Here's what I think everyone should consider:

1. There's a reason why this is on Page 2
2. All of the laptops in the ad are heavily photoshopped and one includes a blackened MBA with a reduced bezel
3. ALL of the images you see on the screen are photoshopped in
4. The fact that the image was (well spotted) suggested to be a new version of Final Cut Pro (i don't use it so don't know what it looks like) may mean the image was given to intel by apple and disguised
5. Growing up and shutting up about the colour of liquidmetal

Through much of this thread, I kept hearing the theme song from "An Affair to Remember."

Steve Jobs media event:

"So we want to talk about portables today. You cant talk about portables without talking about the ipod, iphone, and the ipad. Jesus you guys love em...you bought so many of em Im having a Mercedes made of hundred dollar bills (beat that Woz...you and your lame pad of two dollar bills.) Anyway, Macbook Airs. We're sooo sold out these firecrackers Im hawking my private stash away on ebay for double retail under the handle "AndroidSux."

So we thought about all this...we being me because Schiller was eating his way outta house and home and Im basically in this alone...and what did I learn...I looked at iTunes. And you know what I learned? Black is trending well. People like Black. Black Eyed Peas. JayZ. Men in Black. Back in Black. Black Celebration. Black is beautiful. And that's when this came to me (pulls curtain off the laptop in the Intel Ad.)

Our new....BlackBook Pro."

The website design already matches the iOS UI. They don't have to change anything. It's black glass. No matter what the enclosure is chances are there will be a black glass bezel around their machines(at least in the immediate future).
it does? I don't see the dark gray anywhere.

You keep on claiming that liquid metal can be any color possible but I have yet to see a single image that is anything but what I've been posting. I've been scouring the web for images. So you're telling me that ALL of these examples looking the same is just a coincidence? Show me a clear image of liquidmetal that you know isn't anodized that doesn't look like what I've been posting. That's all I'm asking for and I'll surrender.
it can be, via alloys or possibly anodization. Why does LM have to be 'pure' for apple to use it?

Zirconium is listed as being silvery white under wikipedia, matches up just as fine as before. But yes, I did make a mistake in that regard.[/QUOTE]

Wow, talk about a stretch. It looks like a pretty generic laptop, influenced by the MacBook Pro. Generic gadgets often have influenced designs of Apple products. However, I'm pretty sure that screen-shot on the screen itself is one used by Apple before.

Oh and androidpwns:

Strong screengrab ( aimed at someone on ignore? ) LMAO

Haha, So i literally whipped this up in like two minutes flat in photoshop.
Whatever this may imply, these things are looking more and more similar, far too much so to be coincidental.
But maybe that's just blinding hope.

(Open both in tabs and switch back and forth to see just how relative they are to each other.)

So the fact that you "whipped them up" in Photoshop so quick... Is that supposed to lend credibility to it being a generic marketing illustration or an actual design leak?

The idea one can quickly make a real looking mock up in Photoshop is telling you what now???

Why is this a 7 page ....

Nm..

Ok, seriously? I don't always agree with asdf542 but that post you quoted is clearly directed toward those who think that this is the new MacBook Pro and has nothing to do with asdf542. Stop trying to troll.

yes, no?

I do not know; I am skeptical myself. but it is a rather sexy machine.

It would make sense to come out with darker macbooks this refresh, due to the change in color of the website and the approaching release of Lion this summer. We all know that Apple loves subtle hints.

Grey? It's only a slightly lighter shade then what they use already in iOS. It even has the split in half reflection look.

Still haven't shown me anything.

That UI element is the same UI element in iOS folders. Besides the fact that you are comparing general window elements to launchpad folder elements.

I appreciate it. But the guy isn't worth yours or my time. There's nothing a troll hates more than to be ignored, because there isn't much trolling to be had when the guy is talking to himself.

this is really thin if this is one of the upcoming macbook pro... so thin that i only think that SSD is the only option...

however, from the image, it seems like an ios volume scroll...

So when adverts for a new music service has a generic music player that resembles an ipod, people on the ipod forum are going 'OMG IS THIS THE NEW IPOD?!?!' No.

When a new phone service is released and they show a generic touch-screen phone that resembles an iphone, people on the iphone forum are going 'OMG IS THIS THE NEW IPHONE?!?!' No.

You would think that those looking to buy a macbook 'pro' to be a little more intelligent than that, but alas, here we are genuinely discussing if that might be the case with the new model.

Come on guys, you can do better than that.

Oh, and as for the colour of liquid metal, I think I speak for all of us when I say SHUT UP!! Nobody cares and youre wasting my time!!

you're going to have to include iOS screenshot. I have no idea what you're talking about.

I've shown you an alloy as well as a supposedly anodized version. You've still not explained why either the alloys or anodization isn't sufficient for you. They're technically producable, no question.

OR: How about this(just noticed this): the top of the quick look bar in OS X looks exactly like the new Apple website design.

You haven't shown me anything that isn't anodized that matches those original bars posted nor have you shown me anything that doesn't resemble what I've posted that isn't anodized. If Apple wanted to anodize their aluminum machines to be any color in the rainbow they would have done so a while ago as they've done it on the iPod line for as long as I can remember.

Also, as Erasmus pointed out, liquid metal basically consists of zirconium/titanium metals which are listed as being silvery white under Wikipedia which just leads to my point that you have still yet to post anything that doesn't resemble what I've posted. You've only posted anodized which there's no debate on. The main topic here are the raw bars that weren't anodized.

All that you're showing me is more of the website. Supposedly you're claiming the iOS itself actually matches this color scheme in some regard. It does not. It's all light gray. Please show me a screenshot of iOS that resembles the dark gray or further clarify what you're talking about.

Why would I post something that matches if my intent is to show differences?

nor have you shown me anything that doesn't resemble what I've posted that isn't anodized.

Except for the platinum liquid metal alloy (and an explicit statement that they can make other alloys with different appearances).

But you've given no evidence to suggest that Apple won't anodize this new metal, if that is their intention. Moreover, and yet again, the various alloys will not look like what you've posted, depending upon their content.

Of course, the assertion that apple will go to LM and use a darker color that matches the website design is speculation, but there are currently no grounds on which to dismiss it on the premise that LM cannot look like that. We know from on the market products that it can.

Yanno, no one here has any real knowledge of what Apple plans to do... regardless of how knowledgeable they sound.

So, it's all fun and games until someone pokes their eye out.
