Lots of mumbo jumbo, in real life you won't notice the difference. If you roam the wireless wifi world you will see lots of complaints about coverage, dropping signals, necessary restarts, all kinds of instability . What most people do not know is that to benefit from the new technology you have to upgrade all your wifi devices to this new technology, even worse some of the older ones like cameras might not work with newer routers.

I still do not know why the "pro" wifi access points like Sonic and Aruba are like $300 each

Is it just me, or are the sizes/shapes of these routers getting a tad out of hand?

The shapes are suppose to give the idea of speed and futuristic technology for the consumer. It used to work on me. None the less there are routers that look more like a house furniture like Netgear Orbi, ZenWifi, Eeros and others.

“…bringing two times faster data processing speeds of 5.8 Gbps and more stable 6 GHz bandwidth stability…”

Wifi isn’t processing data. Redundant word usage…

This is Apple Insider-level bad writing.

Ah, the next WIFI standard that delivers ultra high bandwith... when the client is in the same room as the access point.

I'd appreciate if there was a 10/25G fibre connector in magsafe style instead... WiFi is nice, but we have reached a point where data transfer requires way too much power. WiFi 6 APs are often using 15W+ and on the Ethernet side, 10G over copper wasn't really a success either, with the industry opting for 2,5G ports instead.
Meanwhile optical connections can handle even 25G with a fraction of the power of 10G Ethernet -and at a fraction of the cost.

For the love of everything wireless, PLEASE APPLE step back into the router game!

Mesh Extreme unit
Mesh Express extenders
HomeKit hub
HomePod built in

Basically that's where Apples network team moved to...
Pretty sure that ship has sailed for Apple...

That... would be kinda awesome. Personally, I'd be happy to see Apple go with a connector similar to the row-of-dots "Smart Connector" they have on iPads for the keyboard, but bumped up in capacity so you can dump data through it at ludicrous speed if need be - advertise the iPhone/iPad as "mostly wireless", using Qi chargers and their "MagSafe" hockey puck charger, and WiFi for most things, but with the new smart connector there for things like connecting to things like a... fiber transceiver I suppose. Maybe also use that for fast charging and DFU / development work.

Ah yes, good old iPhones with ethernet.
What? You didn't get the Lightning to Ethernet adaptor in your box? 🤣

Apple is skipping 6E because it’s nothing special. I’m sure Apple will move to 7 when it’s more widely adopted. 💤
I think the new IPad Pros use 6E and I’m guessing the next version of the Macbook pro will use it also so it seems Apple is going all in on 6E. I think WIFI 7 is something for 2024+

I choose ethernet. Always superior stability & speed.
Me too. Bought a new and added network drops put in for all the tvs, computers and printer. The Eeros in the kitchens and out ]side are wired as well.
All feeds into this cabinet

0 ping for no lag printing. A life saver 😂. What a waste of space, materials, work etc. For most devices wi-fi ac its more than enough. In my case only 4k mkv streaming 60gb+ needs cable, and faster file transfer between pcs. For any other use its pointless. I even keep my ps4 on wi-fi as theres no lag and download its limited by sony servers. I get same speed regardless if im on lan or wi-fi ac

Nice looking cabinet that looks like it has no ventilation.
It doesn’t get that warm. The eero is the is the warmest component on a 3/16”aluminum plate behind it. It’s basically acting as a firewall, wireless is turned off.
The cable modem wireless is turned off and it is barely warm.

Glad to hear your house is wifi friendly.

Yeah zero lag printing is sweet and I’m the envy of the neighborhood.
Glad to hear about your impressive ps4 performance.

I'm only saying that many people it's obsessed by cabled lan. I have a friend that was obsessed too and cabled everything, then got divorced and moved to an apartment where there's too much work for cable it entirely. Now finally realized that can get same performance with wi-fi ac/ax. Basically there are 2 kinds of people:
1) Cable on everything equipped with a lan port and wi-fi only on those without it.
2) Wi-fi everything except those devices that really has benefits from cable.
Eventually 1st kind will move to the 2nd, but never the opposite ;-)

So you didn't see the GUNDAM-themed router from ASUS yet?

But hold on! There is a whole series... 😮😄

And here is the black version AX5400 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router (RT-AX82U) with Gundam Tumbler:

Oh and what about the ASUS ROG wireless AX11000 tri-band Wi-Fi 6 gaming router?

Everytime I see the eight antennae one, I think it will flip over and wander around

LOL this post is so old, I already made a similar comment months ago

If I was to get divorced I’m surely not taken that with me. No matter what the circumstances were I wouldn’t rip that out and if my ex still lived there I would keep maintain it.
In my apartment, before this house, everything was pretty much wireless. Between appliances, pool equipment, home automation, gadgets the network is supporting 96 wireless devices.
I’m all for whatever can be wired to be wired.
I can see your point, believe me.

Not really, at least for Gigabit ethernet. I can get almost 1300 Mbps from 6E on my iPad which is faster than I would get with 1 Gbps ethernet. Haven't had any stability problems since no one in my vicinity uses 6E.

I dont mean he ripped every cable :) they both moved to smaller apartments and sold that house. Anyway im for cable when it regards hi-fi and ht, where cables delivers better quality. But for just sending data, only speed matters, and if u can have same speed on both wifi and lan, i cant see any benefits of having ton of cables around

I know some that went up in the attic and cut cables and did other intentional stuff. I just shook my head in disgust.
I have my aging in laws living with us. If devices can be set up wired that is one less password entry I am going to be asked for. In the last year I have seen so many things happen with passwords and connectivity. Like in the movie "something about Mary", how did you get the beans above the frank crosses my mind way too many times in the last year. lol
The wiring cost $50 a drop if I terminated and did the finishing work myself. To me it was surely worth it.
