IO would love a dark mode for the iPhone. I would love to get the old iOS 6 icons back as well. I still hate the way my screen looks with these pastel gross color schemes.

I totally forgotten that I use dark mode on my Mac Pro.

On my Mac, I've been black for years. Used to use special them theming programs for this but today, I run dark-mode on El Capitan along with a black solid desktop background. I'd like green text on black background but haven't tried hard enough to achieve that yet. I find black much more pleasing than white.

PIP needs to come to the iPhone. Having to sit through a pre roll ad of a live event everytime I exit and come back is getting old.

It does not turn off gps... And you can't tap one as that is not an option in control center. If you want to turn off just the cellular radio on an iPad, you can easily do that with airplane mode and turning back on wifi and Bluetooth.
Airplane Mode definitely turns off GPS. It's been that way since GPS chips have been in iPhones and iPads. It doesn't make sense because a GPS radio is receive-only and perfectly functional without cellular assistance.

What I want is a Cellular Data button in Control Center. It was handy when I had jailbroken my cellular iPad and used the free T-Mobile 200MB data plan. Quick and easy to turn on the data exactly when I needed it and turn it off to save each little bit of data. It would also be handy when flying since I want the Bluetooth on for my Apple Watch and wireless headphones and the Wi-Fi on for streaming video web browsing.

Airplane Mode was made for a time before in-flight Wi-Fi and Apple Watches existed. The functionality could be changed to just turn off cellular data and be just as effective for most people while being easier for some people.

apple copies form google, google copies form apple.

eventually, both android and ios will be very very similar.

Both features have been in Android for a long time... They should have already been included in iOS.

I don't understand why everyone is obsessed with a dark mode. If it saved power because the iPhone was oled, I could understand that. But it just seems arbitrarily different to me.

But what's the purpose of Night Shift if you already have a dark UI?

It helps people read better. Studies show that white text on black backgrounds are more easy on the eyes than black text on white backgrounds.
It also looks good......

iOS has had what effectively amounts to a "dark" mode for years as well. Just go to Accessibility, and choose Invert Colors. It screws up the look of icons and some other elements look wonky, but it gives you the black background and light text.

I'm curious how, if at all, this effects battery life. I just switched over and will see how things play out for a couple of days.

As long as the text is a certain size and thickness otherwise it just appears to fill in, myriad pro regular would look awful.
Adobe illustrator now has a dark mode, I think it looks so depressing, they have lost the edges of all the pallets, so its just a sea of black. I'll never change from the historic light grey/ beige. So much easier on the eyes when u start to get a bit older.

God damn, finally! This has been a long, long time coming. I find iOS too garish a lot of the time and a dark theme would definitely be welcome. There's already a dark keyboard but Apple doesn't allow it to be set as default!!

Based on the new design of the WWDC App I suspect some kind of dark mode will be coming to iOS 10 and will be demoed at WWDC next week. We will see if it is touted as an option you can turn switch to at any point, or a night mode that can be set to switch on at sunset. I also think this is being rolled out this year so users get used to a darker UI before the switch to OLED next year at which point the default (and possibly only) UI will probably use lots of black to save on battery.

Looks good, but you have to give me a bit more than that to make me compelled to get iOS10. This isn't a feature its a tweak that should have been there ages ago...

Looks good on a black phone though!

Unfortunately it's free update.

No betas??? Hasn't even been announced yet lol!!!

Why do haters come hate on a Mac site. You ALL have the option to switch if YOU don't like what Apple has to offer. You all act like you're being FORCED to be here. The internet sometimes.....
Huh? There's no hating just facts, it's a concept feature but one that Apple will most likely never implement. Look what they did in the betas tested a dark themed keyboard many many betas ago and it vanished never to return.

Also dark mode would also complete against or confuse customers with night mode and Apple will never implement a feature to up or compete against night mode. The public still hasn't even grasped night mode lol.

Would I like Apple to implement new stuff quicker yes but it's not going to happen.
