Are Indian Apple users happy that there are "Made in India" Apple products to buy or do you still prefer imports?

Its a good thing if Apple manufactures in India, Indian customers then don't have to pay import duties, chances of better and faster service/ after sales service.

I hope 80% of all high-end manufacturing of China goes to countries like India and the Philippines

I agree with you, depending on one country for manufacturing is not good for the world. Let's see what in the cards for Apple consumers in India.

My opinion/advice would be to wait for M1 based Macs arrive at Apple Stores and then after hands-on experience on the newly M1 based Macs you should decide which one most suited for you.
I've already decided on the model, just waiting for it to arrive. although i'm still confused about the color choice. mind says space gray, heart says go for gold. never been so confused in recent times lol.

I just hope they don't come with any inferior build compared to the rest.

Hi guys, letting you all know that my MacBook Air has been shipped! Would be receiving it tomorrow!

great! there was one store who told me there is a slight chance it might arrive on 27th (and they accept pre order from 27th only). hope that's the case :D

I would prefer import. Apple Care Plus now is absurdly expensive. 25% cost. The previous Apple Care was better as I do not want compulsory accidental coverage.

We need better consumer laws like Europe. Indians get shafted everywhere. Americans and Europeans also get free accidental coverage when they purchase with credit card. In India you need to pray to god that MacBook doesn’t run into issues after coverage expires.

My Mac mini has shipped, would be arriving on December 4th.

Where did it ship from? India or abroad

No idea man, when I track I get the message of information available for the particular tracking number.
I am confused if Apple has actually shipped the Mac or is it in queue; as the delivery date is shown as Dec 4th.

Yes this is exactly what I said a page ago. So in India, our order remains on Processing a lot longer than usual. There is no assembling or manufacturing happening here of these products currently.
So all of us India get the same quality stuff?

Yes I should hope so :)
It took about 2 days for Bluedart to get me my stuff from Mumbai to Delhi the last time I ordered something.

Once our stuff is in the country, things happen quite fast.

They don’t treat the Indian market with priority. Sad thing is in premium laptops category everything is grossly overpriced here. Surface and XPS are overpriced by 100% in some cases. At least with MacBooks you only have to pay 25-30% extra and they hold value comparatively well while reselling compared to others.

Is this an Apple problem, or your government?

I ask because I have family in the Philippines, and the government there taxes things in such a way that it is more economical for us to send the same product purchased in the USA to them even after air express shipping, than it is to send them money to buy the same things locally at dealers there.

When you get yours you will have to see if it says 'made in India' because that would be so cool if it is OR it will say 'Assembled in India'. Depends on the law i suppose because I know in Europe, a product has to be correctly identified as either being 'made' in a country or 'assembled' in a country, because there is a difference.
My 2020 iMac says it was assembled in Ireland. Made me proud as I have Irish heritage. If assembled in India, it will state it. The components still come from China.
