Maybe I am a minority, but 3D Touch is one of my favorite features on the iPhone. I use it for absolutely everything, and it's a huge convenience and shortcut. I think this will play nicely with the control center.

I find its one more thing to confuse novice users. It's a huge pain for me when helping friends and family as now they get these "weird menus" or it does "strange things" when the accidentally press too long on a screen. Thankfully i can turn it off...

While iOS has become great for more advanced users, the easy of use is getting worse and worse as they make them more complicated to handle the new capabilities.

Jesus what a mess. Just put this stuff in the notification pull down. Notifications in centre, widget swipe to left, control centre swipe to right.

I'm forever bringing it up by accident when browsing the web. And when I actually want it, sometimes it doesn't come up and I end up swiping up several times, often pressing other buttons that are on the screen.

Ho him, woe is me.

Can you at least 3D Touch on the wifi symbol yet to change/connect networks?

Of course your opinion counts - ultimately it's non designers who are going to use the software Apple makes - they'll decide whether it's any good or not. But given that this is literally my profession, and I do this day in and day out, I can tell you there's no way I would have suggested or ever turned in that design.

Anyway, if I remember correctly, you're a bit of a rabid fanboy (I think you were telling me how Apple was going to destroy Switzerland and the luxury watch industry), so I kind of expect you to like anything Apple puts forward.

Of course it looks like a mess when pretty much everything from settings is thrown in there. I highly doubt most people will add that much to it. I'm not saying it's the best design I've ever seen but then I didn't think iOS 1-6 were either. But I'm not a UI/UX designer so I suppose my opinion doesn't count.

I wonder if that's a security thing? Since you can use CC while the phone is locked, perhaps Apple doesn't want to add that feature because then anyone could easily switch you to a nefarious network while you aren't looking.

Ah. That totally makes sense. And is very unfortunate. Perhaps it could be gotten around by only bringing up "known devices", once that already have the password stored. I was truly hoping this would be added - can't tell you how many times I've discovered once I get into the car and start driving that BT was turned off. Turning it back on doesn't automatically connect to the car, and I have to dive into settings to select it.

Stop complaining, this is the best control center ever. Customisation FTW. Why is always someone that says: apple you didn't do this minor thing ??? I QUIT BYE APPLE!!!!!
-.-'

Oh wow, I missed that you could have it shortcut to different places within the Clock app. I use mine to set alarms all the time so it was mildly annoying that it always took me to the wrong tab. I hope something like this is opened up to third party developers in the future. I had speculated before the keynote that they could do something just like this, but with third party developers able to provide icons and shortcuts to different actions or views within their app. Such as compose a tweet, take a photo in Instagram, etc.

I'm going to have mine laid out like this:

[flashlight][alarm][calc][camera]
[remote][home][low power][notes]

This will remove a couple more apps from my home screen, which will be really nice. Surprised there's no shortcut for Messages. I don't get why low power mode isn't a settings toggle instead of with the rest of the shortcuts though? Are the settings toggles not editable then? I also don't get why you can't 3D touch the WiFi or BT icons and jump into the settings app to connect to something.

Any way to change the Default Camera app? or add a 3rd party in there? That would be huge for me as I typically shoot RAW with my iPhone using Procam

I do too. I miss it quite a bit whenever I use an iOS device without it.

No kidding. We should go back to the way it was when Steve Jobs was in charge.

You double tap home to bring up the tray at the bottom of the screen, and if you slide on that tray in the opposite direction, boom, brightness controls, and slide in that direction again, boom, other controls.

So thoughtfully designed. So few motions. It was all so intuitive that they didn't even bother indicating that you even could swipe in that direction on the app switcher to reach your system controls.

Or are you in the majority of users who never even found that feature, because I was being completely sarcastic and it was horribly done?
Just because this new tile approach offers more content customizability has nothing to do with its piss poor UI design. It could have been MUCH nicer looking is the point.

Weird that you can't 3D press on the wifi and bluetooth buttons to pick a network of device. It seems such an obvious step.

I have wanted this feature since my first day with an iPhone! I understand that it could be a security hazard, but that is a risk that I am personally willing to take! Or maybe you can disable network switching from the lock screen.

Go buy an android phone. Have you actually tried using this on iPad?
Wtf are you talking about? I said I actually like it. Go buy a ****ing android for yourself. And of course I haven't tried it, the OS hasn't been released yet.

Why does there always have to be an antagonist asinine response to every post on this site?

Is there a button to let me toggle bluetooth sources quickly? like say from my iPhone to the AirPods?

swiping to the second control panel screen is not as fluid on iOS 10.

I want it to be more so.

thx.

Bluetooth is really buggy right now.

Control center looks like a mess and using the volume and brightness scrollers are quite terrible. The customization is welcome, but I hope this design changes before the GM.

Not really, its looking a lot like this https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/2f/a5/0a/2fa50a30d356b28f45c7dd34bc31fe5f.jpg

What a mess. iOS losing the polish and going towards Android like chaos.

Agreed. I miss the days when Apple decided how you were supposed to use their product with minimal customization because they tried every other possibility and determined what was the 'best'. Now they're just trying to please everyone and it's become a complete mess.

I'm very surprised that no major changes came to the UI, or the notification centre. I hate to say it, but I prefer the look of Android's version of control centre and notifications.

You can customise the order of the icons by changing the order in the settings app, I don't know why that wasn't mentioned in the article...
Yep, and it looks like a mess because the author just threw together something to demo for the readers.

I guarantee my OCD will lead me to trying hundreds of combinations and my Control Panel page will look fantastic.

It can indeed be a problem because in my observation, older users with arthritis can't moderate their presses well. Even I have trouble due to an old injury in my left hand.

That being said, I think the implementation in Control Center makes sense. I'll try to keep an open mind about it for now.

It's a step in the right direction, but it needs proper drag and drop reordering screen in the Settings. That list is so amateur... And I don't need Airplay Mirroring option at all, should be able to hide it.
