1. This Macbook is a piece of crap. They did a BIG mistake by replacing Macbook Air dGPUs with Intel iGPUs, then they made a HUGE mistake by doing the same on Macbook Pros making them basically unusable for any pro graphic, computing, science, gaming, business or design applications.

This has been very annoying and disastrous as Macbooks which used to have up-to-date or at least decent and usable mobile GPUs, have since been so underpowered that no matter the performance gain of each Intel iterations, it's still years behind todays basic mobile GPUs standards and drivers, making it almost useless (some 10 years old games and emulators hardly work on my rMBP).

When did MBA ever has dGPUs?

As for the MBP not running emulators or 10 year old games, what utter nonsense. Just BS. I have an hd4000 GPU and could run newish games at the time like CSGO, Rage, COD, etc.

Aside from price ($200 if you configure to 8GB RAM), half-a-pound weight increase, and slight decrease in battery life, you are better off with 13" rMBP.

And 13" rMBP can be configured with 16GB RAM, so I am not sure why you are so obsessed with MBA.
When I was trying out the new MacBook in store I could see why people choose it for portability. It's ungodly thin. Then I looked at the MacBook Air next to a 13inch pro and thought "the pro isn't that much bigger than the air. Why would anyone choose the air over just getting a pro? Aside from price"

Get real - the rMB has a real world battery life of less than 7 hours (far from a whole day) and is not even powerful enough to run demanding Powerpoint presentations without a hitch (unlike the MBA). Granted, the newer processor might improve things but at the moment the rMB is little more than a glorified netbook with a great screen and shockingly limited connectivity.

They didn't even give the MBA force touch. You're going to be really disappointed if you expect it to get another meaningful update. It's dead.

Get real yourself. You remember the first MBA? It was hot, I mean really hot. And lacking ports.

Maybe you do your presentations wrong. My 2009 MBP 13" 2,53 can handle them VERY well.

But again, I will buy the Laptop I need to get my work done. Maybe everyone should do the same and stop expecting Apple to deliver workstation grade processing power with the rMB. Its the silent successor of the MBA wether you like it or not.
Was waiting for you to drop the mic at the end of that post. Damn

Upgrade it to a better processor, fix the damn bezel, give it retina w/16 ram- done deal. Keep the ports, and add a usb c.

So what you're asking for is a MacBook Air that's exactly like a MacBook but with more power

You'll get that in a couple years with the latest MacBook

this should give a nice boost the an underpowered machine. too bad it doesnt add ports haha.
They might add a port, who knows. Here is hoping. And if there is no space for another USB-c port I wish they'd get rid of the audio jack and put a second USB-c port there instead. There is space for that. This would mean using a USB to audio adapter but I would settle for that. I have played with an rMB a few times at the local Apple Store and I find the form factor and the screen droolworthy. But weak battery life (which will still be too weak even with skylake) and just one port are deal killers for me.

Hopefully Skylake can be the "Haswell" for this new retina Macbook, providing even better performance and battery life. Can't wait. Been eyeing the retina Macbook as my grab-n-go laptop to replace my older 11" Macbook Air. Plus, I miss a black Macbook (my first Macbook was the black plastic Macbook). I can live with dongles for my usage as even the 11" MBA does not have SD card slot. However, the first gen retina Macbook did not awe me so much as the battery life feels a bit "lacking", considering the focus of totally wireless operation.

In your original post, you'd said, "why doesn't apple use quad core processors?" You didn't specify that were talking about quad core m processors. Apple does use quad core in it's 15"rMBP line
Please point me towards these mythical quad core Core M processors.
So no, there aren't quad core m processors, but this is as close as it gets

Wasn't skylake supposed to be a big jump from the 2015 MacBook Pro's?
I don't think I'm gonna believe anybody when they say "the next update will be a big jump!" I just can't...we hear it every year and then the actual product comes and it's just a nice little update. But rarely anything worth waiting for. The best updates are the MacBook redesigns. Like when they turned retina. That was a big deal

Anybody know if these can do USB-C (with Thunderbolt)?

Not that I see much of a future for Thunderbolt unless the small portable external drives pick it up. I guess I have dreams of a MacBook driving a 5k display one day.

I'm extremely happy with my MacBook, even doing photo editing (no slower than my 2011 iMac quad i5 with 16GB of RAM). MacBook IS the future. Don't know if Core M is the future, but it's doing amazingly well at the moment.

Thunderbolt and USB C are going to coexist in the same port

I need an English translation of all this. I'm just beginning in computer science. So does that detail the processor gains of the new one vs old?
No it doesn't. The article already is in English.
I'm out to learn about everything. Not just what's limited to a cs degree. What's the fun in limiting yourself?
For a start, try to improve your reading comprehension. Even if you don't understand a text, you should be able to identify its language.

Just give us a Retina Macbook Air already!!:mad:

The Macbook Air does look disgustingly dated compared to Apple's other Macbook's now - the screen is truly horrendous, as is the bezel. I can see them dropping in favour of the Retina Macbook to be honest, which is the true air - there's no way on earth id want to own an 11" MBA over the 12" Retina Macbook.

The new MacBook is tempting but it's too extreme for me at the moment. If they remove the Air I hope they wait until one or two revisions of the new MacBook. Alternatively, make the MacBook Pro in the Air form factor if it's possible.

I think you may to get used to the keyboard, but I still wish they would have given it 1 mm more key throw or so. The Air also gives you better performance and more ports. It's just the screen that makes it look dated really. The fact that they haven't updated the screen is likely all strategic, which is a bit sad, the Air deserves a better screen.

The kiss of death to the apple macbooks was Apple's stupid decision to make RAM soldered and the battery non-removable. Also, only 1 drive in a laptop really sucks, theres enough room to slap in another PCIe based SSD drivel; one drive for boot, the other for storage and effectively doubling available space.

Until Apple fixes these two WRONGS, I and nobody else should be buying these disposable laptops.

Actually, since Apple started integrating those components, their laptop sales have taken off. And for good reason. Every one of those parts you want removable adds weight and bulk that means you end up with an overall larger, heavier laptop generally with a lot worse battery life. Compare the amount of battery that say, Lenovo gets into their flagship T450s compared to what Apple manages to fit in the 13" MBP to see what I mean. And that means the MBP gets ~10 hours of battery life from a 28w CPU compared with Lenovo's ~7 hours from a 15w part.

Who wants to manage two drives when one of sufficient size will suffice??

But weak battery life (which will still be too weak even with skylake) and just one port are deal killers for me.

9-10 hours real world is now 'weak?'

It's capable, but it's optional, not a part of the spec. An extra Thunderbolt card would be required for the Macbook so I can guarantee you it will not have it in rev2.

It's still part of the spec, although optional. You don't not need an extra card, at the most a controller, i.e a small surface mount chip. The fact that the MacBook only have 1 port, makes the need for Thunderbolt more pressing since you can add any port with a breakout box on your desktop.
