Am I one of the few that don't like the look? All the glass and modern Apple design touches don't mesh well with the brick building IMO.

I also think the largest Apple store in the world should be in the USA not the UK.

No one cares what you think.

London deserves this huge Apple Store! Wonder if I'll see Steve Jobs, I mean he was at the Paris opening after all.

I can't imagine how pricy that real estate must be. As ever, Apple shows its great taste when it comes to design. They deserve almost as much praise for the 'retail experience' they've crafted, as they do for their actual products.

Still a shame UK pricing is so harsh. :(

That was meant to be a light-hearted joke. Some of the fittest people that I ever met were Americans. In fact, I was surprised not to see any fat people in Manhattan the last time I have been there. That was the same in central-Boston.

All the fat people from Boston moved to Vermont, I think!  :apple: :p

To think I used to go clubbing downstairs in that building in the 90s when it was The Gardening Club.

It does look nice, but perhaps a little bland?!

So lots of hot new apple stores... which one is really "the best" though? 5th Avenue? It's located at the very top of luxury retail's shopping industry.

Studying in London

I am currently studying in London, and I went to Covent Gardens today and was able to take pictures from the outside. I will for sure be there for the opening on Saturday...

Enjoy the photos...

It's like buying Levi's for £20 from a normal store or £40 from a fancy chrome and glass levi only store..

Except you normally pay the same in the Apple Store as in any other, unless the other store is taking a cut from their own profit margins.

That might just be the problem... (I kid! I kid!)

I thought the same thing. ;)

I blame Gordon Brown.

To the guy who wants an all glass store... do you know how much static electricity that will make! computer equipment and static are a good combination. Not!

This store looks like it could be nicer than the NYC Upper East Side store...

I think Canary Wharf should get a store. There are tons of Men 24-45 with lots of money who love gadgets and anything status.

I'm surpised also that Dubai doesn't insist on getting the biggest Apple store in the world! Giant glass shaped Crescent Moon. And giant 100 ft touchscreen ipad simulator! Yeah!

I do believe I'll head down there on Saturday. Just maybe they'll have an iPad Camera Connector Kit!

i had the ipad camera connector kit on backorder and then i found them at the town center store in las vegas last week while visiting. if you can't find them in london, maybe you can call the las vegas town center store and get them to mail it to you.

Can we please get a little perspective...

Yes, this is a fantastic new store. But the homepage of MacRumors has been taken over by complete exaggeration.

There is NO WAY the entire 5th Ave apple store would fit in that Covent Garden atrium. Maybe the GLASS CUBE on top of the 5th ave store would fit in there. Has anyone actually watched that video or seen the pics? The courtyard in covent garden is maybe 600 sq/ft (~100sq/m). The apple store on 5th Ave (only estimating the retail area) is at least 5000-6000 sq/ft.

I'm happy for you London, but let's get real here. I was laying in bed last night reading the post thinking "my god, I can't wait to see a glass covered atrium that big!". Then I watch the video... total letdown.

i do believe per head of population the UK is the largest purchaser of apple products, so get over it

Great pictures, they remind me of visiting Flash sites on an iPad! :)

I purchased my first Mac under Blair. My first memory from the UK and Apple is from the Major government. Apple has been expensive in the last two decades.

I recently had to wait 2 weeks for a genius appointment at the Regent Street store and another 2 weeks quoted for repair (Mac Pro). I've wanted to buy an iPhone 4 but can't get anywhere near the counter - long queues even now, weeks after launch. Need to speak with a member of staff? Good luck finding one that doesn't have a string of customers waiting. The Covent Garden store will be a much welcomed blessing. I just hope there's room for a bit of decent shopping time without having to fight through crowds of people every day of the week!

Lol, feeling a bit vague after the event was a sign of the good times inside :)

Man, who pissed in your muesli this morning? Get some caffeine down your neck, there's a good lad :)

I've got a genius appointment there on Monday lunchtime. :)

For my 3GS, the screen on which has stopped responding this evening.

I wonder if I can persuade the fresh new genius staff to replace it free of charge.

And I'll be cycling there in my lunch hour on a BorisBike.

I'm quite in love with London at the moment!

Beautiful store. I love the juxtaposition of old and new, traditional and modern. Very tastefully done. Wish it were in my neighborhood.

Me too!!!

It's lovely!!!! I wish we had such pretty stores here to go shop in, heck, I'd live in it if they'd let me :D

I will look forward to one day seeing it in person!
