Not seeing this on 11.2 and was wondering if the recipient needs to at least have this Apple Cash thing set up on their phone ? Nevermind....

10 minutes ago, I was poking around and the only money-related thing was (1) credit card set up in the Wallet. Now an "Apple Pay Cash" entry has been added (and says "Not set up" at the moment).

Set it up, "tried" to send money to our daughter and it says she can't receive payments yet. She only runs the 'public' software, not betas, so that's the first reason. I presume she needs to go through the set-up with Apple Pay Cash first once she had the suitable software.

What's this now about having to load $10 on the Cash Card? But...why? o_O That is a unnecessary hurdle seemingly without reason, that the competition doesn't have.

Hopefully that's just a Beta requirement and will be lifted for the public release...

They really need to open up iMessage to other providers. A closed, walled garden, payment system is of limited usefulness. 1/3 of the people I know are using some form of the Galaxy and no an iPhone.

I'm confused on how this works for the recipient of the funds. Are they able to use those funds with merchants via ApplePay only? Or can the recipient transfer the incoming funds to their linked bank account and then have the funds available via their debit card?

What ever happened to iCloud iMessage???

This one feature is something that will make me incredibly happy. I love my iPhoneX, and my MBP TB, and my Apple Watch, and my iPad... but I HATE that I have to delete my messages from each device. iCloud Messaging needs to come like yesterday.

Agree. If you are in the US you could use Zelle; in the EU there is N26. Not sure about Zelle but N26 offers iMessage integration since quite a while but doesn't go to some artificial iMessage account but directly to your card (also instantly) and best of all: no platform limitations (ok, well not Windows phone but thats hardly alive anymore anyway...)

Can you explain this? I'm not following.

@ iCloud iMessage

Apple is supposedly rolling out iMessage syncing feature - similar to what they do with Notes now. (You see them across all devices signed into your iCloud account, and they are on the cloud)
As it stands now, if you get a new phone and sign in to it, you start off with zero messages. All historical messages are MIA unless you restore from a backup.

Although I really don't know how well this will work with their stingy/measly 5GB iCloud storage space. STINGY.

OK, it sounded bad enough that the money would end up on a special Apple virtual card and not in your bank account until you manually transfer it, but now you’re saying you have to top up said virtual card before you can use it? I’ll just use my bank’s app I think. This is very un-Apple.

Bummer, my experience has been exactly the opposite. Most places I shop take ApplePay, and have had 0 issues on iOS 11 or WatchOS 4.1. Sorry you've had a bad experience.

Yeah it hasn’t been smooth sailing to say the least! The supermarket I shop in which is a huge chain, Tesco, it worked flawlessly on iOS 10, intermittently on iOS 11, and now after the last update not at all, I haven’t tried anywhere else but if it worked before..
I just take out my debit card that is probably worth 50p or cent in parts and it works perfectly fine on contactless payment on the same machines. Humpphh

You will be able to use it using Apple Pay wherever it is accepted. Also the recipient can take the money from Apple Pay card and transfer it to their linked back account. At least this is what I can tell after I installed on my phone.

I’ve never had an issue with Apple Pay. Works great on watch and iPhone.

I have not seen anything so far about there being any fees involved with cash to cash transmissions. I’m surprised there is not a 2-3% juice especially if you transfer the money to your bank account. I can’t imagine Apple not making any money from this. I can’t imagine there are not costs involved.

I wouldn’t touch these new pay systems with a 10 mile barge pole with iOS 11 in it’s current bug filled mess! I haven’t had Apple Pay work since the last update...

I tried to watch a You Tube video on Touch Arcades website the other day and it crashed Safari completely...

It’s an utter fudging mess, I have never had as many crashes and bugs in several years of iOS use as I have had with iOS 11!!

I've had some bumps on the iOS 11 road but nothing out of the norm. 11.1 resolved many of the bugs I did notice, but none of them were show stoppers. I've also used Apple Pay several times with no issue. What device are you using and how old is the OS install? It could be time for a fresh load of iOS.

Curious to find out what the differences are.

iPhone 6S 128GB with plenty of free storage and about a year old. Apart from the updates to iOS 10, which it shipped with, iOS 11 is its first major OS update, and an utter mess too.

I got an X, 8+, 7+, and 6+ all next to me. The only one that suffers with iOS 11 is the 6+. ****ing slow on 10, it crawls on 11. I've seen the landscape issue affect the 8+ but that is it. Otherwise iOS 11 is good update and a great update for the ipad.
