WOW, that is really nice. Probably better than 5th Avenue Apple Store in my opinion because of the classic brick design, glass roof, and its huge. Not all cluster ********* like 4th avenue too

Apple Stores are gorgeous but I have this weird neuroses about walking on glass, no matter how thick it is.

Going up the glass stairs or crossing the glass bridge upstairs at the Michigan Avenue location always gives me the willies.

Yes, I am a big frickin' baby.

Yep! I agree with you. I don't really care to see beneath me, while walking on any surface.

Am I one of the few that don't like the look? All the glass and modern Apple design touches don't mesh well with the brick building IMO.

I also think the largest Apple store in the world should be in the USA not the UK.

I think you complain too much.

Wow, they have all those ipads displayed up there-- not really normal Apple procedure is it?

Haven't you seen some of those Americans? They are massive! :D No glass ceilings for them!

That was meant to be a light-hearted joke. Some of the fittest people that I ever met were Americans. In fact, I was surprised not to see any fat people in Manhattan the last time I have been there. That was the same in central-Boston.

I want to see some full exterior shots but so far the interior looks great. Lots of space now but I'm sure it will feel like a sardine can once it opens.

I think that every country has there fit and unfit people. I am from the Boston area and I would not say we are the fittest in the country, but I do not see fat people walking everywhere.

"According to the report, Apple's entire flagship Fifth Avenue retail store in Manhattan would fit into the glass-covered courtyard of the Covent Garden store."

that courtyard in the video doesn't seem that big ... at least it doesn't look near the size of 5th Ave store.

P.

They're all still stuck in the elevator, that's why :D

Give me a shop next door with a metal front and 1 guy at a desk selling iPad's in brown cardboard box's for £10 less and I'd not even look at the new Apple store.

Al I can think off if how much cheaper their products might be if they did not waste money on fancy gimmics.

Sorry.

It's like buying Levi's for £20 from a normal store or £40 from a fancy chrome and glass levi only store.

I get home, I've got the same item, but paid twice as much.

I wanna know where he go the idea that "Most Apple stores have a glass staircase."

Is that the situation over in the U.K. or something? Because based on my experiences that's not something I'd say.

Brilliant store, really nice. England finally won a competition at something:D

Only usually the big flagship stores, not the usual shopping mall ones.

Based on my (very) rough calculations, I think it's about $20 per $2,000 Mac.

I'd rather have the Apple stores (and the genius bars) than the $20, honestly.

In addition, the only reason the iPods and iPhone are competitively priced is because Apple was able to grow so large that they can get cheaper prices on parts than they could with Macs (and their much smaller market share). In other words, less stores would probably mean less iPod/iPhone dominance which means higher prices thus negating whatever small savings you made in the first place.

It's more likely that the prices would be higher without the Apple Stores.

Quite right!

I added an edit to my post above as you were typing this. My analysis of cash is "if all other things are equal." But of course, an Apple without stores would sell fewer products which would lead to hire prices.

I see fat people.
