order) option then you can do that online only.
i'm looking at the base 8/256 variant. I've called several apple stores and each of them are saying different dates. ranging from dec 1 st week to dec end. :/
Which city? I have also ordered base variant. It seems my NVME enclosure for 1TB SSD from AliExpress will arrive before than this MacBook.
My delivery date starts from Tomorrow lol 😂 and still in processing. I chatted with Apple support and he told being MacBook, it’s going through stringent quality checks and make sure only perfectly fine machines are shipped. It’s done and will be delivered in the next few days it seems abs it’s coming from Mumbai plant to be precise!
Maybe assembled? They told stringent quality checks being made and so the delay it seems and going to be shipped from Mumbai is what they told.
Ordered on 11th. Delhi.
Dates haven’t changed since then. 26th to 2nd.
It went to “Preparing to Ship”. Still showing 26th to 2nd.
The cancel order option is also gone now.
Same here, I just checked my order status. So I think we all should get it over the next couple of days! Super excited!
You can talk to Apple chat to get info. For me they told, it's being tested and shipped from Mumbai.
My opinion/advice would be to wait for M1 based Macs arrive at Apple Stores and then after hands-on experience on the newly M1 based Macs you should decide which one most suited for you.
