What are you talking about? You’re charged 3% if you use a credit card because that’s what the credit card company charges Apple..
Credit cards "code" for what you're buying. So, you pay a higher interest rate, or pay higher fees to your credit card company, if you take a cash advance vs. if you buy a widget from a retail store.

If Apple Pay Cash codes as a cash advance, Apple charges 3%, BUT, your BANK can charge you quite a bit more because it thinks you're doing it as a cash advance vs. just buying something.

More restaurants take Venmo than Apple Pay where I live, lol. And I'm not a fan of platform-specific payment methods.

I really want to be into this - anything to make splitting bills easier but the low adoption of Apple pay here is Oz prohibits this. It might also be superseded (or complemented) by the new unified payments system coming to Australia.

The only advantage I can think of is that you can use the money with Apple Pay terminals without having to wait for it to transfer to another card or your bank. Also you can use Siri to pay someone. Not sure if Venmo lets you do that

Maybe it differs in the US and Australia (I'll find out about the later as I'm off for 3 weeks soon), but I found nothing properietary about Apple Pay. All around Europe and Russia where ever I see contactless payment it just works, even if the banks haven't enabled their own cards for Apple Pay. Moscow underground, just tap in/out with your watch. Warsaw restaurants, just tap it with your watch/phone. Amsterdam bars just use Apple Pay.

It is not a platform specific payment method...

I think the lack of contactless cards in the US makes people think that merchants have to do something special to support Apple Pay. I've seen multiple posts elsewhere about how Samsung Pay is more "standard" because of its MST support, for instance.

I had to delete a card from Wallet since I was already at the maximum limit. A few minutes later I got prompted to re-enter my iCloud password, followed by the Apple Pay Cash card appearing in Wallet with a prompt to set it up. Hopefully that helps someone.
What is the limit?

What is the limit?

From https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/apple-pay-cash-iphone-ipad/:

Apple Pay Cash Limits
There are limits on the amount of money that you can send per day and per transaction, and the amount of money you can add to your Apple Pay Cash card.
When adding cash, you must add a minimum of $10 per transaction, but you're not able to add more than $3,000. Over a 7-day period, you can add a maximum of $10,000 to your Apple Pay Cash card.
When sending or receiving money, you can send/receive a minimum of $1 and a maximum of $3,000. Over the course of a 7-day period, you can send/receive up to $10,000.
Transferring money to your bank can be done at any time. A minimum of $1 can be transferred at a time, or less than a $1 if your total balance is under $1. Up to $3,000 can be transferred in a single transfer, and over 7 days, you can transfer up to $20,000 to your bank account from Apple Pay Cash.

Why would someone use this over PayPal?

That is a good question.

I know that PayPal allows "chargebacks" - just like Visa and MasterCard. It means that someone can contact the credit card company and dispute a payment and get a refund.

With "Cash" you hand over a dollar and it's gone.

So is Apple Pay "Cash" like real "Cash" or is it like PayPal, Visa, and MasterCard with regards to Chargebacks.

This could be why you might prefer to sell something and collect payment by regular cash, or hopefully Apple Pay "Cash".

Or just add your debit card for free. Zelle sucks.

You do realize Zelle is from the banks themselves right? And how does it suck? Have you ever used it? Is typing a phone number of the recipient and amount too hard?

I've used it numerous times. No issues at all. Done within 30 seconds and cash in my bank account within 2 minutes each time.

Where's the please? And $20 for noodles. Damn

The "please" is the two hands emoji you see in the message :)

Apple Pay Cash, which is comparable to Venmo, is because you can't send it to non-iOS users. That's the part I'm complaining about. Both that and Apple Pay are platform-specific because you can only use them on iOS, but that doesn't really hurt the users, just means vendors and banks have to support more different things.

Not sure I'd trust Siri with dollar amounts yet :)

Please don’t reply if you have nothing useful to say.

If you're having that many issues I would wipe and reload iOS 11 fresh. I've got two others on my account with the same phone and none of them have the issues you're reporting.

I did that yesterday because of the stupid storage bug in iOS 11, the one where the system storage takes up over 30 gigs!!!! It was a bug in the betas that seems to have spilled over.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/ipad-storage-maxed-by-system-in-ios-11-beta.2060713/

I’ll see how it does but I did have a bug with trying to move an icon on the screen after, didn’t happen today when I tried.

I suppose the good news is it means I could get away with a 64GB phone now! May have to look at the X haha
