Yikes... I'm all for customization, but it still has to be done well. o_O

iOS is getting more complicated to use, most of it due to features that nobody asked for (stickers, GIFs, "live photos") while things like a dark/night theme remain absent.

Doesn't that just prove that 3D Touch is a gimmick?
Yes and no. In some cases holding on something will cause something different to happen than when you 3D Touch. For example, holding an app icon on the home grid will toggle the "wiggle" mode in which you move and delete apps, whereas 3D Touch on such an icon will toggle options for that app (usually shortcuts, sometimes a widget, and always the ability to share that app).

I honestly think this looks awful, and just not well thought out at all. The one we have now is perfect, just needed a way to add more to the bottom under the default ones and that's it. Now it's cluttered, and just downright ugly. It's more tolerable on iPad, but that's not saying much.

iOS 11 has numerous annoyances, the lack of labels in the dock, the massive titles, the wtf notification center UI. Stop fixing things that aren't broken ffs.

Wow, the new control center is an example of "what not to do" with UI design. An absolute lazy, deplorable, disjointed, confusing, and otherwise cringeworthy design approach that favors function over form. From a company that touts a harmonious balance of function and form throughout its products, I'm shocked by the amateur execution of this.

No kidding. We should go back to the way it was when Steve Jobs was in charge.

You double tap home to bring up the tray at the bottom of the screen, and if you slide on that tray in the opposite direction, boom, brightness controls, and slide in that direction again, boom, other controls.

So thoughtfully designed. So few motions. It was all so intuitive that they didn't even bother indicating that you even could swipe in that direction on the app switcher to reach your system controls.

Or are you in the majority of users who never even found that feature, because I was being completely sarcastic and it was horribly done?

It's a complete fail on iPad as it's bolted onto the app switcher which I don't want to see, when watching video for example (the focused app is then minimised). Not only that but it requires a long swipe up to first reject the task bar. A huge leap back in usability. Simply adjusting the brightness whilst watching a video now requires one to swipe up past the task bar, the app then being minimised to finally select the required control. Not a good experience.

This really needs a rethink on iPad.

I couldn't care less about the appearance and am so happy we get back to one control panel screen. And it's customizable. Function over form. Thanks Apple!
Go buy an android phone. Have you actually tried using this on iPad?

Control center looks like a mess and using the volume and brightness scrollers are quite terrible. The customization is welcome, but I hope this design changes before the GM.
I would be really shocked if the design changed much. Apple rarely does major redesign during betas.

Nice upgrade. Yes, it is cluttered, but how else can so many functions fit in the control center? And most users will not load the pane up with every available control.

I do hope it's refined before the final release but it's FAR better than the current control center that slides horizontally when you want to change volume and changes volume when you want to slide horizontally!

Is it just me or everyone seems fascinated with the new control center? I mean is ok to have a new look of it, but i was expecting more than this in terms of UI, since iOS 7 we have had the same flat design. No options to tweak like dark mode, themes, same icons, same style. Its now bored to me. This should be 10.3 not 11.
Because software is only about the aesthetics of the user interface?

Love the utility. Hate the disconnect.

Would prefer if they left the buttons connected with the shaded background.

User without 3D-Touch will lose their audio scrubber. That's really bad.

And why do they waste screen space with a button, that is the only button that has an explanatory text written on, that says Screen Mirroring.

UX/UI designer here... what a mess. It's sad what's become of Apple lately.
Of course it looks like a mess when pretty much everything from settings is thrown in there. I highly doubt most people will add that much to it. I'm not saying it's the best design I've ever seen but then I didn't think iOS 1-6 were either. But I'm not a UI/UX designer so I suppose my opinion doesn't count.

You can hold on it to imitate 3D Touch.
so on the iPhone 5se i can just hold and the actions will be the same as 3d press and open up the toggle further? If so that's great always wondered why they would make pseudo 3d touch with 6s or previous.

How is it complicated when you don't have to use those features. My 75 year old mother uses iMessage just fine. She's never sent a sticker in her life. Of course people are going to say the same thing about the iPad changes. Everyone complained that iPad needed "pro" level software and now that it's getting it my Twitter feed is full of people complaining that it's too complex (even though they haven't used it for even 5 seconds). Sorry it's darn near impossible to add more features and functionality with zero complexity.
