No, the new logos should be "OSX and XP inside." After all, its just a matter of time on the new Intel's. Why wait for some script kiddies to figure it out. Just do it Apple from the start.

No Way, José

Intel logos/stickers on Macs?
Let's ask Jonathan Ive what he thinks about that idea.
Yeah, we won't see an Intel logo/sticker on any Apple hardware.

Intel logos/stickers on packaging?
Guaranteed.

A combined Apple/Intel logo?
Never. It's called branding.
It's like Nike changing their swoosh because they're now using Goodyear rubber in their product - not happening. That swoosh is staying, much like this Apple.

I can't believe this is a thread... nor that I replied. LOL ;)

You will see some form of Intel logo on the box. However no stickers on the "product inside." ;) :D

Apple does this with the PPC logo as well, its on the box however not on the product itself. Then again Steve Jobs has been loosing his mind as of recent so anything is possible.

All those stupid stickers... :Q But if I would get 50€ (or $50 if you like) off the price because of a sticker that I can remove, I certainly would take it.

You just don't get it, do you. Apple customers like to pay an extra $50, as long as there is no sticker on the product. ;)

Maybe Apple should make deals with every manufacturer of every part of every Mac, and put a sticker for each on the outside. If you're gonna pollute the clean look of a Mac with labels, you might as well go all the way.

Plus if it's going to reduce the cost of owning a Macintosh; I say, "why not." ;)

nothing a little rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover can't solve

However, it will still feel "dirty." ;)

I think that the new stickers look like they are going to be placed at the back of computer since they are BW.
I wouldn't assume that. The graphics I posted earlier in the thread are monochrome, but that's just the way marks are registered. Color claims are rarely included, because registering the line art alone provides broader protection. Intel are still free to use any color scheme they like.

I agree. No stickers.

They'll probably be imprinted on the side of the Mac itself. I figure they'll replace the glowing Apple on the Powerbook with a Intel logo instead.

...

and there goes a hefty chunk of their sales.

come on...a glowing intel logo? really? how well do you think that would be recieved? maybe small...next to the keyboard...but not on the top of the freaking thing.

I would bet that Intel-based Macs won't sport any Intel branding for one reason: customer confusion.

For years, Apple has pushed the PPC and promoted itself as an alternative to Intel-based PCs. There is a hardcore group of power users and Mac fans out there (i.e., most people posting here) who know that the Intel switch won't matter much in the long run, but there are many, many casual Mac users who will be utterly bewildered by an Intel sticker or logo on the outside of their next Mac purchase. Talk to casual Mac users and you'll see that many of them either don't know that Apple is switching chips or are peripherally aware of it but don't have an inclination to find out more. They do know that Intel = Windows PC and that Macs are not Windows PCs. I very much doubt that Apple will risk freaking out so many customers with any mention of Intel on future Macs.

Just IMO. I could be wrong.

These are the official replacements Intel have filed so far.

Here are some colored logos that were on Wikipedia.

Intel-Core-Solo.gif

Here are some more that were on x86-secret.com.
The Celerons are a lighter blue and the Xeons are a darker blue or black.

Maybe they'll just laser-engrave Intel on it. Either where the Intel Inside stickers are on the windows laptops or on the bottom. They get their advertising and it won't ruin Apple design (that much).

EDIT: I also think that they will put the sticker or some other kind of marketing on the box.

lol wow... i can't believe i'm contributing to the post count of this thread. anyway, i doubt there'll be any stickers on the actual product. certainly on the box. the new stickers are kinda purdy, i wouldn't mind them on the comps 'cos you could just peel them off. no biggie.

Yea, a small laser engraving on the bottom of notebooks would be totally fine with me.... somebody had a mockup somewhere... (the most vague statement ever) and it didnt look too bad :)

Edit: Like where the FCC logo is and things like that

I personally wouldn't mind having the stickers there if Intel will help with the costs and bring Mac prices down.

Besides, is it really that difficult to just peal the damn thing off if you don't like/want it there? Sheesh!

It's not like it's going to be stamped/etched/engraved on the casing or anything.

Intel gives computer manufacturers a better price on processors if they use the sticker. They also will pay a small portion of advertising costs if the logo appears in an ad. I'm sure Apple and Intel will work something out that helps the Intel brand without ruining Apple's. People shouldn't be concerned.

How do you know that? We're just speculating about what Intel might offer payment for and what Apple's reaction would be. And we don't know that any such payment would reduce our purchase costs either. It might simply go into another Apple budget.

Those logos aren't the campaign.

Those logos aren't the marketing campaign. Those are the logos that they slap on boxes and manuals. The marketing campagin is probably going to be VIIV.

I would not accept a sticker on the machine. I want the simple clean design and lines that Apple makes. People can stick their own stickers on if they want but no ads on mine. Apple does that and they're going to lose customers over style.

are you being serious..? you think people will boycott the machines because it's got a tiny REMOVEABLE sticker on it....? ok. GET LIVES!

Intel are not going to promote only their consumer offerings and stop talking about their mobile, business and server technology. Viiv is irrelevant to many of their core markets.

I could maybe see a logo or something on the box but I also agree that there is no way Jobs will let an Intel sticker on any mac product.

I disagree completely.

The old Apple was idealistic to the point of weakness.

The new Apple is pragmatic and focuses on the bottom line, as people here are so happy to point out.

Apple *will* take the money. And, they'll take the opportunity to blur the distinction between their systems and the "other" systems, making the choice to switch that much simpler.

"This one has Intel, and so does this one. And they're both the same price" (since Intel pays a portion of both of their advertising)

I hope Apple doesn't go forward to removing Firewire with the iBook line and to rub it in they put a Firewire logo crossed out on a sticker in addition to the Intel sticker.

Perhaps they will add that back in the spec if they read the comments posted a few weeks ago by everyone. New iBooks will ship in Feb 2006 (delayed to add firewire back in and remove all the stickers).

There are probably also a lot of hardcore mac fans that have been utterly bewildered since Steve announced the switch ;)
