I got it up and running no problem. What I wonder is how many people who use similar apps/services will switch to Apple cash. Many of my friends and family use Venmo. Although cashing out and switching is easy there really might be no reason for some to do so.

I really want to be into this - anything to make splitting bills easier but the low adoption of Apple pay here is Oz prohibits this. It might also be superseded (or complemented) by the new unified payments system coming to Australia.

Update is failing to verify for me.

I have plenty of space and tried everything: reset network settings, rebooted, cleared cache, deleted and redownloaded update and profile.

Does anyone know how this is posting on your credit card? Normal purchase or cash advance?

I don't know, not sure what if any advantage this would have over, say, Venmo, which is cross-platform and pretty widely used -- at least where I am.
The only advantage I can think of is that you can use the money with Apple Pay terminals without having to wait for it to transfer to another card or your bank. Also you can use Siri to pay someone. Not sure if Venmo lets you do that

Hopefully this gets added to Canada once out of beta or at least not too long after.

We still haven’t gotten the News app for whatever reason. I don’t want Apple Pay Cash to be another News app here in Canada.

This is probably one of the features that I will not even bother looking at when it gets released for masses. Most of the friends I know either have Bank of America or Chase accounts so sending money between those banks is a breeze and almost instantaneous.

Another man in the middle taking a slice. If you're in the US, just use Zelle. There's like a 90% chance you already have it with your bank.

Zelle is not available with all banks. My Credit Union does not yet support Zelle, nor does it support Apple Pay. So its still a mixed bag as to who supports what.

Hi. If you check the previous story, you’ll see that this problem has affected quite a few of us. People tried a variety of fixes. Some fixes worked for a few people but not for all. Most of us eventually seem to have been able to update...after many downloads, deletes, force restarts, etc. Just give it another go, even do what I did and select ‘Remind me later’ and update when you get the reminder...mine worked fine in the end. Lots of theories about what’s been happening. Most popular suggestion is a server issue at Apple’s end. Anyway, give it another go and see if it works for you.

Yeah I’ll try again later or tomorrow. Thanks!

haven't read the whole thread so sorry if this has been talked about already---

is there a limit on how much you can send peer-to-peer?

So I’ve been trying to setup the Apple Pay Cash card in my Wallet but keep getting an error message stating, “Could Not Set Up Apple Pay Cash - Apple Pay services are currently unavailable.” I’ve been getting this error all day. Is anyone else seeing this message? I’m on 11.2 Beta 2 in an iPhone 8 Plus?

I have not seen anything so far about there being any fees involved with cash to cash transmissions. I’m surprised there is not a 2-3% juice especially if you transfer the money to your bank account. I can’t imagine Apple not making any money from this. I can’t imagine there are not costs involved.

It’s called “float”. They earn interest on the amount while it sits in “cash”.

You will be able to use it using Apple Pay wherever it is accepted.

Not quite. You will be able to use it at stores which accept contactless Discover card payments as the Apple Pay cash card is a Discover card. Even if a store takes Discover and takes contactless, doesn’t mean they take contactless Discover. Starbucks in the US is an example of this.

Very poor decision by Apple not to partner with a FI that issues Visa or MasterCard.

Because I can’t square cash or Venmo at most stores, this acts as a separate debit card in ways.

Not quite following. Square Cash can add a Visa Debit card to Apple Pay, which will already be accepted at more places than the Apple Pay Cash Card. Square can even send you a physical Visa Debit card for your Cash account as well.

Due to different banking systems and regulations in each country, I would not expect this to be available in every country, and where it does become available in the future, it may work differently.

For Canada, if it become available, it will likely simply sit on top of the existing Interac e-transfer infrastructure leveraging your existing Interac debit cards in Apple Pay.
