If that is Intel's plan they must be thinking their shareholders are drooling clueless idiots. Any Intel shareholder that has been paying attention knows AMD is the real threat in the x86 space and be annoyed Intel is effectively wasting money that would go into R&D to deal with a company that at best has perhaps 10% of the computer marketshare.
AMD is a threat in the enthusiasts DIY segment, but everywhere else, intel still rules as intel has the contracts with the heavy OEMs like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, etc for the bulk of their lineup. AMD cannot match the volume that intel has, yet, nor have the capital to provide the marketing support to OEMs.

I like that they don't show the power bricks that come with modern day laptops. Also what about heat the intel chips have? what about the power consumption? what about the battery life? I have a M1 and know I made the right choice! INTEL RIP

Intel are worried and getting desperate. Why do they also focus on touch screen? Has anyone ever used it in day to day use on a laptop? It’s gimmicky and just not very useful. I have never seen anyone in the real world use it on a laptop.

I think people take these "adverts" far too seriously. It just seems tongue in cheek to me.
I know most here have to justify why their choice is always best, but it is OK for all options to be seen as good.

There are some great 11th gen Intel laptops, some great AMD laptops, and the current crop of M1 laptops are great.

As part of its barrage of attacks against M1 Macs, Intel this week launched a "PC vs. Mac" website that's biased heavily in favor of PC machines that are equipped with Intel chips and that makes questionable claims about Apple's M1 Mac lineup.

intel-go-pc-justin-long.jpg

Intel's website says that Apple's M1 Mac benchmarks don't "translate to real-world usage" and that when compared to PCs with 11th-Generation Intel chips, M1 MacBook features "just don't stack up."

Intel positions PCs as more "personalized" to fit a user's "specific hardware and software needs," while the M1 Macs offer "limited" device support, games, and creation applications. "The bottom line is a PC offers users a choice, something that users don't get with a Mac," reads the website.

PCs offer a "complete touch screen" instead of the "constrained Mac Touch Bar," along with "2 for 1 Form Factor options" while Apple makes customers pay for "multiple devices and gear." The website highlights specific software like AI-based content creation tools from Topaz Labs that are allegedly faster on 11th-generation Intel Core chips, and faster Chrome performance.Intel this week launched a major anti-Apple silicon ad campaign targeting the M1 Macs. A series of ads released on YouTube star former "I'm a Mac" actor Justin Long extolling the benefits of Intel-based PC machines.

The reek of desperation is not doing Intel any favours. Its not just Apple they should be worrying about. The main problem is their own inability to progress technological advancement in chip manufacturing and where outsourcing will become the name of the game, leaving Intel if they are not careful a name consigned to history.

.
”Limitless” creation applications vs “limited?”

Sure.
Be surprised if
Back off Limitless Intel. No one cares about you no more.

Just wait till M1 Mac’s are out.

Rude awakening..

Can we just talk about this movie lol 🍿

yes the use of the word limitless means this advert will be consigned to areas where there is less control over content.

No computer can be described as having limitless games. Its enough in the UK to get the advert censured if it appears in any magazine or on TV.

Some areas have Advertising Standards Authority or similar and I doubt they'd accept misleading terminology.

Personally the more adverts they do, the more damage I believe they are doing to themselves.

I must honestly admit that they are right. That's true, but what I want from a laptop is better in a Mac. ;)
In addition, it is the first generation in budget laptops.
Touch screen. Not for me. So called "limitless" often equates to a much greater potential for incompatibility, a much greater requirement to require user intervention in set ups, etc. etc.

As for limitless games....Why even put a term "Limitless" in there that is so patently incorrect in definition and law.

I don't know, I think Windows 10 works pretty snappy and stably on the Mac Pro (Mid 2010) I run it on with RX 5700 XT graphics. But then again I use it mostly for gaming.

But I do agree that it's not so beautiful when it comes to somethings ”under the hood” and I do think MacOS has a better user interface overall. But I do like the built-in way Windows 10 handles window management (i.e. what the Magnet app on MacOS mimics).

