The biggest issue is no multiuser experience. TV Apps up next feature is great, but when many different people use the same Apple TV is gets cluttered, unorganized, straight up wrong recommendations if my wife watches an episode before I do, and just plain useless.
I agree. Without multiple user accounts, it's going to be hard to adopt this. Just gets too messy.

That's what they said. Directtv, Spectruum and someone else was on the list.

Remember, DirecTV and DirecTV Now are not the same thing. For example, many channel apps let you authenticate from the former, but not the latter for some stupid reason. I don't think DTVN streaming will be tied in, but I guess we will see.

They didn't specify.

Quick question. If you sign up to one of the subscriptions from the tv app, so you still get a login id & password to use with non-Apple devices to view content?

Can someone confirm if you can add a channel you already have from your cable provider or as a stand alone?

For example if I already have HBO, can I add it? Or you have to cancel that and pay within this new app?

Heck, I’m in the US and I still don’t really care—and I’m probably not alone.

I'd say my excitement about AppleTV+ ranks somewhere below my excitement about CBS All Access, which at least has some shows I'd like to watch but refuse to subscribe for. Apple is good at many things, but unfortunately one of them is bowdlerization, and I've had enough of that.

i have an argentine apple id and i'm seeing the new apple tv app on my apple tv but not my ipad. Previously the apple tv app wasn't available on any device.

Yes. iOS 13 better brings multi users support. Even if it’s just limited to ATV and HomePod. For this exact reason I’m not buying at the moment.

They should also add it to the iPad although that won’t happen any time soon.

A button on the Siri remote to switch users be the best way to do it I’m thinking or even telling Siri to switch would work

No, the best way would be to recognize who's asking. Either by Voice ID or by Face ID. In the AppleTV's case, voice ID. If Jane asks to play something, it would be recognized as Jane and that would influence Jane's For You recommendations. Or John could say: "Hey Siri, it's John" and tvOS would shift to his account, showing him his apps and recommendations.

Apple already knows how to do this. iPhone is capable of differentiating voice prints. HomePod can certainly do it with its high quality microphone array. A Siri remote should be able to as well. It's just a matter of integrating it into the OS. AppleTV, HomePod and iPad should all have multi users.

DTVN integrates with the :apple:tv App. Live sports, DVR and on-demand content.

Your current HBO Now sub will still work. Just like it did in the previous version of tvOS.

It's actually HBO GO the one I have with my Cable provider, will that work too?

Seems like my answer is NO.

Is there a public beta release today for Apple TV? If not I will have to add the developer profile to my Apple TV.

I believe DirecTV NOW is included. They did recently add them into the TV app. It would make since to include it.

1000x this

Between HomePod, AppleTV, iPad... they are all in need of multiuser support, but specifically HomePod and AppleTV. I am hoping iOS 13 will support multi users across all those devices.

[doublepost=1553707734][/doublepost]I’m sure hoping the TV App takes into consideration my very large local iTunes library.
I wouldn't hold my breath - they have deliberately ignored local iTunes content for years. Probably my biggest disappointment with the AppleTV experience.....

This is the same reason I haven’t bought an iPad. I refuse to buy one for all of my family members when one or two would suffice.

Likewise. Perhaps this is what the Library section is for? Though it will no doubt be ignored under Up Next or any suggestions.

Yes HBO GO will still work.

It’s an option, like with Amazon Prime. If you don’t already have HBO, you can add it to your subscription and it will be combined with your TV+ subscription, at least that’s how I understand Amazon Prime works. ...similar to adding HBO to a cable subscription.

If you download hbo's apple tv app, it integrates deeply into the tv app. I doubt it will be the same thing as the channel, which I imagine is directly tied to subscribing within tv app and plays content within the tv app as opposed to launching the associated app with the play request.

So if you subscribe to HBO by other means, you would be limited to the integration features by what the HBO app does (or directv now or whatever the primary subscriber's app does)

Still without family profiles so each member of the family can keep track of its own shows.
