iCloud Notifications would be brilliant. But right now something like that doesn't even seem to work with iCloud functionality itself. For instance, if I get an iCloud email and read it on my iPhone, the badge count is still there on my iPad. What's weird about this is I could have swore that when Steve Jobs showed off MobileMe that it did this, and when MobileMe first came out it would keep all of the read statuses in sync across devices before having to open the mail app. What gives?
I'm also surprised to only see only two items listed for iPad. Off the top of my head I can think of further improvements to the Files app to make it more robust like Finder, the ability to connect drives with the USB adapter and copy files back and forth, further expansion of keyboard shortcuts, a sort of "3D Touch" and additional functionality for Apple Pencil, Low Power Mode for iPad, and multi-user support for families who can't afford to buy a pile of iPads or just want to buy a family iPad for their kids to use in the living room. As a long-shot I'd like to be able to let my iPad do more background tasks. For instance, it's ridiculous that while using my iPad Pro I can't go do something in another app while Lightroom Mobile is syncing all my photos over. The iPad has a beefy battery so let it run background tasks for longer—perhaps using ML to determine the impact of the operation on battery life and cut it off after a certain point depending on a number of factors (if you're near a time of day you usually charge, if you're at a location you usually able to charge, how much battery life is remaining, how much battery life you started with before the app began draining the battery, etc). I'd also like to see more ability to automate certain tasks on the iPad.
Furthermore, Mail and Reminders need to be overhauled or perhaps integrated in some way so I can actually use them to GTD. My dream would be ML being able to figure out when to remind me. For instance, say I get a quote from my electrician in an email and I need to respond in some way. But it's a complex issue and I need to call them back about it to describe a part in detail. It would be great if iOS could tie their contact info into Maps and know when the company closes, then look for holes in my schedule later in the day when I'm likely to be in my office and remind me to call them when I'm able to sit down and take care of it. Having to juggle between Siri adding things to my lists and syncing everything with Things because Reminders sucks and moving emails into Things as to-dos and everything else is just a huge PITA. What iOS really needs is to fix the hundreds of sharp little edges that annoy us throughout the day and degrade our productivity.
Also I want a freaking regular expression call blocker, lol. I get calls all the time from spam systems that start with my area code and first three digits of my phone number. I want to block all of them. I live in a different area code so it's very unlikely for me to get a call from my own area code, much less the first three digits of my phone number. Spammers use this to confuse people and get them to answer. ML should block these, or they should give us a field where we can make our own filter, BUT they'll never do that because it's too "geeky" of a feature. But call blocking needs to be dealt with on a better level.
