£159 is a fair price. Can't wait for this.

I dunno man, I paid around $19 for my Anker QI charger, excellent quality, works really well. Even if this charges 3 things simultaneously, I can't see how it'd be worth more than $80. 3 * 19 plus a little extra for the Apple logo, maybe call it a "round" $99. But $159 is way beyond what a charging mat should cost, now if it actually charged my iPhone whilst I was walking round the house with it, or wherever I happened to put it down, that would be another thing entirely.

But WHY? when it takes ONE SECOND to plug your phone or AirPods into a lightning cable to charge??? WHY?

Why, when you can get a 3rd party wireless charger which uses a micro usb cable, for less than the cost of a lightning cable.

And still not be able to deliver 7.5W to three devices simultaneously.

No need when you have devices that only need charging once a night, if that.....

Hey, but at least when I am in the bathroom, living room or the kitchen I will be able to wirelessly charge one thing! And it does 10w, not that apple supports that but still.

Charging 3 things is great but 150 dollars is alot of cheddar, I would rather buy my first pair of airpods.

If it was 99 maybe I would be on board.

It is expensive, probably due to the reports of this mat actually running a gimped out version of iOS to charge apple watches and AirPods. Unfortunate that it will most likely be the exclusive wireless charger for these products due to this. Your AirPods might be stuck to wired charging.

Don’t be silly. There’s no overpaying when you’re buying a device that literally doesn’t exist on the market. This is basically 3 charging pads in one. If you deduce that price for each one, that’s $50 each but for something that’s well built and works perfectly with everything you have. Not only charging a few phones at the same time but AirPods and your watch.

That’s not overpriced in my mind. But ok man. Don’t buy it and sit back and be complain on forums about it

It's cool that it can charge everything while only occupying a single power outlet... but it isn't 149 dollars cool. It doesn't fit my use-case anyhow, I dumped the alarm clock and use a very basic stand for my watch to fit that gap.

The last rumor was $199, so maybe by the time it actually comes out, it will be $99.

If I was betting, I'd be flipping that around: we thought it might be $99, this rumor says $149, so I expect $399.

Another rumor soon suggesting $299 to get us generally flipping out about price.

It actually rolls out at $199 to let the pricing pressure off, followed by many talking about $199 as a bargain (because we were pretty much believing $299-$399). Then, we're falling all over ourselves to snap them up at $199 and gushing we can't believe we're getting them for so little.

And then the usual 10 or so guys working triple time around here telling us why the actual price- whatever it is- is completely justified and that it is the one and only (good) charger that everyone should own... and ripping into anyone else daring to bring up that just about anyone else's chargers are priced lower-to-much-lower than this one.

And Apple later reporting another record quarter for "other."

;)

No, actually the Airpower is not “Late.” Phil Schiller said last year when they announced the Airpower in September 2017, he stated directly “To look for it in 2018”. Which still leaves four months for it to launch yet, September Being most likely.

As far as i'm aware Apple's Airpower is the only wireless charger that can charge 3 devices at the same time and when placed anywhere on the mat.

And requires an upgrade to the case of your AirPods, and an upgrade to an apple watch series 3

I initially thought $149-199. I totally believe it'll be $149, if it is ever released... Would love to see the Ingenious videos on this!

Looking at buying 3 of these: 1 for nightstand, 1 for travel, 1 for either office/gaming desk. Can't wait!

Which for most people who have the current Series 0 Apple Watch and the first gen AirPods won't be a problem. I'm planning on upgrading my Apple Watch to the Series 4 later this year anyway and getting the updated (rumoured to have some tweaks) AirPods. When compared to the price of those devices an extra £150 is a drop in the ocean.

Hmm. $149, needs a new AirPods case, doesn't work with the sport loop, link band, or Milanese loop, and doesn't support nightstand mode.

I guess this is designed for the people who charge during the day...but the 18w fast charger would probably be a better option for most people (charge the iPhone quickly then drop AirPods on it once a week.) The only thing that could possibly save this is if it could somehow charge an iPad.

It's also a shame that they're forcing the issue if you want to wirelessly charge the watch and AirPods. Guarantee the only reason we can't charge a series 3 right this moment is because of the lack of iOS handshake.

I hope that they would also release a cheaper, single-device only wireless charging solution. I've tried two different 3rd party mats, and they don't work too well with my iPhone 8. I wouldn't mind an Apple solution, but I don't need the big multi device unit.
Tried the Belkin one? It works great with my 8 and X and I love mine.

As far as I'm aware, this thing isn't even available yet. Apple could say that it uses unicorn fart induction charging, but until the thing actually ships, it can't charge any of my devices. :)

Overpriced and way late to market.
YEP! Exactly.
And this won't even work well for me in that I have the Milanese Loop which I am not going to give up nor do I want to have to undo it every time I would want to charge. (defeats the purpose) Also, the AirPods charge so fast now just as they are so no gain there for me and also I don't like my devices laying flat anyway. Just won't work well for my needs and the price is too much if true.

I have a 20 dollar anker wireless charging pad. Sometimes it goes on sale for less, but even at 20 I could buy 7 of them and put them all over my house.
Are they fast charging? Would you recommend them?