Also, the ”show desktop” button is the lower right corner of Windows 10 is something I sometimes miss on MacOS. One can always cmd/option-click the Finder in the dock, but it's a bit more fiddly...

Trying to make a meny bar item that takes care of that in MacOS, but have so many other things that takes focus in this life. :)
Hot corners... Not an option?

I predict in 10 years apple will supplant intel as the world leaders in cpu shipments

think about it , the m1 is the first desktop apple silicon and its blown everything away , imagine what the iMac and pro models will be like in just a few years !

mind-blowing :apple: 🤩

It's a bit like Ford attacking Porsche for not making a van or having anything with decent off-road ability. Except actually, they're only attacking a specific small range, so it's more like they're complaining that the 911 range doesn't have a van variant.

It's silly, but then it's just marketing.

Yeah, it's not nice when one PC manufacturer attacks another using highly misleading and selective claims and exaggerated distortions is it... welcome to "I'm a Mac" payback Apple. Not nice is it?

I don’t think Apple has said a word about Intel
To someone familiar with British English slang that is a riot. For those unfamiliar Twit means 'someone silly or stupid'. See Monty Python's 1970 Upper Class Twit of the Year.

Reminds me of a urban legend joke about the US auto makers. Chevrolet was puzzled why its Nova car wasn't saying well in Latin American countries - until somebody pointed out that "No va" means "No go" in Spanish. :p
Yes, I’m sure the producers of TWIT (a streaming network on YouTube “This Week In Tech”) named themselves TWIT as a pun.

The M1 Chip is a strong CPU that will destroy Intel by speed, battery, and intelligence. It has as much cores as Intel too.
No matter how good or bad apple silicon does, they won’t get apple back in a long time, if ever. Their competition is AMD, and things are not looking good for them.

They aren't actually wrong, but obviously they are focusing only non-chip related strengths. Macs *do* have outdated and limited form factors with fewer ports. However, I'm guessing the next generation macs coming in the summer/fall will close that gap a bit.

It's unfortunate that Intel has to rely on attributes PC's might possess that have nothing to do with Intel's products.
Outdated form factors? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. There is a reason the current laptop form factor (pioneered by Apple btw, previous laptops had the keyboard forward) has lasted so long.
Perhaps you mean some of the folding/twisting convertible models? They are different but not any more advanced. They compromise on some features to offer others that, so far, the market has more than relegated to an also ran. Apple isn’t a company that tries to cover all possible markets.

Thats a pretty skeptical view. The M1's have only been around a couple of months, proven to be faster when Apps are released specifically for ARM and most developers are only catching up to releasing native Apps.

And that's on the first try.

I don’t think so. You could argue how superior the A13 is compared to qualcomm, how modern it is, the excellent management of battery and memory it does... And yet people prefer 300$ android phones because they’re 300$. Same thing with macs. You can get a pc laptop from less than half the cost the cheaper offering apple has. Don’t bother preaching the differences, I know them and I prefer macs. Most people don’t.

If apple silicon somehow cuts the price of the computer dramatically, then maybe macs will rise in market share. I don’t see that happening. Go explain the average Joe he has to buy a computer that’s twice as expensive because M1 is SO great, see what happens.

By the way, apple intentionally only competes on the premium market even if it means getting around 10% market share, because it’s the only way to have the margins they want to have. And they seem to be doing fine.

Intel probably have some intelligence on what Apple is cooking for M1X, M2 or whatever it ends up being called in order to start such a strong marketing campaign. They KNOW that this ARM processor would beat the hell out of the best Intel laptop chip for a fraction of power consumption. They KNOW that the integrated graphics in the next M chip would be superior or equal to mid-range dedicated GPUs that OEMs are putting in their Windows laptops if rumors a true.

I'm kinda happy that Intel is doing this, because now this will force Apple to make those changes that we all want

Yes, but I am not sure how that does have anything to do with Intel! How does Intel have any control on PC's form factor, colors, ports etc! And not all PC's use Intel. They use AMD too. And they are focusing on things that don't highlight their processor advantages over Apple silicone (as there would be any) but on general PC vs Mac instead.
