The complexity of these screens gets worse and worse with every release. What in the heck is going on internally?

This is what the redesign should have been last year. With the old one, whenever I swiped up, I would always be in the wrong pane, and useless functions like night shift wasted space.

It's still bizarre they went halfway with the customization though. Everything should be removable (never in a million years will I use
AirPlay Mirroring.) It would also be nice to be able to "pin" the full audio viewer so you don't have to 3D Touch/longpress to access the scrubber. Hopefully they'll continue to tweak it before release.

I like the customization but I wish you could make certain widgets take up more space. For example I want to be able to slide brightness without having to 3D Touch into it. Same with scrubbing tracks.

Is there a button to let me toggle bluetooth sources quickly? like say from my iPhone to the AirPods?

swiping to the second control panel screen is not as fluid on iOS 10.

I want it to be more so.

thx.

Unfortunately not. You have to 3D Touch the Music pane and then tap on the AirPlay-like symbol.

Can you deep press the Wifi button and it takes you to the Wifi pane in system settings?

Nope.

No control center access to Home? That's a bummer as that's how I get quick access to all of my lights...

Yes. There is a Home toggle. For some reason it's not showing up on my iPhone though.

What if I don't have 3D Touch?

I believe you hold your finger down for a few seconds instead of deep pressing. Pretty sure that's the backup 3D Touch action for older devices.

Three years in the making but we can finally customize control panel. What a treat! (No sarcasm)

I wonder if that's a security thing? Since you can use CC while the phone is locked, perhaps Apple doesn't want to add that feature because then anyone could easily switch you to a nefarious network while you aren't looking.
Could be. The obvious response I can think of would be to prompt a password or touchid when locked though.

What are the chances this whole 3D touch based interface is going to be completely muddled on non-3D touch devices like the iPhone 6/iPhone SE? I don't understand how they cannot implement long press interaction for those of us without the latest devices.

Wow, the new control center is an example of "what not to do" with UI design. An absolute lazy, deplorable, disjointed, confusing, and otherwise cringeworthy design approach that favors function over form. From a company that touts a harmonious balance of function and form throughout its products, I'm shocked by the amateur execution of this.
reminds me of the awful w10 tiles of different size and shapes. never liked them.

BUT!!! there's a quick low power mode toggle! finally!

I really really wish you could deep / long press the WiFi button to quickly switch access points. I often have to switch between them and going through settings irritates me to no end. It wouldn't need to be every access point, just the ones that I connect to often.

3D press on WiFi brings up a cluster containing:
  1. Airplane Mode
  2. Cellular Data
  3. WiFi
  4. Bluetooth
  5. AirDrop
  6. Personal Hotspot

I was hoping for that as well, right now you just get the cluster to toggle. Switch would be pretty awesome!

UX/UI designer here... what a mess. It's sad what's become of Apple lately.
It is a step in the proper direction, but certainly needs refinement.
[doublepost=1496769208][/doublepost]I really like the iOS Dock and new keyboard on iPad and the new Screen Effects in Messages:
  1. Echo
  2. Spotlight

is it just me or has "Night Shift" disappeared?
Night Shift is under Display & Brightness

Beta Testers, can you confirm a couple things that i couldn't find in the summary

1: Compatible hardware? what features work on what devices?
2: Can defaults be replaced?
3: if device doesn't have force touch (like iPad), What's the mechanism here to get the same functionality
4: Can you long press/hold on a connection button to pull up a list of options? EG: Hold/press the wifi button to get a list of Wifi available? or do you still have to go to the settings program?

It's going to take a little bit of getting use to the new cluttered control center layout.
That's rhe first thing I said...it looks really cluttered but I guess something you can get use to, not sure about the slider volume like that.

I honestly dont understand how they woke up in the morning, went to work and were like DAMN THIS LOOKS GREAT with a straight face.

Why not just have round icons to quickly tap of the same size without such a clutter with sizes all over the place. Worst are them voice and brightness controls. They r right at the spot where i would flip to bring down control center. Idiotic

Will I be able to replace Apple Music with Spotify on the CC?

Its turning into whatever source you are listening from. However album art doesnt seem to work yet, at least for spotify
