I wonder if the "one more thing" is still secret. I haven't seen anything in the leaks so far that would be an earth shattering feature. Animoji? LTE Apple Watch? 4K Apple TV? Facial recognition? Full screen display? Nothing there is the next feature nobody knew they needed but will now find indispensable. So far it is just refinements and features that should have been implemented one or two generations ago.

The only thing I can even remotely fathom is some kind of AR/VR headset to compete with the Samsung Gear VR. If they've got something ready to tie into the iPhone X and ship in time for the holiday season I'll be impressed.

If I were a VP at Apple I would make it my mission to find the perpetrator of this leak and make him/her unemployable anywhere in the tech sector. Forever.

Great: the 2015 OLED screen and a 2010 inductive charger - in a 2011 design.
Insane: the camera bulb went vertical
We can identify ourselves - again - and the fastest processor on the planet got ehhh... faster.
Hopefully Phil and the other billionaires will wear jeans again, otherwise just too much change to adopt..Gee man, need my home button to keep myself upright ... where did it go ?

Lol. Then why did you visit a rumors website, silly goose?
I visit macrumours almost every day, cute bunny. But the numbers of leaks this time is overwhelming... I just made a good decision eh?

Never understood why people want spoiler free reveals but visit Macrumors on a regular basis.

I personally visit this site for the leaks and spoilers. It’s not like I won’t be watching the reveals anyway.
I love reading rumours but this time it's overwhelming

Actually, where it all went wrong this time is when someone with access to firmware that was not meant for public consumption put it on public-facing servers. Twice. If I were in Tim Cook's shoes, I'd be livid.
That happened after months of leaks and rumors, and only provided details of what had already been revealed. We’re you surprised by FaceId? We’re you surprised by anything in this leak?

What happened in a general sense was that the iPhone is too big to keep secret. Tim Cook may very well be livid, but he'll get over it. He famously "doubled down" on secrecy half a decade ago. I suspect he's over that, too. Most people don't keep their new year resolutions past February, but keep diligent tabs on whether Tim Cook keeps his. MacRumors commenters can be livid by proxy for Tim, and he can keep on smiling :) every time one of his scheduled AAPL stock trades executes.

I’m interested what will happen to the iPad lineup in the next few years with all this iPhone X new technology. Imagine an iPad with the bezel less design of the iPhone X and just that little camera bump at the top of the screen

Previous to Leakgate, I was expecting Tim's big reveal to be iPhone 8 & 8 plus. Everyone's liking what they see, but not blown away. Then, in a nod to SJ - in the theater bearing his name - Tim would utter those words... "But we have one more thing..." The crowd would go nuts and then Tim would debut the iPhone X as all nerd faces melt. #oops

That said, with this being the 1st keynote/product launch in the new SJ Theater, I would not be surprised if we weren't treated to some cinematic short film about the new campus (as envisioned by SJ), new devices and a new Apple - or something.

Pretty sure I'm coming down with a head cold. May have to stay home and recover on Tues.
I said "one more thing" but what I really want is to see a mind blowing feature on stage for the first time. Apple hasn't done that in years when it comes to the iPhone. We've know pretty much everything about the phones prior to the keynote since the iPhone 4 got lost/stolen. And these most recent leaks are arguable worse than that.

What's so shocking to me about these leaks is that they're all coming from Silicon Valley. Usually the leaks come from Apple's supply chain in China where they have less control and the employees don't give a ****. But we've seen hardly any parts leaks, while Apple's campus decided they're just gonna release software whenever they want now...

Regardless, I think I caught the flu early this year ;)

I think it's the funniest thing to happen in years. Apple hype up these events like the 'second coming'. I just love the fact their balloon of pomposity and sef-importance has well and truly been pricked on this occasion.

Serves them right. What a self-obssesed lot.
WTF are you on about? Apple gets slammed a lot for being overly secretive. They say next to nothing about upcoming products or when they will be revealed, and their roll out presentations are almost always a simple poster with some missive like "Let's meet at our place". And from this your take away is some implied hype job?

I'm sure he's furious rolling around in his billion dollars he has.

This is one use case where FaceID will no doubt fail. What's next Apple, VoiceID?!

We'll see just how Schiller presents this use case or completely ignores it with spin.
I can imagine how tomorrow's going to go down right now.

"And we knew some of you might be apprehensive to hear that we're replacing one of Apple's magical technologies that we just began including in our amazing new MacBook Pros. But we think it's great, so we ignored what our customers think and did it anyway. And do you know what it takes to ignore your customers' wishes and still expect them to shell out a grand or more for a product that drops functionality? One word -- courage."

I think people are underestimating how quickly FaceID will work. If they replace TouchID with an instant face capture (unlocks while raising the device) so that you don’t wait while it thinks then it’ll unlock before you even get a chance to look at a lock screen. If they fail at this then, yes, it’ll be a step backwards.

It will be interesting to see how this works exactly. They introduced 'raise to wake' to the iPhone because pressing the home button caused TouchID to unlock way too fast. Too fast to see what notifications you have. So if facial recognition instantly unlocks when you raise the device, it introduces this problem again. And with no home button, I don't know what the prompt to unlock vs just look at notifications could be that isn't less convenient.

Personally, I'll miss TouchID a lot. Don't really like the sound of the process that explained how facial recognition works with Apple Pay. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Just wondering, I haven't kept up on this site like I used to.. wasn't the plan to put TouchID into the screen? Did that just not work out, so facial recognition is a plan b? If so, that is too bad. Getting rid of a technology for the wrong reasons.

Sorry but what is and how would a touch less fingerprint scanner work?

A touch-less sensor uses a near infrared sensor and camera to scan the fingerprint without contact. It’s actually better, no worries about wet hands or inconsistent placement of finger on flat contact scanners. In public places needed security the new scanners are now being used due to hygiene concerns of multiple people touching the scanner.

But the use of fingerprints is also going away, they can still be spoofed, but the blood vessels under the skin are much much harder to spoof, and near infrared can see these structures under the skin.

I think Apple could even be using blood vessels under skin in FaceID, they are definitely using near infrared, so they could, and that would be way more secure so who knows.

There hasn't been a mind-blowing feature or keynote since Steve did the iPhone 4 one.

It’s better than 5 years ago when people spent hours debating the legitimacy of bad pic taken with a potato.

Mind blowing? Hmm. Probably not.

iPhone 6 was pretty good. So was Apple Watch. I’d still give the edge to Steve revealing the iPhone 4, which I still think is most impressively designed smartphone of all time.

Agree there. The glass sandwich was a great design. My fave was my white 4s.

Basically the only thing I now need from tomorrow's show is for Tim Cook to open the new iPhone wearing his glasses and then I'll know I'm alright...

Seriously, I mean really? Their events are signposted and drooled over for months, it's so well done you haven't even noticed you're being led by the nose have you? Phew!

Proceed with caution. Would be cool if MR offered a user the ability to customize or filter/toggle content.

Can't help but feel a bit disgusted about this GM "leak". I mean sure, Apple has been relying on rumors and minor leaks here and there to generate hype and expectations on their new releases, we've all gotten used to it. But this one, it seems more like an intentional sabotage aiming to ruin the event before the climax is even here. :\
