Hey, I’d much rather have more ports than needed than carry dongles around tbh. That and quite a few windows laptops no longer include VGA.Errr really? Intel dings dongles yet they make you lug them in as legacy ports. View attachment 1745603

Its not the first time though. AMD doesn't have a very good track record like Intel does. I would rather choose a more stable system than one that gets 3-5 more FPS and I could potentially lose USB.Been identified by AMD and they've issued new Firmware to resolve, few days ago.
I think it works perfectly. They do have a sense of humor and don’t take themselves seriously.I mean they could have come up with a far better acronym. It is like Committee to Re Elect the President aka CREP.
Designs are far ahead of production. Apple designed those computers based on what Intel's roadmap was. When Apple came knocking they found Intel had a flat tire. Then they found the package was so buggy that is should have came with a. can of RAID.
I'm not an anti-PC guy, working on them with Windows based OSs is part of my job but I have to say they've really slipped off over the last several years in both hardware and the OS. I currently own 3 different Microsoft Surface Pros and they simply cannot compare to the current MBP M1, it outperforms them in every way.
As part of its barrage of attacks against M1 Macs, Intel this week launched a "PC vs. Mac" website that's biased heavily in favor of PC machines that are equipped with Intel chips and that makes questionable claims about Apple's M1 Mac lineup.
![]()
Intel's website says that Apple's M1 Mac benchmarks don't "translate to real-world usage" and that when compared to PCs with 11th-Generation Intel chips, M1 MacBook features "just don't stack up."

Intel positions PCs as more "personalized" to fit a user's "specific hardware and software needs," while the M1 Macs offer "limited" device support, games, and creation applications. "The bottom line is a PC offers users a choice, something that users don't get with a Mac," reads the website.
PCs offer a "complete touch screen" instead of the "constrained Mac Touch Bar," along with "2 for 1 Form Factor options" while Apple makes customers pay for "multiple devices and gear." The website highlights specific software like AI-based content creation tools from Topaz Labs that are allegedly faster on 11th-generation Intel Core chips, and faster Chrome performance.Intel this week launched a major anti-Apple silicon ad campaign targeting the M1 Macs. A series of ads released on YouTube star former "I'm a Mac" actor Justin Long extolling the benefits of Intel-based PC machines.

There isn't one. Its just fanboyism. People here were overreacting to the Mac vs PC ads 15 years ago like it was the most hilarious thing in the world. I'm not denying their humor, but to somehow act like they weren't biased and these are is a bit silly. Enjoy what you enjoy, and ignore that which you don't, I think people would be way happier if they ignored things like this that don't matter. They're just trying to sell their own products, like any company on earth. What's the issue?
And being tribal is a bad look, unless you're an ape.
Just checked. Found:AMD is a threat in the enthusiasts DIY segment, but everywhere else, intel still rules as intel has the contracts with the heavy OEMs like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, etc for the bulk of their lineup. AMD cannot match the volume that intel has, yet, nor have the capital to provide the marketing support to OEMs.
I was thinking about that....I would be concerned as a laptop mfg. and Microsoft if there is a switch my supply chain "partner" will pull a tantrum.Wonder if they will start crapping on Microsoft as their ARM offerings increase.
AMD presence on websites do not translate particularly well in retail, especially in some markets. In my country, stores only offer the lowest crappiest models with AMD chip, the rest are intel. This despite the OEM's website themselves are showing a complete lineup. They are just not in stock with the distributors. Meanwhile, intel frequently does marketing campaigns, even setting up booths in malls just to increase their brand awareness. I do want AMD to be more prominent to provide fierce competition.Just checked. Found:
*The AMD Store at Dell: "Whether you’re gaming, streaming or editing, do it all with the world’s most advanced processors"
*HP Computers Powered by AMD Processors: "AMD Inspires Innovation Everywhere. The world's top companies count on AMD"
*Acer AMD Products: "Award winning AMD Ryzen™ processors and AMD Radeon™ graphics cards are a total solution for gaming, work and entertainment."
*ASUS AMD Motherboards: Those have been around for a while
The ARM front isn't good for Intel either:
*These are the first Windows 10 ARM laptops; HP and Asus’ ARM computers look familiar (Dec 2019)
*Acer Chromebooks with ARM CPUs since at least Sep 3, 2020
The OEMs are clearly trying to wean themselves off of Intel and going for a mixture of AMD and ARM.
Looking at every tech sites are making articles about this, not just Apple-oriented sites, it's more like anything with keyword: APPLE in it demands content for better clicks.I think Apple-oriented sites like this give Intel more free advertising than any other medium. It's curious.
Yes... and the majority of people won't be using it for things outside of gaming. So why does Apple deliberately ignore such a gigantic market?Luckily there are other uses for GPUs aside from gaming.
This actually makes perfect sense.Because bashing Apple gets them more views.
Oof!If Intel is suggesting that an Intel processor is THE reason why a PC is better than a Mac, why couldn't Intel make Macs do what they say PCs are better at doing?
Threat? Intel's flatulence makes more money than AMD. Don't get me wrong, I want AMD to punish Intel and have larger share, but AMD is no threat to Intel. Why are they targeting Apple? Their real threat is AMD and they've been completely embarrassing them as well.
You can promote your own products without attempting (poorly) to diminish competitor offerings, they should focus on their single core speeds, machine learning, gaming performance and on-board graphics - things they do well.LOL, if the website WEREN"T 'heavily biased', Intel should fire their entire marketing department. Could you imagine? "You should buy an Intel PC *soto voice* even though M1 Macs are faster."

Working in film production, I would rather have a machine with 4 USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports than two of them and two USB-A and an SD card slot. It gives me way more throughput and way more flexibility. For $48 one can get from Monoprice a USB-C dock that supports 3 USB-A 3.1 Gen 2 ports, an HDMI, a gigabit Ethernet and a USB-C port. For a bit more I can get a Thunderbolt dock that gives me 10Gb/s Ethernet, a CFast port, eSata, and more USB-A ports.Yeah, and the dongles thing, and the touch thing. But only the dongles annoy me. Idc about games or drawing, and I'm not alone.

ARM Windows laptops won't be a big player until Microsoft perfected their x86 emulation. Microsoft is definitely putting efforts into it as they have their own chip design in tow, but it won't be easy or quick with so much legacy baggage that Windows carried. MS tried multiple times with Win RT and 10S, and so much backlashes from consumers wanting the typical Windows legacy support. That's just the truth, and that will hobble Microsoft forever.
Chromebooks have better chance as customers didn't have the legacy support expectation for it. But in my country, Chromebooks practically are non-existent in retail. Probably because internet connectivity is not universal yet, so consumers still prefer traditional Windows systems.
