I'm in the exact same position, how old is yours? Mines 6 years old this month. As soon as I got the iPad 2 my iMac use was completely destroyed. Can't make up my mind if I should get the rMPB or just hold on to the iMac for another year.

Mine is about 5 years old. It still works great without issues but i find that new apps are much more demanding and my core 2 duo doesn't keeps up that well anymore. And i can forget about editing HD videos as its painfully slow. In the end i want to new computer but not necessarily need one.

May I remind you that there's been a delay in Intel Haswell as well, why do you think barely any PC manufactures have any decent line up of computers featuring Intel Haswell as of yet?

It's not only Apple being late to the game (even though MacBook Air Mid-2013 was one of the very first major line up of notebooks featuring Intel Haswell on a global market) but manufactures in general, I can't really remember when we had such a slow adoption of a new series of Intel across the board, it's not only Apple but basically every major manufacture in the world.

But it might seem like the difficulties are over, more and more are starting to push Intel Haswell based system across the board lately.

As for the rest its more of an educated guess as where is that much money involved there are always shady things happening legal or not but that is just a fact of life in business, politics.

Hmmm, you seem a little jaded.

Wouldn't a Haswell/Broadwell option in the Mac Pro be useful for people who do not want a super expensive CPU but want a cheaper one that's still fast?

Hmm, I was planning to get the rMBP when they were updated next year for Broadwell. I understand it's just yield issues that they claim, but Intel operates like clockwork when it comes to it's release cadence and manufacturing, perhaps there are other issues. I'm okay skipping a generation and waiting for the Skylake rMBP. If they are to indeed be released as scheduled.

Disappointing to hear. I was really looking forward to see a 14nm chip sooner rather than later.

1. Recently apple paying off iOS developer not to release the game just yet on android...nothing wrong with that fact but its not something apple wants to share
2. RIP Steve buying new identical cars so he could avoid having a license plate...Once a gain nothing wrong but strange and funny :) well man valued his privacy
3. The whole iBooks pricing issue...Some interesting meetings and planing had to be there...
4. I remember a story from few years ago where apple purposely would allocate way more parts than needed just not to let them be available for competition and then later reduce the order significantly.

Based on that, it would seem infinitely more scintillating what goes on behind the closed door of the men's bathroom at Apple HQ.

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. But this is how businesses work in US and overseas. Except i found that in Europe its more in the open while in US its more concealed. But hey some people like to be informed others watch FOX News

Clearly there are plans to release thinner and lighter notebooks (currently rumored as the 12" Air-like unit). It would make sense that they are waiting for the 10nm architecture of Skylake to make said notebooks a reality.

Looks like Skylake in 2015 is the next stop for me.

You like to stay informed on things that happen behind closed doors? Isn't the point about what goes on behind closed doors is that you don't know? And the list of leanings ("facts") you displayed is hardly spurious or indicative of the blanketed shenanigans that you assume happen everywhere.

I really don't care what others do at mens bathrooms. But if you find it so interesting you should visit other websites that are more relevant. I am not here to pointlessly argue with anyone, you simply asker a question i answered. Your comments lack intelligence and its a real shame as you seem to have excellent vocabulary. I hope you will put it to good use one day.

I'd like to know about the progress of their research into laser-based microprocessors, nanotube tech, that tri-gate stuff and things like that... I imagine eventually the silicon stuff will give way to more advanced tech.

My comments may "lack intelligence" but your's lack substance. To claim shady behavior but not be able to back it up will subject you to MR ridicule every time.

Interesting... I find it's just the opposite. I find information gets out in the US more than overseas, either through leaks or standard channels, because:

a. There are a lot more lawsuits/legal action in the USA than Europe, which often results in "closed" information being revealed publicly.

b. If you are familiar with GAAP, stockmarkets, regulatory bodies, etc., you would be aware that the US is one of a small number of countries (the UK being the most notable other) that traditionally have had the most rigorous reporting standards for public corporations.

c. I wonder how you could possibly have objective evidence that
Europe is more open than the US. You would have to have some insight into what information is being revealed vs. what is successfully kept secret. Are you assuming, perhaps, that because you hear less, then there is less to hear?

Good for apple, since they always seem a bit behind on the cpu release. Maybe not they can have the regularly fresh from intel.
