I don't see why it wouldn't. Isn't apple's way of handling FaceID in that the secure enclave checks and if it passes then it tells the app in question "Yep the face matches" that way the app doesn't load.

If I recall correctly as well, Android doesn't do it that way which is why the Pixel 4's face unlock was such trash because every app that wanted to use it would have to be updated to look for the face instead of a fingerprint.

I'm hoping that's how it works. I use Enpass for my password manager and already put a suggestion for them to incorporate this, but if it just works with no dev programming that would be so much better.

So unfortunately, my biggest gripe is that Apple has disabled the "Require Passcode after 5 minutes" function when you enable Face ID for iPhone Unlock. See the following screenshot comparison:

Face ID disables `Require Passcode after …` feature.jpg

Figure 1: The left side has Face ID enabled for "iPhone Unlock", whilst the right side has Face ID disabled for "iPhone Unlock" (which effectively becomes "Passcode Only" mode).

The left side has Face ID enabled for "iPhone Unlock", which in turn forces the "Require Passcode after # (minutes|hours)" function to change to "Immediately", with no possible option to decide on your own level of security.

The right side has Face ID disabled for "iPhone Unlock" (thus forcing "Passcode Only" mode) which permits you to customise the "Require Passcode after # (minutes|hours)" feature and allows you to decide on your own level of security.

I don't appreciate Apple deciding my level of security according to *THEIR TERMS* if I choose to use Face ID. This is unacceptable. So I've instead opted for "Passcode Only" mode (only for "iPhone Unlock", I've continued to enable Face ID for Apple Pay, Password AutoFill, etc.) because I like the feature of only needing to unlock my iPhone once during any hour. That's the level of security I have chosen for myself. I don't understand why I am not allowed to use this feature with Face ID and authenticate my face only once during an hour for the sole purpose of unlocking my phone.

My investment company will unlock my account (multi-million dollar) via voice print when I call into their service center on my trusted iPhone. I'm not sure if this only works when the call is initiated from their app on my phone or when I call by pressing their contact phone number.... Regardless, I would think Apple should be able to unlock on voice print and a view of eye movement if a mask is detected.

If only there was some other means of authenticating, that didn't rely on your face being visible.

#TouchIDForEver

Touch ID is great and all, if only it worked with gloves. Face ID pretty much revolutionized my experience on the motorbike, since I can easily stop at the side of the road, open up my helmet (I'm using one where the entire front half can be lifted easily) to unlock the phone, check the maps etc.

In the past, I usually disabled the code lock on my phone completely when going on a trip, to avoid taking off the gloves (not good for security when biking in places like Thailand or Indonesia). Or I had to take the gloves off, or try to type the code slowly while gloved. And believe me, when wearing motorbike clothes in a 35+ Celsius heat every second stading still brings you deeper into Dante's Inferno ;)

What we really need is devices with both FaceID and TouchID, because neither works 100% fine for everyone in all scenarios.

Some places just aren't roomy enough or they need more markers. Sheetz has the feet every six feet back from the registers, but people were standing right next to them waiting for food. They definitely need more sense, but Sheetz could also have spots marked away from the register line feet for people to wait for food. And yea some lady at this smaller market we went to kept going the wrong way.
Sheetz? Is that really the name of a store? Weird.
