We can all say ios 11 is nothing but a joke, still no icloud messaging still app store problems still random ui glitches and stuff like calculator bug just cant get fixed in months of testing, what has happened to apple i think android is actually becoming more stable now days and apple is losing its optimisation, but we are all stuck in the apple eco system

and you're back to doing nothing but whining about iOS 11. If Android is more stable and better for you, why aren't you on it yet?

There must have been no software issues when Steve Jobs was around.
iOS 11 is the best version of iOS ever. Can you imagine these people complaining about God Emperor Tim Cook? These people on here think that a two year old phones still has the processing power to handle a high CPU app like the calculator. Apple can’t be miracle makers you know and be able to have this breakthrough new technology on old devices.

Apple is totaly ****ing up the software. Don't they have any testing department?! I feel like i'm using some kind of beta buggy software on my iphone with every new update.

I was able to reproduce this. It seems to be because of the + button animation. If you don't wait for the animation to finish, it enters 1 + 23.
This works for any combination, not just 1-2-3.

Pretty shameful that we can't even get a proper functioning calculator app. But I've felt like I've been in beta iOS since iPhone 4S, so not surprised.

Beyond that, input-blocking due to "animations" (often invisible/completed ones) is system-wide for 4 years now with little done to address it.

It just so happens that the calculator app causes people to get the wrong result, whereas normally it just doesn't register the tap.

It used to be really bad for me when I would start typing when the keyboard popped up but it only started accepting input by the 5th letter.

It goes back even further than that.

Happens for me on iOS 10!

it makes sense finally.... Over the last year or more, I've been Re- checking my calculations (im calculating daily) as i seemed to be losing the ability to use a calculator accurately
Turns out it's been a bloody fault with the calculator all this time ‍♂️

That was my experience too, all this time I kept redoing operations assuming I mistyped, and only recently I find out it’s due to the software flaw.

iOS is the buggiest iOS released in a long time. My iPhone 7 Plus is half the phone it used to be now. The battery has instantly lost 35% of its power. I have to keep the phone’s orientation lock constantly on because in both Mail and iMessage, the screen won’t auto orient correctly or gets stuck in one position (this only occurs in those two apps). iMessage will often display incorrectly on my screen with the previous messages being stuck and trapped under the typing bar (the character entry field for new text messages). It does this in a way that doesn’t allow me to see the most recent text message because it is trapped under that bar. So now I have to constantly force quit iMessage to get the screen to redraw everything correctly.

Now I can’t trust the stupid calculator?? The most simplistic function of a smart phone that there can possibly be?

iOS 11 is a complete and total mess. I hate it about as much as I hate the stupid Touchbar on my Macbook Pro or the butterfly keyboard that’s already started squeaking on my 5 month old machine.

I’ve been a lifelong Apple fan and have never used anything else. But man, I’ve not been too happy with them lately.

Edited - I didn’t realize it was related to the speed of typing it in. I’m an idiot. still an issue. But also still an issue that is not one anyone is really going to come across I don’t imagine.

No change to the problem on my iPhone 8 running Developer beta 5.
You’re completely right. I’m an idiot and forgot it was due to the speed of the entry. My apologies.

That said, this is still a bug that exists but impacts virtually no one.

I know you are using the *gate for amusement but this is not a maths issue - the app does its calculations correctly every time. The issue is the slowness of the app and its ability to cope with "rapid" data entry.

If it gives the wrong answer under any conditions then it has failed. If a hardware calculator only accepted every other push of the 2 key would you consider it working fine. No, I don't think any reasonable person would.

It does impact me. Not that I would scream etc but I had issues with this. I thought it was just me typing the wrong numbers.

Yep. I agree with you. Firs time I am disappointed with an iOS release, at least on my iPhone. My kids and my wife also say that they are disappointed and we all notice battery issues. Some of it certainly “placebo” but I used to go 6AM to 9PM with regular usage (some browsing, Facebook, music etc) and now I barely get to 5PM.

SJ was the testing dept and he is no longer with us so...

Doesn't happen for me on iOS 10.3.3. I can type 1+2+3 really really fast and it still comes out at 6 every time. I even did it at supersonic speed and it said 6 again.

Is that how there were issues when he was around too?
no phone is perfect so yeah there were still some issue during the SJ era. but no were near as many as there are today. back then ios was the smoothest thing going. but today i am afraid that is no longer the case, as that title has to go to the new google pixel. actually even last years pixel phone was smoother than the iphone. im afraid today's ios is no were near the ios of old. todays ios is janked up mess JMHO.
