I plan on waiting before upgrading, get the usual bug fixes out first unless Im forced to upgrade.

My phone looks visually almost the same as it did two days ago with the exception of the new control center the unified notification pane and some font tweaking. Oh but they did take away the force touch appswitcher from the left side of the screen.
I been watching mine, trying not to let it catch me looking. Practicing for the iPhone X. SO FAR HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY SHAPE SHIFTING OR COLOR CHANGES, STILL JET BLACK, AND 7 PlUS SIZE.

Will keep you all posted if it starts morphing on me. :D

Oh you meant the screen........

The entire metric seems to start really losing meaning when taking into account that some 200 million devices were just added to the pool of those outright incapable of updating to the latest iOS.

I mean, my own household will peak at 50% installation on active devices, down from 100% two days ago.

You won't be given a list before you install if that is what you are asking. You'll get a message when you try and run them, but by then it will be too late and you will be stuck.

Except that you are given a list before you install. Settings>General>About>Applications.

It was in an article in this very site and at numerous other locations.

I think I should’ve waited to download the new iOS. I have notice a bit of lagging on my 6s plus. Another lagging that I have notice is when I pick up my phone it does not wake up rapidly like it use to. I hope that no one else is having issues after downloading the new iOS.

I also feel users are keeping their devices longer, and are thinking twice before updating an older device.

Indeed, between generational improvements reducing in magnitude and the virtual elimination of mobile co subsidies, forcing people to confront the full price of a new phone (whether purchasing outright or via financing plan), there's at least two thoughts given to the decision.

It works flawlessly. I got the forced update for 12.7, downgraded to 12.6.2 and did all the updates to iOS 11 with my old iTunes 12.6.2.

iPhone 6s plus, iPhone 7, iPad Pro 12.9 first gen, iPad Pro 10.5.

everything as before. Syncing and local backup iOS 11 without any problem.

Thanks for this . . . gives me less reason to avoid the update.

Now, anyone who never upgraded to 12.7? I wonder if an update and revert leaves some token that you've updated to 12.7 on your computer so it doesn't block use with iOS 11.

They use Office 365 for mail and their users are using the Apple Mail client.. that doesn't currently work. So I'd say it's not her company at fault.
Well apple needs to fix this.

Didn’t anybody test this at your wife’s company? So it really shouldn’t be an issue as the mail is not “down”.

However those companies who use exchange, no issues.

Yes, that was my original post. They put out a corporate memo telling people not to upgrade. This entire thread is about people not upgrading at the usual rate, thus my post. It's not an issue in the sense that nobody is lacking e-mail access. It is an issue in the sense that for a number of reasons, people aren't upgrading at the rate Apple is known for.

Based on just the final 24 hours, which isn't much of a statistically signifiant indicator of much one way or another.

For those that call this insanely low, Apple has updated the equivalent of ALL android users on their current OS overnight. Let that sink in

Want to keep my 32-bit apps.

At some point I will upgrade, but I want to play with them some more.

Just go for it. It's fine and really nice - if you are not running 32bit Apps.
That is another issue, I have about 120 32-bit apps. I probably only use a handful of them with any regularity, but there are some with no real replacement. You might know the company Eye-Fi that sells SD cards with a built-in WiFi radio to allow a direct transfer of images from a camera to a phone. A few months back it announced to stop support for some older cards, where stopping support meant no longer updating the app that does the image transfer. Their existing app would probably keep working for years were it not for that pesky 32-bit issue.

There are solutions obviously, buy a newer card from them, buy a newer camera with built-in WiFi, or buy an SD card reader with Lightning.

That is a great way to alienate customers. There should be no reason for this company to stop supporting older cards. I’m familiar with them I almost bought their cards, but now my camera has direct access to my iPhone via WiFi.

32-bits apps would probably contribute a large part... nothing small about it...

"Infinitie Maze" on iOS is a neat little maze type game using rotation of device to move, but up to date app, yet not compatible with iOS 11. while on my iPad i have 27 apps out of 31 which are compatible.... which means i'll loose access to most of them and all are up date as well..

However, that time passes petty quickly.

Could you elaborate more about the metric part?

I installed it on my 7Plus. Can honestly say I have not noticed any slowdown at all. In fact I actually got impression things were working a tad bit faster. Nothing significant mind you. Siri sounds much more real.

You don't notice the horrible choppiness that happens when opening mail sometimes?

This is bad. 50% battery drain in less than hour just going on Facebook.
And phone hot to touch.
Not happy. This is on iPhone 7plus.
Why can't apple test their iOS fully before release. Every B****y time this kind of thing happens. Puts you off iPhones for good.
I haven't heard android becoming useless after every update!
Patience is a virtue most people could use to practice more often.

You do realize that the majority of people don't read tech blogs and thus would not know to drill down into settings to find an obsure reference to their apps four levels deep prior to them accepting an ios update that's pushed out to them right? Neither you nor Apple should expect that.

Also, getting such a list only reflects what you have installed on that device, not all the apps you have sitting on your account that also will now not work.

Again Apple could have (and should have) handled this better.

iOS 11 seems like a huge step backwards thus far. Lockscreen while playing music looks terrible, i miss the Album cover artwork being big and stretching across the display. I also thing the control center or w/e you call it looks very cluttered and bulky, and I don't understand why they blurred everything behind it but still leave 1/4 or so of the screen at the top blank with nothing...What? A lot of this feels like change for the sake of change and not functionality (I.E changing the signal bars from dots to bars again)
