Jeez, I finally had to stop lurking these forums because this is ridiculous. It's like watching toddlers fight. First you're amused, then you're annoyed, then finally you wonder if they're mentally retarded for carrying on with something so futile and wonder what redeeming qualities they actually have in life.

ANYWAYS, GETTING BACK TO THE POINT. My two cents is that they modified the picture from a previous stock image of an already released MBPro. Although I would definitely love to see the new one in a darker metal.

Does anyone think that there might be a possibility of apple going with a darker color for the line? I think that something close to the color on their website navigation bar would look pretty cool (regardless of whether it's LM or not).

Yep, indeed I do think it's a possibility. I know some will tell you "it will never happen" but that's actually an opinion, not a fact. Maybe it will, maybe it won't.

So, we'll see! I'd love to see something in a dark silver-grey, pewter, charcoal-y, whatever you want to call it. I think it would actually look classier than the bright silver (although I don't dislike that color).

There might be a possibility, but there are pros and cons to it. If they DO switch the color, I would imagine that they would have to change a lot more of the internals and maybe the form factor to really distinguish it as the NEW better in every way 2011 MBPro. Apple buyers are (forgive me but this is true) narcissistic about themselves and the products they consume. The silver of the current generation shows people that they have an expensive piece of hardware for showing off. If they changed the color without doing many major upgrades then it doesn't distinguish the new model enough for people to care about (or gloat over).

Any thoughts?

First of all, I am assuming that if they did change the color, they would also be applying other internal upgrades as well. I think that your characterization of apple consumers is mostly accurate, but I think that if they changed the color, people would still go for it. They would be able to differentiate their new MBP from the "old" ones, at least for a little while, giving them their status symbol.

Agreed.

If they do change the color of the MBP ... what will happen to all the accessories such as the Magic Keyboard and Mouse? They will not match! oh oh! ...

Yay! Sales opportunities!

But actually, Magic Mouse is white so it doesn't match anyway. A black or dark gray one would be most attractive...

If it were true Apple would be all over them to take the ads down.

It would be a massive a diabolical mistake...I don't believe a company like Intel would make one that big.

To Dee: I haven't actually been able to find this ad anywhere... So perhaps it is already pulled?

Well crud. I liked the dog.

Ok, time to get back to the business of this thread, which is rampant conjecture and hopefulness. So, let's review:

The Intel ad, which now seems to exist only in blogs. This ad shows the yellow surf board and the guy in dark shorts. Also shows some very Mac-like elements, such as the infrared thingy on the front right edge, and the minimize/maximize buttons on the left side of one of the windows, and the artsy lighted diagonal in exactly the same place that Apple usually shows it.

The current MacBook Pro photo from Apple's website. What's that? A guy on a yellow surf board... in dark shorts.

Then, we go to Intel's current home page, where we find a completely different computer, now with a visible logo (looks like a Dell), but the same exact photo they used on the other ad (which may have been pulled because it can't be found anywhere), but for some reason, they've made the surfboard purple. And they've moved the artsy lighted diagonal to the left side of the screen.

Certainly, can just be a photo-shopped, thinned-out current MBP. But where is the fun in that? Isn't it more exciting and enjoyable to think that A) Intel effed up? Or B) Apple is toying with all of us drooling consumers, giving us little bits here and little bits there?

I go with B.

The apocalypse!!!!

- Sandy Bridge was delayed (as to my knowledge) by a shortage
- MacBook Pros have been released every 8 - 10 months since 2008
- March is the 10th month (hence the delay)
- They just changed the Apple homepage from white to black [IMPORTANT]
- MAYBE just MAYBE this is a hint towards the MBP and maybe the iMac too?
- The iMac needs a refresh and the homepage is a liquid metal sort of color
- Try to find the ad ANYWHERE Apple took it down silently so nobody knew
- The Ad has the glare on the top of the screen every mac is pictured with
- Look on the far left picture you can see the red/yellow/green buttons on top
- You can tell the MBP logo on bottom of screen and the camera are edited out

YOU HEARD IT FROM SWISH DON'T STEAL MY IDEAS
SORRY IF YOU ALREADY SAID THIS I HAVEN'T READ ANYTHING ON THIS THREAD YET

p.s. that macbook pro mockup is just a regular macbook pro with it's color changed to black

Everything you said is either wrong, or has been mentioned already. Sorry, but you're FAR from first.

Just might be it

Gotta say I have a felling this might be real.

But i am a bit dazzles by the question of the GPU and good cooling.

The thinner it gets, the harder it becomes for the heat to be transported out.

But hey black is perfect :)

What is wrong about it? Please let me know so I can fix it, obviously since you know everything. And I DID say that I didn't read this thread so I don't know what has and hasn't been posted.

This is 100% dope

This is 100% Photoshop

Why would they have the same EXACT design but just in black? They are using a new type of outside since the aluminum is terrible and I can never get a full WiFi signal for over an hour with it (don't care about yours, just saying what mine does) It is liquid metal a new and better alternative. It will be a darker gray maybe even black (if we are luck).

The screen of that laptop in the ad is 253x151, which is an aspect ratio of 1.67. That is neither 16:10 (1.60) nor 16:9 (1.78), so it has to be a rendering.
