The iOS 11 update has not been affected by installation issues like iOS 10 was, but there have been some reports of app slowdowns and performance drops, which could potentially be holding people back from installing until a later date.

Apple also delayed several key iOS 11 features, including peer-to-peer Apple Pay and iCloud storage for iMessages, another reason that some users might not yet be inspired to download new software.
I really don't think people are reading about app slowdowns. Some people may be more cautious if they heard about problems with iOS 10 installations. Some people might be waiting for a new phone rather than updating a phone they're about to replace.

Me? I have an iPhone 5, which isn't supported. You'll see my numbers added to the installed base in November.

Just downgrade. You sound like it's unfixable. I did a clean update to 11 on my iPhone6 128Gb and it slowed it right down. Totally unacceptable. Just restored it to iOS10 while Apple is still signing it and my phone is now perfect. Smooth super fast and battery lasts all day long just like before. Screw major Apple updates.
I think I'll stick to 10.3.3 on my 6s for a few more weeks.

So you're putting yourself and others at risk by running obsolete insecure software? That's clever.
Lead me to the article that shows running iOS 9.3.5 puts others at risk or better yet affected someone's iPhone by stealing all there info because they didn't upgrade to the latest iOS version. I've never heard of 1 forum member or any article ever published of a user regretting not updating because they feel victim to iOS fraud or scheme. Using your iPhone wisely goes a long way...

As long as Apple doesn't bug me about updating with multiple notifications each day, I will be just fine with iOS 10.

Trust me, android is fine with this. I left because of how slow my apple phone got after a forced upgrade that couldn't be undone. And pleases don't insult me by saying I wasn't forced.

Yes Apple should adopt the android model where it is not even possible to upgrade the os. That would be much more valuable lol.

My Air 2 is the same; stutters everywhere and apps taking twice as long to open. Say what you like about android about how they get slower over time, but you get the option to uninstall and change the OS as often as you like. I really wasnt going to update because several of my banking apps are still 32 bit, but relented thinking they will update them. My own fault.

Yeah you can uninstall and put any os you want on it as long as it’s not a newer version of android. People trying to paint the android os situation as being superior are being absurd.

Try a clean iOS 11 install using iTunes. Wipe it, fresh iOS 11 install, fresh install apps. This will go a long way to clearing up problems and issues. Incremental updates on a major iOS refresh usually result in lag and other problems.

There is nothing to support this.

View attachment 721405 View attachment 721406 Wrong. When Apple relentlessly pesters you DAILY to update iOS, that is NOT "choosing" to update. Choice by the force of a gun is not choice.

Yeah that is clearly a choice.

Install a tvOS beta profile and you won't be bugged.

When is 11.1 coming out?
Not for a little while at least. Most likely still need to go through a developer/public beta phase, which hasn't even started just yet.

So true. Even with their iOS updates and processor capabilities, new iPhones are not even beating out a S8 plus in application speed and ram management. Thats just why adopting the latest full OS update doesn't change certain things.

Considering the iPhone 8 is supposed to have a faster processor then the Galaxy S8 I think all this video proves is that Samsung has much better optimized software. It's surprising how much Samsung has improved their software over the past couple years. Samsung seems to be getting smoother and quicker while Apple is the one getting the stutters and slowing down. iOS 11 is mediocre on my Air 2. It's got as many little stutters as a 4 year old build of Touchwiz and the battery doesn't last nearly as long anymore. I like the new features, but it needs a lot of polish applied to it.

It had better start soon. Apple almost immediately acknowledged new glitches (e.g. the static voice calls on some phones) less than a day after they were publicly reported.

In fact, they better be feverishly working on the WatchOS update too. The initial shipments and reviews reporting the LTE connectivity issues….. the news of that has already translated into terrible doom and gloom prognosis for the AppleWatch 3.

Apple is working on all those updates for some time already internally based on how software development lifecycle goes.

Samsung's TouchWiz was harassed for so many years. I'm sure this got to them and that's the reason it's becoming so polished. I can't wait to see what the future brings for it. The new UX is modern and futuristic and makes others look old.

I'm guessing tens of millions of active older 32-bit devices will eat into the overall stats (4, 4s, 5, iPad 4 & older).

Exactly.

These statistics are skewed, missing data for relative information.

iPhone 4/4S, and to a larger degree many iPhone 5 devices are NOT able to upgrade to iOS 11 yet still are in use by end users not will nor financially able to upgrade to newer hardware : especially at current pricing beyond iPhone SE.

None of the darts presented clearly states it’s omitted 32-bit coy only iOS devices from these metrics.

My iPhone 6 has been smooth as glass since I got it nearly three years ago. Install iOS 11, and stutter, stutter, stutter, freeze, delay, stutter. OMG, I'm so sad. My phone was still working perfectly, until yesterday. I should NOT have upgraded.

Upgrade back to 10.3.3 before Apple stop signing it.

There are many unfixed vulnerabilities with older versions of iOS which are no longer supported by Apple. In this case, iOS 9 hasn't received any updates for over 13 months! And what about your apps, many of which will only be fully supported on iOS 10 & 11. It's a nonsense to try to justify why running old & obsolete software isn't a security concern.

Using your phone 'wisely' is laughable. You cannot control data old & vulnerable apps may be leaking. Nor can you have any control over compromised vulnerable apps.

To be fair to Android, it doesn't quite work in the same way. Google provide AppCompat libraries for developers that backport features such as material design layouts in newer releases of Android onto older versions, so the need to update isn't quite as critical as with iOS. With iOS, you're basically screwed on using any of the new features of the latest OS unless you update.

Anybody else having trouble with iOS 11 and Honda and Acura Bluetooth systems?

I'm growing a little concerned after running through a few cars and finding several problems.

  • Low playback volume with stored audio
Low volume on Bluetooth calls making the call impossible
Contact names will not populate over numbers
Voice commands from Bluetooth HandsFreeLink no longer work

10.3.3 works fine but iOS 11 does not.

Multiple tests, multiple cars in a range from 2014 - 2018.
