International (EU, non-US) iPad 2 Shipping Dates, 1st "Prepared for Shipment" Status!

as requested some pictures.

so test conditions:

1. dark cupboard. i couldn't get complete black out as it's daytime but figured you guys would prefer to see now. the 1st ipad from john lewis was taken at night in slightly different conditions as i didn't intend to post it. so take that into account with comparisons.

2. black start frame of a movie as the display

3. one shot at 50% with auto, then one shot 100% no auto

4. pictures were all taken with an iphone 4 with HDR. from my eye, taking a picture of this seems to amplify the fault (tried with a regular camera as well) so the 'footlight' effect is nowhere near as pronounced to the naked eye, if that makes sense

Ipad 2 arrived in Zurich

Jupee, Zurich calling. It arrived! :) Ordered it on March, 25 (4 am)

Unfortunately it was delivered to my office and I am not there today...

Mine's just arrived, syncing as I type. Two days ahead of schedule (a whole two weeks in front of Apple's estimated delivery!)

4 days from China including a weekend - well impressed by that.

As far as I can tell mines a keeper. No dead pixels and, under the conditions I'll be using it, no bleed - I'll have a look tonight and see. I refuse to go into a dark cellar, turn the brightness up to 100%, then go all disappointed because it's not perfect. At the moment, it appears to be "fit for purpose" and I'm happy!

Good luck to the rest of you - especially those who waited until the store opened to order early and haven't got yours yet. it should be soon.

Hi Guys,

Has anyone in the UK seen any movement on their Black 64GB 3G?

I ordered on the 25th at 7.10am and it's still at "Not Yet Shipped".

Getting slightly impatient.

Hmmm, I see that your iPad 1 is just perfect: there is almost no backlight bleeding. The first iPad 2 is terrible and the second one is not that bad.

On the one hand, I think you will hardly notice any bleed while playing with your device under normal conditions. On the other hand, it is quite sad that Apple hasn't fixed the issue. Probably, all iPad 2s have and will have backlight bleed to a certain extent...

and i think i agree with you. this design just seems to be more prone to the problem. i'm going to live with it for a couple days to see if it settles and how much i see the bleed in normal use - ie not the "insane i want my eyes to bleed and i never leave the basement" test conditions ;)

it really is snappier than version 1.

My iPad 64 wifi arrived as of today! :)

A tiny bit of backlight bleeding but I can get by with that. Love him already :D
 
Congrats to all of you that already have it. I can't even track the shipment because of the weird company Apple used to send the iPad, it is supposed to arrive tomorrow but I hope it arrives today

Got my Black 64GB wifi today! :D Has a little back light bleed, but can't seem to tell in normal conditions, so am happy enough.

Not 100% on the thinner thing, (or I'm used to using a case, maybe?), seems a little too slippery, too easy to drop for my tastes.:eek:

Anyway, as others have stated my time in this thread is over, thanks for putting up with my impatience, and good luck to you lot still waiting. ;)

.....Now when are those iMacs getting refreshed? :rolleyes::D

Had a quick look and both of mine have back light bleeding. please bear in mind i only had half hour including travel time, so i need a better look at them. anyone know what apple think on the subject? one is the smallest bit of bleeding the other is nearly half the screen, I think for the price they should be faultless...

Ignore that, playing on it yesterday / this morning, watching films and surfing the net, playing world of goo etc and the back light bleed is not an issue, its a proper cool device

cameras thing still stands

Btw, do you wanna know something funny (not)? My order amount 878 euros is still reserved in my bank account and yesterday Apple decided to charge me with APP again! Yes, now I have two money reservations for Apple: 878 € (iPad 2 and iPad APP) and 79 € (iPad APP). You can guess my reaction when I called to my bank and they told me that Apple has made the reservation for 79 euros. Then I called Apple Store and the lovely woman on the phone agreed with me and said that Apple shouldn't charge me twice for APP when it's already included with my 878 euros purchase :rolleyes: So, she told me that she will be in contact with their Financial Department and have this miss understatement sorted out. She will send me an email to let me know when it's done :).

Apple loves money indeed... :rolleyes:

Yep, same here.
Do you think there is a chance to get it before weekend?

I think normally it takes 2 days from Hong Kong to Europe and 1-2 days to bring it to our home. On Monday (our time) it was in Hong Kong, Wednesday in Europe and maybe really till Friday we have our iPad :)

We really are in the same boat lol ;) I think that friday or monday is the day our iPad 2's arrive. Friday would be great, you never know what happens. But since today is wednesday and nothing has happened in two days, I put my money on monday delivery :)
