Apple's headphones have always refused to stay put in my ears, and I like in-ear headphones, so while I would not buy AirPods in their current design I would likely buy them in this sort of design. Bring it on.

You guys really never learn do you? Once again, you’re judging a LEAK. So many of you cry and complain about the design of LEAKS and then when Apple reveals it in all its shiny brand new polished glory, you go out and buy.

Please just relax. Wait until they reveal the darn things. You guys always change your tune. Happens every year.

No no no no no no no. Literally the best thing about Apple headphones to me are that they don’t require you to suction them into your brain. I just can’t use them. Truly hope this isn’t a “new design” and instead just an option.

And who has ALL the time "clean" hearing tunnels... Apple should keep the classic EarPod Shape in their portfolio.

For serious audio listening I have IEMs that go deep into my ear canal, block out a lot of noise. For when I want to casually listen to audio (especially in a public setting or the office), I use AirPods BECAUSE there isn't any audio cancellation or blocking, i.e, I'm still embedded into the environment around me for context (listening out for buses, co-workers, etc.).

I hope these new AirPods "Pro" have an option to install a hard tip like the traditional AirPods or at least some way to have a passthrough ANC. Wouldn't it be cool if these new AirPods could enhance the sound around you using the microphones on each AirPod (for true stero, contextual sound)? And for there to be different modes of enhancement, one could be a generic 'boost audio' one for people with bad hearing and another could be a 'reduce transit sounds' mode to reduce the harsh BART squeels and make it easier to have a conversation with people around you. A smart hearing aid or sorts...

EDIT: come to think of it, maybe Apple ARE planning some sort of 'smart hearing aid' feature for these new AirPods. The new watchOS update gives you a warning when you're damaging your hearing with loud sounds... That would be a perfect opportunity to present a toggle for some 'reduce harsh sounds' mode on your AirPods and prevent further damage to your ears. Constantly seeing that loud sounds warning on your Apple Watch could be all the marketing they need to convince some people that they need AirPods Pro around the city to block out nasty sounds.

Been waiting for this. The existing models are great until you want to use them in a crowded area or a quiet place without disturbing others. Even passive noise reduction will be fine with the true in ear design.

This is good news and long overdue this is the only reason I won't buy air pods no noise canceling

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes! Literally the only the only thing preventing me from using AirPods is the lack of an ear tip to hold them in place. I am one of the significant minority who’s ears cannot hold current AirPods. (Our small cartilage ear flaps stick out more than others, rather than being more “swept back”, which prevents the little buggers from staying put.) I was about to buy a PowerBeats Pro set, but now I will wait. Yee-haw!

God, no, I hate earphones with rubber ear tips! They a l w a y s fall out! That's the main reason I'm using AirPods!

Seriously, why do people assume a new model with ANC will mean they immediately discontinue the current style models? I can almost guarantee they will sell these at a higher price, and either keep the current airpods around as-is or even lower the price on them a little.

Would you care to almost bet some money on that?

I have a love hate relationship with my AirPods 2.

Love how small they are and easy to have in a pocket. The only reason I EVER use them is for phone calls/meetings and listening to Podcasts while driving one of my older cars without bluetooth.

I bought the PowerBeats Pro for exercising/chores that require anything more then walking, because AirPods fall out of my ears with any movement.

For music listening I have IEMs and DAC rig that cost more than 10-15 pairs of beats or AirPods.

I am definitely excited by the potential look of these new AirPods that should actually fit in my ears and will consolidate my two pairs of bluetooth by giving them to family or friends.

So sign me up for AirPods 3.

Please no. The flatter design is fantastic, fit perfect, and don't hurt to wear. I don't need my ear canals stretched or sealed.

That’s not the problem, the problem is that they look fugly. In-ear headphones cause more discomfort than necessary, especially the back part of the ear near the ear canal (I forgot what that region is called.)

I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple use the “Pro” marketing to explain the higher price.

Relax, it will just be an option. Just like Apple offered regular EarPods and in-ear EarPods. Which I still use by the way, despite them having a cable and not being able to put the iPhone adapter in the small case.

The reason I use Airpods is so I can still hear everything while in my ears. I don't need ANC or no rubber tips that clog my ears. If I want ANC, I'll just use my Momentum M2 headphones.

I like the current model that allows outside sound to pass into the ear. I don't want a dome of silence.
