My girlfriend and I love watching the moonrise, and luckily we live near a moon facing body of water. For years we'd just catch the moonrises randomly and be in awe of a huge full moon rising over the water. I wanted to plan better and improve my moon photos so I created an app that watches weather and astronomy data and automatically notifies you if the conditions are right to watch a perfect moonrise.

There were other moon phase calendar apps and even Apple Weather has a built-in moon tracker but none of them did notifications the way I wanted with weather data combined with astronomy data. I also added a moon direction map and compass feature to help orient myself in the right direction. So far I've used it to catch a few good moonrises like this one:
I hate subscriptions but I added a low cost monthly option if anyone wants to help me out with the API costs over time - but you can also buy it outright (this is something that I am serious about - never requiring forever subscriptions for an app).

You can check the app out here.

Nice, I'll give it a try.
Thank you I'd love to hear how it works for you.

One interesting thing I did recently was I made it completely free until a "good" moonrise passes. So you can try everything out. I define "good" as good enough to trigger a notification based on a combination of weather and astronomy conditions. If you miss all the good moonrise this month you can keep using it for free until the next one. Once you use the app during a good moonrise, you have 7 more days before the paywall hits. I thought it was a good way to let everybody try it out.
