There is i7-3612QM too which is a 2.1GHz 35W quad core.
There's the game changer in the range right there!

Good point. USB 3.0 got off to a bad start with early chips+drivers, but, this should be a mature 3.0 implementation. Presumably what Apple has been waiting for. If they do go 3.0, I hope they don't drop FW immediately-- for those of us with FW devices, it would be annoying if there is no transition.
I think he misses the sticker : Intel inside.
How about putting it in the center of the screen, on all sides of outside packaging and feature it in the center of Apples website?
And, make an agreement with UPS and FEDEX that the drivers delivering your package have to say:
Intel Inside!
That ought to do it!
Nice, now I just need HDD prices to drop so I can start my HTPC build.
Hopefully the notebook versions comes out soon too. I really need a laptop
I guess Apple could be a jackass, pull FW and say "Buy one of our $69 adaptors if you want FW!" Looks like Sonnet might have an adaptor:

That's good. From the large pool of CPUs that we have tested/binned, Ivy Bridge uses 25% less power on average clock for clock
Enjoy your new HotBooksIvy Bridge's on-die temperatures (TJ Max of 105 degrees celsius) are a lot higher than Sandy Bridge
Corrected. The launch of Ivy Bridge processors opens the door for a massive set of upgrades encompassing nearly all of Apple's Mac product line with the exception of the Mac Pro, which [will never be updated again.]
What does CUDA give you that OpenCL does not?
"Again"? When was the last time that Apple called a product "revolutionary" based on the processor?
Now here is what is going to be interesting, how hot will it get? To be honest i would be overjoyed if apple introduced their MPBS's with SSD's already installed![]()
this is going to be my first mac.. i heard they are super fast so thats why i want one..Why though? This will be my first experience with Mac's OS but I know with my 60 gb SSD windows install takes over half of the space.
I couldn't use a SSD as a main drive, just not enough space and they're really expensive once you start getting up into higher storage. A SSD as a boot drive is perfect, but until the prices lower no way I could use one as the main drive
So according to AnandTech the battery life is worse than Sandy Bridge, and the graphic performance still sucks.

I think the average person knows apple doesn't magically make their computers faster and that intel provides them with processors.
Ouch! A higher maximum junction temperature does not mean that CPU runs hotter.Enjoy your new HotBooks
o well, i'm just gonna wait for price drop..
