I wonder if it ever occurred to anyone at Apple that not everyone is in Kindergarten?

This isn't Apples creation, they're simply complying with the Unicode standard (the Unicode Consortium is the ones that make the emoji). Not complying can in minor cases just have a square with an X appear when an emoji is missing, in more serious cases it can lead to crashes in apps. It's important for Apple to keep on top of these.

Emojis are way too detailed now. Can’t make out what they’re supposed to be when in normal text size. They need to either go back to simple emojis like the yellow facial expressions, or make the emojis bigger. Apple allows 3 emojis to be enlarged in a text, but any more than that, or as soon as you type a letter, it shrinks back to indiscernible.

I agree with this. I only use about 1% of emoji, but I think the thought process is that emojis will be suggested while you type instead of having to search for those you want. And the new Search bar is extremely helpful, too. But I still agree.... I would not personally use 99% of the emojis. More is not better.

My 77 year old father is a heavy user of emoji (in Facebook Messsenger). He's grasped the concept and value of them.

I still use only textual emojis and my emoji vocabulary is limited. I don't plan to ever use regular emojis. For whatever reason, they strike me as immature and something for people with too much time on their hands.

Received my Series 6 yesterday and I'm running Beta of OS 14 on my iPhone and Apple support said that the Blood O2 won't work on the beta currently and only works on 14.0.1....

Has anyone else had this issue?

I wonder if it ever occured to you that Apple doesn't create emojis, they just implement them in iOS for those that want to use them.

This is what Apple engineers do everyday???? Instead of fixing bugs, they work on emojis that no one uses! This is what happens when Tim crook is in charge. /s
Find out about the authorship of this infantile madness before you accuse the wrong people

The beta released today brings it back.

I'm 71 and my wife is 4 years younger. I use 1 or 2 occasionally in WhatsApp but my wife, and her friends, use whole strings of them! 😉

Too bad they make emoji updates part of iOS updates. Should be let of a separate app update so older iOS version would stay in sync.
Agreed. They should also remove their stock apps from the iOS. Having to upgrade the O/S (both iOS and MacOS) to, for example, get a new version of Mail or Photos, means we're often stuck with stupid little bugs for ages.

I really could not care less about getting MORE emojis. I would simply like to know why in the world in this technological age we don't have the capacity to DELETE or HIDE emojis that we don't need or care for.

With all the emoji images getting more detailed, they might as well put a photograph of the object instead.

So much time and so many resources are devoted to the Politically Correct Emojis instead of actually shipping products and software that does not require seemingly endless UPDATES to correct problems, much like our friends at Microsoft. Steve Jobs made it a strong point to not ship products or software until they were READY and clean. I guess Tim Cook would rather let the customers be the Quality Control Engineers, that saves more time for his meaningless Emojis. Too bad, Apple customers are tiring of the misplaced efforts to play instead of perform "insanely great" design and engineering.

That beaver gonna get some use outta me.

I'm pretty happy with Apple's emojis, not sure why the hate. I don't think they're terribly important, but Android emojis are just awful. I have one for work and every time I send one it's cringeworthy.
