NOPE!

Give me one laptop with 7th generation HQ or U CPU on the market.

Your post is complete Bs, there are 7th gen desktop CPUs on the market.

Just to mention some computer with Macbook Pro relevant U CPUs (because earlier mentioned 7200U and 7500U is not for MBPros):

eBay is full with Dell XPS 13s with i7-7560U and i7-7660U CPUs. Microsoft also sells its new Surface Pro with i7-7660U and there are latest Intel NUC kits with i5-7260U or i7-7567U.

HQ CPUs are easy to find, all the gaming laptops come with them.

I'm looking at Apple's website right now.

All 13" models are dual core/4 thread. even the i7's and are all using 6xxx "U" series

13" non-touch: i5-6267u (2.9ghz)
13" Touch-Bar: i5-6287u (3.1Ghz)
13" Touch-Bar: i7-6567u (3.3Ghz)

edit: though you're right about the wattage. they're using 28w parts at 23w. But they are still using U series CPU's which i was refering to

More like 32W... They are more powerful, then laptops with same CPU. Check notebookcheck's review.

Completely wrong.

Stop spreading nonsense on these forums, I say this , cause people might actually believe what you write when it's so wrong. HQ and U 7th gen chips are out and used by companies such as Razer....many...

I agree. Number one priority is $$$$$ and shipping asap, which explains this zero % effort . Price went up right....

Thank you . Some people really spread FUD on these forums.

Oh they do, and it's usually the same suspects in the "nothing but Apple" group.

They'll be outdated the day they're released;

Gimped GPU, soldered components, limited ports, insulting price tag, etc.
Nonsense. I'm a pro software dev and when I'm using my portable I want light and power efficient. I don't give a rat's ass about soldered components since I've correctly maxed the RAM out on Day 1, and by the time I max the HD on my portable it's time for a new one (tho in my experience the machine gets outdated before the storage fills up). And legacy ports? Puhleez. Next you'll be whining about network jacks, right?

Apple does the same

The 13" Macbook Pro's (both touch and non touch) use Intel's 15w dualcore(4 thread) CPU, which are the identical CPU's that Dell and Microsoft are using

it's only in the 15" MacBook pro that you move up to a 65w quad core part.

Unfortunately, your information is not entirely correct.

The non-Touch Bar 13" MacBook Pro uses the 15w U-series (2c/4t) for both the base 2.0GHz (core i5-6360U) and the BTO 2.4GHz (Core i7-6650U) models.

The Touch Bar 13" Macbook Pro use the 28w U-series (2c/4t) for all three CPU levels; 2.9GHz (i5-6267U), BTO 3.1GHz (i5-6287U) and BTO 3.3Ghz (i7-6567U)

The Touch Bar 15" MacBook Pros use 45w H-Series (4c/8t) for all three CPU levels; 2.6 (i7-6700HQ), 2.7GHz (i7-6820HQ) and BTO 2.9Ghz (i7-6920HQ).

There are no 65w mobile CPUs from Intel...ouch, that would be HOT!

In all fairness there's nowhere else it could go without a redesign of the mouse. Although the change could just be a flat top where the port would go. I would like a redesign to use the Taptic Engine, make it more ergonomic, and fix the port placement in the future.

It would have taken a slight redesign to place the port at the front of the mouse. Is this not lazy?

I know that you're being sarcastic, but this is exactly how laptops should be. No ports, no cables of any kind. Wireless connection, wireless transfer and wireless charging for everything. Sadly I doubt that we'll see it in widespread use by 2019. Hopefully not long thereafter though.

It's absurd that we're still plugging bits of metal into other bits of metal, when the technology exists to make this problem go away. The industry won't change though until someone has the courage to push the market towards this. Our grandchildren are going to laugh at the idea that phones and laptops used to have holes in them for plugging stuff in, in the same way that they already find it bizarre that SLR camera's used to have actual physical film in them.

I agree with your logic but learned that the potential of newer tech is increasingly exaggerated. For every benefit new approaches create, they seem to sacrifice capabilities we enjoyed earlier. Audio hardware and media is a good example. iPods and MP3s made music more portable but degraded audio quality as well. Phone cameras are convenient but aren't a substitute for a dedicated camera if you want to explore photography's full potential. Wireless connectivity eliminates ugly cords but compromises the speed at which large data is moved.

