Apple definitely needs a design change on the iBook...errr MacBook? I mean they've had this design forever.

But something has to fall in between the 1.66 Core-Duo MacBook and 1.83 Core-Duo MBP. The difference between $1299 and $1999 is just far too big. I'm guessing on another $1599 13.3" MacBook Pro with a low-voltage 1.66GHz Core-Duo or maybe even a 1.83GHz Core-Duo and a superior GPU. There just has to be something in between that will satisfy the Pros that are looking for something ultra portable.MacMusician said:I don't think there will be a smaller version of the PRO. I think the 13-inch MacBook will be the successor of both the 12 inch iBook and Powerbook (it will most likely be much faster than either model). And I think Legacy's specs sound pretty much on the money: The G4 iBook and MacMini have usually fallen under similar processor speeds.
My guess is they will be white, like the iPod.jahnewnoise said:My guess is they will be black, like the iPod.

RollTide said:I am a college student, and a Mac fan for a couple years now, even though I have never owned one. I have read many posts and have tried to keep up with the recent Apple systems. I am definetly ready to become a switcher. I am looking at the Macbook very heavily, but I was wondering about a few things. I like to play games, like Call of Duty, Halo and games that take up as much or more of my comp.(although games aren't extremely important, but it's nice to know that you can, and with a 128 gb vcard, you can) I also like to do a little photowork, which I figure mac has to be better than what I have now and do it faster. I know that office 2003 should work well under Rosetta, especially with a core duo. with one gb ram, probably all I need. I was going to get a Macbook when they came out, but honestly I only need it right before school, so I might as well wait until leopard comes out and also hope the price drops a little over a few months. The thing I did not want to wait for was mermon( sry bout my spelling) I have heard mixed predictions about 64 bit, and as speed is not extremely important for me, and as long as programs are written in 32 bit for a few years, I will be happy, basically I want to know that for the things I will use it for will 32 bit and the Mac be good for me
I appreciate any help

I thought that was kinda funny
longofest said:This just in!!! Shard, you must have inside information, because I just got ahold of some imagery that is to be released from the Press when the MacBook is released, and wow is it sexy.
It is black AND white, and has a no-latch lid akin to the no-latch lid ID'd by the rumors of a magnetic lid. This thing is just too sexy...![]()

They've got to get into a new form factor for the iBook, er MacBook - and for the Mac Pro, IMHO. The iMac, Mac Mini and MacBook Pro are all pretty much the same as they were but with Intel inside. Seems to me that Apple is just rushing to get the Intel transition behind them at the expense of form factor. Sure the existing boxes are good. The iMac, and Mac Mini are state of the art. But I was hoping for more with the MacBook Pro. I will continue to wish for a new and exciting iBook/MacBook. I've already got almost enough in the bank. Bring it on AppleDeepdale said:I would warmly welcome such a change, although as the day gets closer I lower my personal expectations.
Legacy said:What do you guys think of this for MacBook Predictions. I am pretty sure the iSight will be part of the MacBook simply because I do not see a MacBook Pro 13" being released and I think Apple is pushing the iSight to go idea in Notebooks to accord with their iChat software.
1. 'Solo' model. Given that MacMini retails for $599, an extra $400 used to add 13.3" TFT, Keyb/Trackpad and built-in iSight Camera. Aimed at the modest consumer eg; student who has good general demands and multimedia flexibility (ie iSight, HD playback etc)

dansgil said:If these were the specs why would anyone buy the iBook over the MacBook. If they are the same price, and the MacBook has a nicer enclosure, the iBook would be pointless. If the MacBook was $1599, and had a slightly better graphics card or some other feature, both may sell.

Low Voltage Duo: 15W
Ultra Low Voltage Duo: 9W

I think Ultra Low Voltage processors are not out yet. due in April, I believe.

OSX on the G5 was 64bit, so what happens to it on 32bit CPUs?
Presumably, also, intel will move to 64bit versions of all their cores (in the world of PC's, this is becoming an issue for them). Will apple then release iMac's, in say, 12 months time, with 64 bit versions?

It doesnt really worry me for media centre use in a mac mini, or even in my home/play computer (which'll be a 20" iMac) - but my work PC spends its entire life running java apps at full volume - the extra oomph will be useful.
JoeKarame said:I have a sneaking suspicion that the new iBooks will have that integrated graphics chip that the minis now have...
It won't bother me too much if the screen is widescreen and the resolution is upped a notch.
As soon as the thing is annouced in whatever form, I'll be buying one.
It's only right and proper - It took incredible amounts of self-control not to buy a Macbook Pro when I was in New York last week - simply down to the fact I was waiting to see what/if/when the iBooks are released.
Apple better not let me down...
MacRumorUser said:Well me too, but there will be 2 models to justify the price range.
Lower $999 will undoubtably use the GMA950, but the $1500 will use either the x1600 or x1400 I suspect...
