International (EU, non-US) iPad 2 Shipping Dates, 1st "Prepared for Shipment" Status!

For "normal" (ie ipods/ipads 1) orders its usually a lot faster (1-3 days), dont know if anything is different now

Thanks! I think I'm gonna change the title of this thread in order to get some more feedback from non-US customers ... It'd be interesting to see when the first Australian and Canadian units go to "Prepared ..."

Well, obviously there aren't that many European customers visiting this forum, right?
As already mentioned, I tried to get an iPad right at the Apple Store in Zurich (of course I failed), but it wouldn't make much sense anyway since most of the cases aren't available at the moment. Also, I'm waiting for some meaningful reviews of those (especially for the one from PixelSkin) ...
So, still three weeks to go

I'm so tempted to go with Tesco, Comet, whoever but the thing that keeps stopping me is Apple Online's exemplary customer service. If there's anything wrong with it like a dead pixel, backlight bleeding etc, I can send it back to Apple with no quibbles and no restocking fee.
Comet, for example, with whom I nearly placed an order this morning, charge a restocking fee. I can't be bothered to get into a protracted discussion about whether dead pixels constitute damage and whether I'd be charged a fee etc.
With Apple, it's so much more pleasant. So, at the moment, despite the agonising wait - I'm sticking with my Apple order.

Delivery time will probably be shorter, because I changed shipping method from Merge in Transit CZE to Fast Ship (EMEA) by cancelling everything but the iPads themselves from the order.

I was thinknig about cancelling my smart cover but was scared that the entire order would be cancelled. So you can definitely cancel indivdual items from an order?
Well, it's on the Order Status page's interface, and I could. What is your current Shipping Method?
Cancelling some stuff from the order also did not change the displayed shipping or delivery dates.
And you can also purchase Smart Covers with free shipping separately, if you wish.
My shipping status is currently 'Merge in Transit GB'. So if I cancel the Smart Cover the shipping status will change but the dates won't?
Well, that's what happened with my order when I cancelled Smartcovers and an HDMI adapter from it last sunday. I would expect that this would happen with your order as well, but obviously I cannot guarantee any behaviour of the Apple Online Store (Oops!). Be careful!

Just got a call from Apple - they told me that there is a problem with my iPad 2 order. I was quite shocked, to be honest!
As it turned out, they were referring to one order I placed that got "stuck" in their system and never came through correctly. When I told them that I have a confirmation mail with another order ID, they checked and deleted the incomplete one.
At least they care
BTW: They still don't have any information when the online orders start to roll out ...

Those who ordered 11-12/3 in the U.S got their iPad shipped like 25-26/3. So i expect that for us who ordered on 25 mars the iPads will ship around like 8 April and not 15th. Alot of people are also cancelling their order due to stores who get iPads in stock and thereby we will be pushed forward in the line
Interesting - my smart cover and iPad 2, previously due to be merged and delivered together are now listed separately, too.

That would really annoy me if you got yours before I did. US order March 16, 9 days before you, Ships April 20. Hopefully they really do fulfill in the order they were received. That would mean mine should ship next week.
Apple needs to play catch up.

They don't ship all of their units exclusively to the US in order to satisfy the demand there, first. Or do you expect all non-US shipments to become re-directed to you??
If I was you, I'd be really pi**ed if other US customers which ordered after me would receive their iPad before I got mine
Yeah right. If that were the case, how come Apple UK stores are (apparently) getting new stock in every day ("reserved" store), people are ordering after 9pm and picking them up the very next day, yet my 25/03 on-line order at 12:34am is still not going to ship until 15/04?
Shouldn't one of these newly available iPads be coming to me (or at least one of us) who ordered within the 1st 10mins of iPad2 release?
Not too happy with Apple on this one. Quite prepared to wait if there is no stock etc, but see this as being penalised for trying to buy on-line through Apple...and not just by a few days. This is weeks :-( Unfortunately I live 90 miles from an Apple store and all the local Comet type stores seem to be at the end of a very long supply chain as well. Hell, there's a Libyan insurgent further up the supply chain than me ;-)

Interesting. Just received email that the smart cover had now shipped (March 31) separately...no change for shipping estimate of iPad and dock.