Some older tech is still superior to newer alternatives. I was excited about—but misled by—the touted potential of wireless networking. It isn't as robust as I hoped. I ultimately installed an ethernet network in our home to accommodate five AppleTV's, a whole house audio system, bridged wireless routers, a Mac, etcetera. The wireless network I relied on was overworked and frequently hiccuped. Now I reserve its use strictly for mobile devices.

in 3 years from now, when the processor becomes dirty cheap, Tim will put it into the MacBook.

Don't get too excited though, the MacBook price will be the same or higher (Tim doesn't pass the savings to Apple customers)

Agreed. Normally in don't care, though not when it's blatant BS. There is a lot of tech outside of Apple that is up to date, though that has always been the case.

Does not mean that tech does not exist :) if you only use apple lol....

alas you don't speak for all us developers.

Though entertain me, what is a "pro" software developer ? That title does not exist in our industry, what language do you develop in? Don't say Drupal.....

i feel confused by Apple's current notebook lineup.

so much of this has been said before.

the MacbookAir is thicker than the Macbook.
the Air has more ports than the Macbook Pro.
The macbook pro is losing is expand ability and getting thinner.

in my mind, Apple is the king of wanting you to buy multiple devices.

they should have a 12", 15" Macbook. ultra thin, few ports and very Consumer/mobile focused. closed system, non removable parts. touchbar, fun elements.

13" 15" Macbook Pro. maybe a good bit thicker, more ports, upgradable.

put the business class/professional user in mind.

for me at least, i keep looking at the MBP, i want the 15" screen, but i dont need all the power etc...
I would be so happy with a 15" more powerful macbook. i dont need 5k monitors, or anything crazy.
give me access to 15", 512HDD, 16gb ram, and a more powerful processor than the current macbook. its a litle underpowered for my needs.

give the pros what they need!

So if Apple refreshes the MacBook's next week, they'll be outdated again within a couple months?

yes it's called Planned Obsolescence and Apple's Tim Cook and Phil Schiller are the master of it

they kill iPhone/iPads and Macs through software so you are forced to replace a perfectly working product
and must buy a full price brand new product you don't need

they also prevent the sale of Apple products spare parts as well as destroy documentation
so you are unable to repair it

then they do press rounds and tell them how much they support "Earth Day" and other SJW causes

_____

example:
let's say the audio chip stops working on your iPhone,
instead of letting you being able to buy it for $5 and fix it, they force you to go and fork $800 for a new iPhone

Lol you're funny.

In the last 5 years they've delayed chips at least 3 times, and changed to an entirely different tick/tock/tock release strategy.

Clear as ****ing mud.

I try.....humour helps me cope...

So let's roll.....

apple's roadmap? Mac mini.....Mac Pro....iMac..... intel's fault???

The Mac Pro and Mac mini are a joke.... joke of apple's making and not intel, intel did not force apple to completely gimp the Mac Pro and Mac mini ....

Not if you're sticking with the cantilever design. Then a complete redesign would be required internally, which of course is possible and well within Apple's means...but why?

I honestly can't comprehend the level of hatred people have for the horror of having to plug the ****ing mouse in for 2 hours at some point when not in use once a month.

To this day I cannot understand how that made it to production. It's like something the Onion would do a parody on...

Two words:

Cheap: Because putting the Lightning connector on the front would have required an almost completely redesigned mouse, which in turn would have required new molds for the top "button" and new machining for the chassis.

Greedy: Shoving a permanent rechargeable battery into the chassis should not have increased the end consumers cost for a mouse by 44%, but it did...and I have no words.

I thought we were discussing Intel's roadmap, and that's all I was specifically commenting on.

Apple's hardware roadmap, I firmly believe, will be looked back in 3-4 years as a temporary pause on what is turning into a full head of steam going forward.

Your also funny ;)

Intel's roadmap has never stopped apple from putting the latest CPUs into thier hardware.... apple chooses CPUs to maximise profits .

intel roadmap comment, was not to analyse it, but to show that they have. Public one, not how they deliver to it. You know, apple could plan against it....
