I think a pair of noise cancelling AirPods to go along with the current style is a great move...I myself do like noise cancelling headphones, and with the new "Hx" chipset I'm sure they will work flawlessly...This will also help some who had trouble keeping them in their ears...

No no no no no no no. Literally the best thing about Apple headphones to me are that they don’t require you to suction them into your brain. I just can’t use them. Truly hope this isn’t a “new design” and instead just an option.

Arrgh, I also *HATE* earplug style earbuds! Not only does it feel like they're sucking on your brain (very apt description by the way) but they also amplify every single sound you make with your body. Walking? *THUD THUD THUD* in your head. Eating something? *CHEW CHEW CHEW!!!!* loud as hell. Try to speak? It sounds like your own voice is being amplified 10x and piped back into your brain.

The hell with that. I really hope they keep selling the old design.

lack of noise canceling tech and noise isolation is literally the worst thing about AirPods. Everyone I know complains about that. I still think they should sell the current model for people that like mediocre wireless headphones though. AirPods are convenient, that’s about it. They sound slightly better than EarPods and that’s not a compliment.
Spot on, exactly what I was thinking.

If these have noise cancellation or even just good isolation, I’ll finally be able to consider buying a pair of AirPods. Always wanted them since they’re so great for calls, but for music learning with any kind of noise in the background they’re just not a serious option.

Waiting for these, will be my first Airpods pair. I actually prefer the silicone support as I am very active and they Apple airpods currently is not a viable option.

Hopefully next Apple event which should be this or next month. Makes sense as I'm seeing some deep discounts on the 2nd gen from major retailers running almost every week now.

Personally, I don't see why Airpods 2 and this could not coexist in Apple's inventory of products. You don't like / need rubber tips? We have a product for that. I personally did not buy Airpods exactly because I prefer the ear canal seal.

Cool! They look like BeatsX without the cord. My BeatsX are on their last leg, will get these if they really are noise canceling / reducing.

I agree - I prefer using my AirPods over my beats X style in ears, but I do bring them when I will be in an overly noisy environment because the AirPods don't block out much. Obviously as others stated we have Bose QC35 for noise cancellation but over ear style aren't great for every occasion.

Everyone needs to chill, it ain’t even out yet and you haven’t even tried them either, smh

God, no, I hate earphones with rubber ear tips! They a l w a y s fall out! That's the main reason I'm using AirPods!

I too am not excited about the way that style of headphone fits, and really like the current design of airpods.

hiiiighly unlikely, but it would be pretty great if apple offered both designs of airpods to support both fit preferences.

im not terribly upset, i was interested in the new airpods, but after my 2018 mbp got damaged during repair for the keyboard issue, an apple rep offered me new airpods as an apology for the inconvenience and the way it was handled by the store. so i guess i'm none the worse for wear if these new designs dont pique my interest.

(to be clear, i didnt harass them about some form of reparations. i was actually insistent about a potential device replacement because a long list of reasons related to the repair that i wont bother people about here. the airpods were a kind offer entirely on apple's part without having to prompt them for it.)

Sealed plugs would be a good thing as long as there's an option to use a gesture to channel the mic into the ears for environmental/situational awareness. I've worn noise isolating buds before, and they do get a little dicey walking around in busy urban environments.

No one even knows if these are going to replace the current AirPods design or Apple is just adding another one, like having BeatsX and Powerbeats Pro coexist.

Everyone needs to stop ****ing whining lol

It ain’t even announced yet, Apple hasn’t even talked about it yet, you don’t even know if it’ll replace the previous design, no one knows what it actually looks like, you haven’t even tried it yourself and you’re already making horrible assumptions.

Also for the people that say it looks horrible needs to get their eyes checked, the stem appears to be shorter, which is better looking. It also looks exactly like the AirPods, just with ear tips, so I don’t see how the design is more awful than its predecessor.

These things look like they’d fall out of my ears faster than the current air pod design! My ears were just not meant for apple headphones. Only the powerbeat pros will stay on my head with their behind the ear hooks.

I still have my first-gen AirPods right now. If that "leak" truly becomes the new ones, I will buy 2nd-gen and leave those fugly thangs in the store.

As long as they leave the original design in the lineup I'm a happy camper. Never was a fan of this kind. Always felt let it was going too deep in my ear.

Pretty sloppy product leak. Presumably someone in the space ship building gets their ass kicked for this?

I really hope they will offer them as an high-end option, as not everyone has elephant-like ear canals, that are required for using regular AirPods properly.

Just bought the second gen a couple weeks ago as my first gen are starting to act wonky. I don't regret it. This new style would not be for me at all. The current AirPods are pretty close to perfect for my use case.
