If only they spent four years educating users and spending even a fraction of time at their press conferences to mention the issue. They have made almost zero effort to explain this to end users. You know, the people who will have their paid for apps broken.

Yes! They should have actually gone a step further and made it clear on the app store (from 4 years ago or whenever)whether an app was 32 or 64 and a caveat warning the buyer that 32 bit apps would be discontinued in the future. That would probably have prevented many people from buying them in the first place. It would also have put pressure on the developers to make a 64 bit version to increase sales.

The problem is mainly apps that the developer hasn't continued to develop, but may still be useful to users. So a warning to buyers won't help now, and would have been a wild guess a few years ago when still under development.

I agree with you. I have an app released in 2014 that I got some time afterwards, maybe 2015 or 2016, that I can't let go of. It only had one version and was never updated, there are no contact details for the developer, so I can't do anything about it. As a result, I'm updating my iPad Pro but not my phone, as I need that app.

But, if I had known about the potential problems before I got it, I wouldn't have bothered and it wouldn't have become so important to me. I would have made do with an alternative. As this app is particularly well-designed and fits my needs perfectly, there is no going back now. No alternatives are available and nothing comes close.

I already miss the 3D Touch app switching gesture on the left edge of my screen. Oh well.

I wish I had known that before upgrading. I might have waited since it was one of my favorite features. I hate double pressing the home button.

Well, i would like to upgrade but we don't have the permission from our Company yet... It seems that Citrix VPN, Citrix Receiver, One Note and Good Reader are not working correctly under iOS 11.

I only installed it on my iPad Pro and then after 5 minutes, shut it down and put it back in the drawer because I don't use it anymore.

My 5S, 6S, 6S+ 6+ and SE will not see iOS 11. Two of my phones are jailbroken and so is my iPad Mini which is also sitting in a drawer.

And those that do most of the time end up useless. I am so afraid to even go back and try android again.
You make it sound like a phone is worthless just because it stops getting updates after 2 years. The Note 4/Note Edge just got an update once again after three years.

The report is considering on a percentage basis, which is not always true... iOS devices have increased in number from last year. That too in millions. Comparing the figures of last year and this year in absolute terms, iOS 11 has been installed on more number of devices than the last year.

Any minute now a Apple will stop signing iOS 10. You better hurry before Apple removes reinstalling a previous iOS in the next iTunes version.

But let me turn-off Bluetooth (or Wifi)! You don't even have a 3000mAh battery!

The Control Center buttons are connection drop only. If you shut the radios off in Settings, they are off until you turn them back on.

You don't notice the horrible choppiness that happens when opening mail sometimes?
Don’t have that. Everything running smooth. Mail opens right up with no choppiness

I do have reduce motion turned on in accessibility/general/settings. Try that. I never liked the animations in motion when I open and close things.

iOS 11 seems like a huge step backwards thus far
There's definitely things in iOS10 that I miss, I've yet to decide if the additions out way the subtractions on the phone. As for the iPad, I'm loving what they've done so far.

I updated the iPad and iPhone. I like the iPad very much. I’ll be using the iPhone more today because I’m back in the office. We will see.

and what is the percentage of people rolling back to 10.3.3 already..? i know of five (six if i count myself... ipad and iphone) and i don’t know that many people
[doublepost=1505999075][/doublepost]and i'm baffled how, after introducing such a broken podcasts app, then taking years to perfect it, it is worse off now than it ever was. (but that was this mornings problem)

I updated everyting except my work ipad which is an iPad 4 and apparently that isn't included since it couldn't find an update. :( everything else seems to be running great. no battery drain issues no lag and no crashes. FYI the AR apps are raw but pretty damn cool.

You should keep checking with your iPad. My iPad Mini 2 installed iOS 11 on release day. Sometimes Apple's update rollouts vary depending on region, carrier, and product make and model.

The end result is the same. For the first time I'll be staying with an old release as long as possible. From the sound of it, I'm not alone.

My wife's IT department sent an email instructing everyone in her company to stay on iOS10. When stuff like that's happening, there's a misfire someplace.

True, but this might also be because of the MS Bug in Outlook that needs to be patched by MS, which is the case with the company I work for. You didn't say if her company was using Outlook or not, so I am just taking a stab in the dark. But I know this has been a big issue with IT departments and companies who are running MS Office 365 on their devices.

I "like" it overall on the 6, as it animates smoother and faster and feels nice to manipulate, but:
- Bluetooth was broken, had to re-pair all my devices (like every other update since iOS 5)
- battery is draining 30% faster and it takes longer to recharge (weird?)
- typing is affected by keyboard lag. it's slow and misses keystrokes.
- iMessage is sooo slow on the 6 that there is no other choice but to use Whatsapp
- the new Siri voice is great but a bit process intensive and slower to respond than the old one.
- Facebook takes 2x longer to load
- screenshots take longer to take as the new process that lets you edit them is processor-intensive. Also, sharing screenshots from the screenshot edit functionality crashes half of the times
- Apple Pay / Wallet are slower and uglier
- I find brightness often cranked back to the max
- it's harder to find apps installed on the phone by using spotlight, the AI powered search is a bit bonkers. On iOS10 when I wanted to play a game of Threes, I typed "Three" in Spotlight and Threes was the first result. Now I have to type "Threes" with the S at the end or it doesn't surface it. It however suggests "Three lucky friends", "Three days time" and "Three new playlists" and I have no idea where those uncanny suggestions come from... looks like early days Google suggested searches.

good things
- buttery animations
- different levels of intensity for the torch!!!
- battery saving mode in control center
- apps open from the icon location! pretty
- new control center is faster an great to use
- all black wallpaper is now available!
- the iPhone is keener to connect to public networks and to prompt the login / password screen. Guess it's a double edged win given how it impacts the Watch.
- storage saving suggestions are great
