This rumor makes sense - the single core variants of the Yonah are due out around then, so we could definitely see Apple implement those chips in the iBook and Mac mini. It will be interesting to see what Apple does with the performance edition of the dual core Yonah though when it is released around the same time....

And then, we wait for Merom, which will get slapped in the PowerBook and iMac, followed by Conroe in the PowerMacs, dual core Yonah in the iBooks and Mac minis, and then Woodcrest in the Xserve. It's all good baby.

Anyway... do we have any reason to believe that this information is accurate?

Do we have any reason to not believe that this information is accurate? Sure he is a newbie but what does that mean? Im not sitting in here playing a DVD on my new Apple Plasma screen!

if you know that to a 100% certainty, then you must also know something about what the new ibook/macbook will be, right?

Anything on specs? Form factor? Physical dimensions?

I hope you're right, but you can't blame us for being skeptical. Why is it everytime someone does this, even if they're right, they have to get belligerent about it? We'd like to believe you, but if you had a little more info, maybe we would be happier with the news. ;)

30th anniversary. A dig deal for apple, not just for Jobs but also for all the product, web, graphic....etc designers.

Don't you think that they will release cool stuff? Use your brain.

My source is from China. Who made ipods... who made most of the apple computer parts? the chinese. The Factories down southern China. Where do they ship the Nanos? from ShenZhen, China (a city right next to Hong Kong). All shipments go from HK to SF or LA.

That's all i wanna say. ibook in April? why not? Isight? why not? bluetooth mouse? why not? whatelse? you name it.

Please be patient. Cool stuff is going to happen in April. Intel Powermac? When is it going to come out? Well, the prototype is somewhere in the bay area.

proof? proof what my friend. 90 days away.

Apple pushed the macbook and imac out for the year 2006. Don't tell me they didn't.

well, they got a second shot. a big shot.

Please don't believe me. How about this ---> ibook may not ever out, coz they may discontiune the product. ibook is going to die. Therefore, ibook talk is end.

It wasn't very insulting ... it's more like dangling candy in front of a 8 year old. Hey, I want a Intel Prototype ....

Hey powermac_daddy, is there a Mac Tablet computer in the works?

What the hell? Let me tell you, I love my Apple iBook and it is in MINT condition BECAUSE I baby it so much. I love Apple computers but my VAIO laptop (which I also baby which is why no scratches yet) but also happens to be Made in Japan and in the context of build quality kicks the crap out of the build quality of my Made in China iBook.

according to my source #415AP510SF

apple is going to release the intel ibook in April

100%

all the bullcrap codes will be fixed by then

that's all i can say here

So excuse my ignorance but what does that source number refer to? Also what do you mean by bullcrap codes being fixed?

My source tells me that the whole mac line will transition to Intel by year's end! No, wait, that was the Keynote I was thinking of. Is it a shocker in any way shape or form that we'll see new macs throughout this year given that the transition is stated to take place over the next 11 months?

If you have all this information why not back it up by telling us more about the specifics of the product. There were rumors right after the macbook pro was released that a cheaper version was going to be available in that timeframe so it just seems like piggybacking. Why not add something more specific because if you are so sure about that fact there must be loads of other stuff you know.

Agreed. March/April - 30th anniversary makes this a logical inductive reasoning which has already been bounced around the forums. Any inside contact should be able to provide more info on things we are really interested in such as screen size and other specs...

daul core
wide screen

source is from china, coz prototypes were sent to china.
other source is from the bay, such as "powermac" prototypes is out.

well. like i said before. ibook life is over, die. you may never see that baby ever again. so... shall we just cut it out?

be patient...

I think what he is trying to say is, ibook title is gone, it's now called MacBook.

I also think we should just wait and not dismiss what could be fact.

From the info that has already been released, his predictions are somewhat believable.

My girlfriend is eagerly anticipating the new iBook/MacBook and i can't help but get excited with her.

Rich.

cool. I don't need all of the high power in the mac book pro, but i would like dual core power. A wide screen would also be cool. If its the LV dual core i would buy (i would even without it). Just i want better speakers. I know its hard, but if apple can put desktop quality speakers in their laptops, they could get more buyers.

Also, i might think that when he says ibook is dead, they are combining the lines (MacBook) and the new ibook might be an ultra-portable. A dual core in an ibook does seem unlikely, but in an ultra-portable, that is likely. I remember the handles they had in the old ibooks, if they could make that better, that could be a good point. This is my order of buying: If ibook looks the same, no buy, if they make an ultra-portable, that is a high buy. But either is fine. I JUST WANT A NEW DESIGN ESPECIALLY IN THE iBOOKS. The ibook has been so minorly redesigned since 2001 (i think). Thats longer than the powerbook!

What you are saying doesn't make that much sense though because the two cheapest dual core yonahs are already in the powerbooks; they opted out of using the two higher end ones. The only two chips that are cheaper are single core variants.

The core solo is such a similar price to the core duo. I would be willing to pay the extra $32 for the duo. I think that alot of people would be willing to pay $1,031, instead of $999 for a ccore duo. I don't think that the ibook will have an isight (standard), which saves them a couple hundred dollars. Its hard to tell what is in store for the new ibook. I think that they might just combine the line and make an ultra-portable. But thats just what i think.

The issue isn't wheter people will pay an extra $32 for the Duo - The issue is on Apple's end. They won't give their low-end laptops the Duo, because it would hurt the sales of the MacBook Pro.

Also, I seriously doubt skipping the integration of an iSight would save a couple hundred dollars - webcams aren't exactly expensive. Keep in mind the standalone iSight is $149, and there's probably a pretty large profit margin there. My bet is the iSight for the MacBook Pro doesn't cost any more than fifty bucks to manufacture - probably even less than that.
